Re: What has your experience been for those who dropped from All American to Varsity?

I've tried Varsity for a few games now and have mixed thoughts. First game I was up 31-17 in the 4th quarter against Michigan. They scored, recovered an onside kick, scored again, stopped me, and then scored to win the game. That seems to be an outlier. The other 3 games I played the closest one was a 10 point win, the other 2 I won by 17 and 21 points, against Michigan, Georgia, and Clemson respectively (they were playoff games). So overall it's definitely easier.

I feel like passing is where I want it to be for me. My pass blocking seems weak. I'm able to run the ball at will now though. My defense also seems less effective. Even when I run commit correctly they will still get 6+ yards half the time. When the CPU chooses to pass, they can pass on me. What happens usually though is the CPU will get a good drive going, but I will get either sack or they will get called for holding and I can stop them. And they're keyed into running the ball so they don't pass until 3rd down or unless they are down big in the second half. I feel like if the CPU were running a balanced offense or pass heavy, then they would score more on me and the games would be closer.

I am using Armor and Sword's Varsity sliders btw. I see Playmaker's sliders mentioned on the previous page, I might try those out.

I've been playing on varsity sliders since release of the game, and I've only adjusted after i see really egregious stuff going on consistently. Doing that, I've been satisfied and played a good 8 years into my Rutgers dynasty before starting over after this latest patch. I've seen a full variant of games, from blowouts to surprise loses.

Most recently I came across a team that ran tempo, but ran the option out of it gash me with almost 50 att and 288 yds. Thats the most rush attempts I've ever seen the CPU do. I was frustrated to all hell I couldn't stop it, but kind of enjoyed it wasn't one of typical time of them tossing it all over the yard.

Alright I've had some really close games this season now so I think law of averages is evening out, plus I used parts of Playmakers sliders to make it tougher. 2 games ago was the tightest game I've played, had to come back from 21-3 halftime deficit and won 31-28.

Most recent game (against Indiana) I was down 21-6 at halftime, and 28-14 in the 3rd quarter. Ended up winning 56-28. I scored a quick TD, got a 3 and out, another quick TD, and intercepted them twice one of which was a pick 6. Before that started though they were really challenging. Lot of quick passes before I could get pressure and their guys were always open. Their QB was 22/24 for 250 yards midway through the 3rd quarter.

I originally dropped from AA to varsity in my dynasty. I enjoyed it a lot, albeit I went undefeated and won a title.

Some games were a bit TOO easy and flat out blowouts, some were close. I believe I beat a relatively equal team 28-20, so that felt good.

Otherwise sometimes I crushed teams by 30+ rated 2-3 overall lower. It just seemed hit or miss in a major way.

I threw 3 total picks all season, that felt wrong. My RB averaged I think 7 YPC... but it was Ashton Jeanty which at this point feels realistic lol

I moved back to AA with a new slider set (Khaliib's 100 sliders). I've thrown a TON of picks, but mostly self inflicted from forcing passes, I've also gathered a metric ton of picks. They're feast or famine and the feast is overpowered. It's otherwise played very well.

Decided I’d give this latest dynasty game another go with slow sim defense as opposed to fast. Was thinking my defense was maybe too dominate in sim during my 5-game win streak. Well, at home versus the 8-2 Pitt Panthers we’re up 28-3 in the 3rd and just got the ball back. Guess that 89 defense rating actually means something.

This is my biggest fear with varsity. Varsity has been awesome so far, but my teams have all been rated 82-85 in 4 years @ ODU and 82 in my 1st season @ Louisville. I plan to stay @ Louisville for a long time, so I expect to approach 90 OVR in the future. I’m really worried that while the game plays great around 84 OVR, once my team is great I’ll be blowing out everyone (other great teams included).

Yeah I've definitely been blowing more people out. I had a couple close games But I just absolutely destroyed Purdue at their place when I beat them last year at my home only 19-7. This year's game was on Varsity, last year's on AA.

Playing on Varsity with slightly adjusted A&S sliders. Just took the HC job at Wisconsin, and they're rated 86-89 in the three phases. Played on the road at Oregon, who's rated 90 in everything and No. 3 in the nation.

I played the full game; I usually just play offense and fast sim defense. I tried to keep up with them, but they were firing on all cylinders. I managed to get a couple INTs to make things interesting, but my offense was hindered by the home field advantage and the super athletic Oregon defense.

Despite a valiant effort, I lost to the Ducks, 35-21.

Despite having some struggles, I was able to do a few things on offense, namely running the ball a bit. I had to work hard for every yard and was able to put together some methodical drives and put points on the board. It was fun, yet frustrating. It felt exactly how it should have.

I love playing on Varsity with these sliders. Games play out very naturally and can be close, blowouts, and anywhere in between.
