Re: Recruiting Gems and Busts

Because of the stupid 70 man roster limit and to minimize making cuts which I hate doing I initially recruit only 10-12 players. I've found that several 5 star players I initially put on my board turn out to be busts a few weeks into recruiting. I also found that after dropping these busts I can usually find several 3 stars that have an interest level of 3 or 4 in my school 7-8 weeks into the recruiting cycle that turn out to be gems. My favorite was a 3 star DE at a rating of 67 that jumped 15 points to 82. Became a 3 year all-american and a first round draft pick after his junior year. Have a lot of luck doing this with punters, kickers, FB's, and D-line players....Pretty cool I think because I tend to pay a lot more attention to their progression.

Does he have any skills other than those two? Like any catching/cover/throwing skills? That would be sick if so.

A few years ago a guy in one of my ODs had a kicker with like mid 90's speed and the dude used to just blow guys up on kick coverage. It was awesome seeing him streak down the field and be the first man to the ball.

Re: Recruiting Gems and Busts

My 3* 75 (68+7) gem freshman QB is already better than last year's senior starter.
85 throw power, 81 accuracy.

Does throw power progress in the offseason?

He has 29 TDs and 11 INTs through 7 games. Because my impact RB can't take more than 8 carries in a game before he's out for three weeks, I have to throw to win.
A lot of his TDs (15!) are to my 6'7 95 speed freshman WR, or (6 or 7 I think) to my 6'6 81 speed freshman TE in the redzone, because I cannot get anything running the ball inside the 10. It really makes his numbers look unrealistic. A lack of power RBs hurts, but my LSU transfer RB should change that.

LSU has 4 RBs with 91+ overall. 91, and 3 92s. I can see why Hill transferred to me for playing time.

Have you considered playing him both ways? Starting WR, nickel CB? Then switch him to full time at one position or the other depending on the recruits you bring in next year.

I think it's a no-brainer to make him a QB. 85 Throw Power/ 85 Throw Accuracy would automatically make him one of the best quarterbacks in the game, and coupled with that speed he could be deadly. My current superstar QB is a redshirt Senior with 85 throw power/ 87 throw accuracy, and he's awesome; imagine what your guy's ratings will be when he's a Senior! It's easier to recruit good WRs and CBs, and while he'd be good at either of those positions, I feel like it's easier to find WR and CB recruits with similar stats, but even 4 and 5 star QB recruits don't come in with 85/85 throw power and accuracy ratings.

If you're basing this off of THP/THA, then 85/85 certainly doesn't "automatically make him one of the best QBs in the game." Hell, 2/3 of my QBs in my OD have much better arms than that and those are just the guys on my team. The other user teams all have QBs with better arms too.

Here are my 3 QBs:

Re: Recruiting Gems and Busts

I was so torned today on what to do , since he was my best qb (playing at idaho 2 stars) i decided that i will alter my pro style playbook to add some option and pa on the run for him.

I have two 82 TE and a 77 WR so i can do a lot of PA with him , i think that was i made him a qb in the end and not a CB/WR
