while I'm sure in 1st party games you have seen great graphics (Uncharted KZ etc) they were leveraged over an incredible ammount of time and money (YEARS) not available to ordinary Dev teams for Sony to prove that the PS3 has graphical prowess. True enough. but in the real world it still has LESS RAM than the 360 to work with and less anti-aliasing and has harder development tools to extract the same performance.

read (and watch the videos) some of these head to heads to see that EA is not the only one who may show some limitations in the PS3 versions. Almost EVERY game released on both consoles are better on 360 or more recently they are equal. Look how EA needed to spend an development extra year just getting the PS3 up to 60FPS on its sports titles... it takes more work to get the same result compared to 360.
Do remember that the PS3 came out a year later too. The PS2 was hard to develop for as well remember? There are silver linings in making something hard to develop for as it would make maxing out a console harder to do (look at the God Of War series on the PS2 - 5 years after the console debuted).

Initially I agree that it took more time to get PS3 titles on par with 360 titles, but that's an old excuse at this point. Those developers on their 2nd/3rd time around on the PS3 have done a good job. You also have a case with a game like Burnout Paradise developed on the PS3 and ported to the 360 having excellent results on both consoles. Some knocked development on the PS3 out of the box on the 1st try (again, Criterion with BP, Tecmo with Ninja Gaiden Sigma). I'll even say EA too because it wasn't until their 3rd football crack on the systems that they got them up to 60fps.

Developer pedigree more than anything is the key here.

And where is this proven? You guys want to throw out reviews or even collections of reviews like gamerankings has being biased but then want to state stuff like this as fact. You opinion might be they are better games but its not a fact.

If you do use gamerankings- Killzone 2, the show, uncharted are decently below games like gears, gears 2 and halo 3.

In all actuality, arent all console exclusives supposed to look better because well, umm it's only made for one console? Just a thought...

everything you say is correct and I agree... development is harder and will be for some time and hopefully there will be fruit (as there is with 1st party exclusives given enough time and money).

Regarding the above, BO Paradise ...reading the recent Digital foundry interview with Criterion, it has been more or less confirmed that the 360 version actually has unused RAM so they are on par with the PS3 (essentially). they said they "they coded to the least common denominator within each console". so areas where PS3 had an advantage, it was not used if 360 couldn't keep up. so as Adam has stated, each has it's pluses and minuses that need to be factored in.

also, believe it or not, reading developer comments on B3D as well, it is confirmed that several games reduce the memory footprint on the 360 version (gimping it slightly, textures, AA) just so forum threads like these don't backlash on the devs and/or sales by PS3 owners.

SO IN CONCLUSION ... taking EA or the more than friendly devs on this board to task for short-comings in the PS3 version is unwarranted, unfounded, and unfair.

I agree.
I'm in leagues on both the 360 and PS3.

Thing is with the ps3 exclusive titles, they are heavily coded for the SPUs (which is where the power of the PS3 lies) and those games heavily coded and optimized for the cell/spus blow the comp out of the water. It's proven. The 360s graphics card is slightly better than the PS3 though.

If you wanna kick a developer for a doing a horrible job on a ps3 multiplatform game, talk to the Ghostbusters guys.

EA is doing a great job IMO.

I'm not going to even get into the farce that is gaming journalism.

Halo 3 got rated off of hype alone. COD4 runs circles around Halo 3.

Gears is the peak of 360 and that has easily been surpassed by the likes of KZ2, Uncharted, R&C Future. I have both consoles and it's plain as day.

Staying on topic. They've already said they develop on the PS3 and 360 separately and they do a good job of it.

I know. There is a lot of bad information in this thread... your stuff seems to be accurate though.

Just glad I own both so I don't miss out on anything. In general, most believe (and the evidence is apparent) that multiplatform games led on the 360 and ported to the PS3 does no justice to the PS3 version with MOST developers. And PS3 exclusives have been pretty superior to most 360 exclusives.
That's pretty subjective though. The superiority of a game is on the development team behind the software, regardless of what console they are developing for.
