Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

Week 13 in my 2027 season will forever be the craziest week in my Fresno State Dynasty.

before going into the week, the season in recap
my last post had my first 5 games, but quick recap, Beat Middle Tenn, San Jose State, Hawai'i, and Boise State. Lost to Washington State

4-1 and hosting #3 Oregon. by this point in the Dynasty, Fresno State is basically selling out every game and I think the Home-Field advantage played a big part. it was a fairly defensive first quarter, but I lead 10-0 going into the 2nd quarter. it opened up, traded TDs to make it 17-7. Oregon Scored, then I threw a pick 6, Oregon now leads 21-17. I got a FG in response, 21-20. Oregon Fumbled, I managed to get a FG to end the half. 23-21. 2nd half, we would both score 2 TDs and I would hang on to win 37-35.

had a week of, then had to travel to Clemson, and despite taking a 10-0 lead early, You can easily tell the talent gap. just couldn't keep up with their Talent. Clemson got a TD right before halftime to take the lead 21-17. @nd half would show the difference. I wasn't able to get much time to throw and my running game was't getting much. Clemson pulled away and easily won 41-20.

beat San Diego state and Stanford with no problem.
the UCLA game was tough, got behind 17-0 in the 2nd quarter. Got a TD, forced a 3 and out. a Good punt return set me up around the 35 of UCLA, scored a few played later to make it 17-14 at the half. got the ball to start the 2nd half, drove down and scored taking half the quarter off the clock. 21-17. UCLA QB threw a Pick 6. 28-17

side note. my Secondary is doing insane this year in takeaways(at least compared to my previous seasons). my 3 CBs, FS, and SS. all in top 10 for Best Defensive Back of the year. 22 Ints 5 Fumble recoveries between them. 3 total defensive TDs, 2 by one player.

back to the game, I got a FG to make it 31-17, UCLA then stormed back to get a TD, I missed a FG(still not good with the new meter, especially at severe angles). UCLA then tied it at 31-31 with about 30 to go. I tried to drive, but got sacked. we got to OT. had a goal line stand to force UCLA to a FG. I nearly won it on one play, got tackled at the 1. next play punch it in to win 37-34.

USC game was interesting as well. my Defense played suprisingly well in not allow USC to drive the field. my Offense did enough to get into FG range a bunch, got 2 FGs in my first 2 drives. USC scored a TD before the end of the quarter. 7-6. I had to punt, USC drove down and got a FG. I drove down and got a FG before half time. 10-9. my star freshman finally got open deep to get a TD(past few weeks could not get many deep passes completed), took a 16-10 lead. Halfway through the 4th, I added a FG to make it 19-10. in USC 2 minute offense, the drove down the field to get a TD 19-17.

I nearly blew it here. I pick a normal kick return out of habit when they tried to onsides. called timeout. then when selecting plays, my thumbstick on the my controller came off(I have a Pro controller, so they can come off). forgot to pause the game and the game auto picked a non-onside return play. my guy caught, then dropped the ball and USC recovered. they drove down to the 22 yardline. then got a block in the back penalty, and a sack that put them back to the 35, they then went for it on 4th down, and ended up just short, although the time ran out anyway. I won 19-17.

Last game was against Cal, I managed to win 31-24. closer than I wanted. my defense got a bunch of sacks, which probably was the big difference. my DB that got the pick 6 in the UCLa game got a scoop and score which gave me the lead in the 4th and I hung on to win it from there.

now on to the Week 13 craziness.

Michigan was #1(11-0), lost to Ohio state 23-21
Miami was #2, they lost to unranked Duke.
Clemson was #3, lost to unranked South Carolina
Georgia was #4, lost to unranked Georgia Tech
Colorado was #5, lost to #12 Utah
Fresno State was #6, I beat #25 Cal, now the #1 team.
Kansas State was #7, lost to unranked Iowa State

Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

Fresno State Wins the Pac-12 Championship 37-22

I lead 14-0, Oregon State came back to tie it at 14-14, I scored right before halftime, 21-14. I scored a couple of FGs and 2 TDs to make it 37-14, Oregon State got a TD with under a minute to go and got 2-pt to make it 37-22.

My DE won the Heisman, also gets Player of the Year, Defensing Player of the Year, best DE, and Lombardi Awards.

HB won best HB of the year.
CB won best Defensive back of the year
LB won best LB of the year.

I think I'm lowering the quarter length next season. getting too many plays compared to AI.

the CFB Playoff Bracket, the seeds are the top 12 ranked in order.

Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

Welcome to the College Football Enquirer with our hosts Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellinger, and SI's Pat Forde.
Dan W.: Welcome to the pod fans. The dream team and undefeated season continues to roll on for Coach Cheese and his Auburn Tigers. Arkansas State came to Jordan-Hare, and they put up a decent fight here and there. Pat, what ya got?
Pat F.: The halftime score was a 28-17 game in favor of the Tigers. So, not a blowout by any means. However, the second half saw the Tigers clamp down only allowing 7 points while Auburn scored 27. This Zimmons kid is a weapon. He went 31/41, 429 yards, 5TD's, and no picks.
Ross D.: And one thing we haven't said enough about this player. He is a freshman. Now, the QB for Arkansas State went 27/45, 359 yards, 3 TD's, and 2 picks. Neither teams' rushing game did enough to move the needle. However, the speedy WR B. Cain had a career day for Auburn. Listen carefully because he had 7 catches for 225 yards and 4 TD's. Over half his catches ended up in the end zone.
Dan W.: Even though the Tigers gave up some yards, the defense still had 3 sacks and 2 picks.
Pat F.: And the second half adjustments were made and proven effective. This team is clicking.
Dan W.: Come on back for your college football updates next week. So long fans.

Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

Played the playoffs for the 2027 season.

Played Rose Bowl against Colorado. had to play this game twice as the first time the recording froze. won the first game in a weird 5 FG 1 TD game and won 23-17.

the 2nd attempt,. Colorado score on the first play of the game. I got the ball, scored on my first play. rest of the quarter had no scores. I scored early in the 2nd quarter to take a 14-7 lead. got the ball back and scored again, 21-7. Colorado scored before halftime to make it 21-14. only score in the 3rd was a Fresno State FG. 24-14.

started the 4th with another FG. 27-14. colorado responded with a FG. 27-17. had to punt, Colorado drove and got a TD. 27-24. I scored a TD to make it 34-27, Colorado threw a Pick, I scored again to make it 41-27 with 2 minutes to go. Colorado quickly scored to make it 41-31, they went for onsides, but i recover. I went 3 and out, punts. Colorado scored on 1 play to make it 41-38 with 43 seconds to go. I recover the onsides again, this time able to run out the clock as they no longer had timeouts.

moved onto the next round of the Playoff, against Georgia in the Bulldog rematch from the 2026 National championship game.

and well.....

Georgia is still the top Bulldog. probably the most embarrassing lose I've ever have in an NCAA game. lost 44-7. I could not run the ball which is usually my go to. threw 4 Ints, 7 total dropped passes. just an ugly game. they even rubbed it in by kicking a FG at the last second to end the game.

National chamipship ended up being #12 Georgia vs #2 Michigan
Michigan killed Georgia 38-7.

on to offseason. I did pick up a 5* Elusive back ATH. looking forward to see how he is. I was in the race for like 4 other 5*, but got beat by ND and Oregon. so close. only had 12 seniors, so was mostly going to high rated players. actually had an instant commit in preseason. a 4* ATH, probably will be a TE to replace a senior that left.

Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

I didn't really have a need to get any player in the portal in the off season after year 4, but I saw this HB had me #1 on his list and I looked at his home town, just had to sign him and bring him in. Nice little story line with hometown kid coming back to play for Fresno State

Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

In a snowy flurry, the Wazzu State Cougars defeated Colorado State 42-21 for the PAC title. It was a rematch that went much the same as the first, but long running drives in the snow gave the Cougars the win. It was hard to see CSU players as their white and gold blended with snow, but it was fun. Part of the excitement for Wazzu was potential snow games and it didn’t disappoint!

Despite a perfect 13-0, the only such team in the nation, Washington state is snubbed and won’t get a first round by. Those went to Big 10 Michigan (10-3), SEC Georgia (12-1), Big 12 Colorado (10-3)… and AAC Memphis (11-2). Talk about disrespect…

I will face Oregon in the first round. They’re actually the first team I’m facing all year to be rated better than me (90’s across the board I’m 85’s). Other opponents have been equals at best.

I did win Coach of the Year though. We also snagged best defensive player, best DE (same guy), best RB, best DB, and the Lombardi award.

As for coaching offers I was only given 4… all for coordinator spots. Boise State has fired a head coach for a second straight year and once again did not offer me a job. So as it stands I’m happy to stay with Wazzu. Maybe Boise wants to be bad? They’re progressively worse the last 3 years. I suppose a realistic case would be they can’t afford the contract buy out, along with the buyout of their recently fired coach, AND a new contract.

Other HC openings (that I was not considered for) fare: Arizona, Auburn, BYU, ECU, Illinois, Iowa State, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Nebraska, North Texas, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Stanford, Temple, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia, and Liberty

Re: College Football 25 - How Is Your Dynasty Going?

Wazzu hosted Oregon for a CFP PAC-12 throwback. After holding even 7-7 through one, we had a 17-7 halftime lead. We extended that to enter the 4th up 31-15.

Oregon got on the board to make it 31-22. We added a field goal to make it 34-22 but they put together a quick drive. They scored in 5 plays to make it 34-29 with 4 to go. Seeing our CFP win slip away, we kicked into gear. We started with a 53 yard zone read run. Then, with 1:46 to go and 3rd down, we knew they would sell on a run. An orbit RPO took us 36 yards to finish the drive. We won 41-29.

Then we moved on to the sugar bowl against #1 Georgia. We had a 14-10 halftime lead but the bulldogs proved strong. In the 4th, it was 27-14.

We quickly put together two strong drives and took a 28-27 lead, but the defense broke down. We trailed 35-28 after a 2pt conversion with 1:53 to go.

We mustered a drive and go to the Georgia 16 with 43 seconds before the pressure was too much. Our QB threw his 4th pick of the game (easily 2 my fault but two really felt like “heisman BS”) to seal the deal. Wazzu lost their first game of the season 35-28.

I’m not too burnt, it was a Cinderella season and I’m happy to not have it TOO unrealistic. I just wish it didn’t always feel like BS when you take a loss on Heisman, like the CPU cheated its way to it. They shut down my run game though and that’s always a killer for me.

Oh well. 14-1 is nothing to be scoffed at especially for a first year head coach! I also unlocked the program builder due to a CFP win, I may dabble with those. I don’t intend to use all coaching perks as I felt in old games that make it too easy.

I retained my full staff which was cool, should make next year go well! Georgia wound up being national champs over Florida so a one score loss to them is good in my book!

On to the offseason!

Update: finished with the #44 class in the nation. 7 4* commits, 15 3* and 5 2*

As always I point out Boise: #128. Total of 10 commits, 5 3* and 5 2*
