Re: The Official How's Your Dynasty Going Thread NCAA 13

I've never really made Dynasty mode that challenging for me before this year as I'd just play with default sliders and just run rampant. I'd usually end up being ranked by the end of the first year on top of having a ridiculous recruiting class. So, for the first time I made my Dynasty mode a challenge by bringing in tough sliders as well as more realism.

I use the Temple Owls as my school to build up as it's more fun to start at the bottom of the totem pole than at the top. I started as a sole DC and just finished our first year in the Big East. It went reasonably well, finishing with a 6-5 record in the regular season. I both love and loathe the frustration I had from not having much talent on the defensive side combined with the offense rarely doing much to help me.

The most heartbreaking game was against Rutgers during my big recruiting visit week. I managed to hold their offense to 17 points and our offense matched them, so I was excited to possibly pull off the upset. Then I watched as our QB throws a Pick Six from within our own 20 on third down with less than a minute to go.

We did manage to make a bowl game, the Champs Sports Bowl against a 23rd ranked Clemson team. Naturally, we were spanked 47-14. Still, it was a good building season, I think. I accomplished most of my goals and had a pretty good recruiting class during the season that includes a plethora of three star players and quite a few gems with no busts - pretty good for a first year Big East team that's only a two star. If I can manage to snag two or three really good prospects in the off-season, I might be set for a bright future.

Loving the game so far this year. Like I said it's frustrating so far but I like the challenge - it'll make it worth it when I start playing better and become the HC.

THE SURPRISE HIRE OF O'BANNON AS OC
By Brock Silvers

Today it was announced that Upper Sandusky (OH) High School Offensive Coordinator is Terry Bowden's choice to be The OC at Akron. This is consider a shocking hire as Terry's younger brother Jeff Bowden & Bowden's OC at Northen Alabama Alan Arrington were consider the 2 front runners.

O'Bannon is only 22 yrs old with only one year experience as a Offensive Cooridnator on the high school level. As a Ohio native it should help some on the recruiting front in the state of Ohio.

At Upper Sandusky he was incharge of installing the Spread Option Offense. It is unclear though which style of offense will be ran in the upcoming season for the Zips.

In our next edition we will have a complete Bio on Matt O'Bannon. In some upcoming editions we will have a 2 Part Preseason Preview covering your Akron Zips and also the rest of The NCAA.

BIO & INTERVIEW
By Brock Silvers
Most people don't know who Matt O'Bannon is, so we had a chance to interview the newest member to The Akron Zip staff. He was signed to a 3 year deal. Along with being hired as The Offensive Coordinator, he will also be The Head Recruiting Coordinator and also the Offensive Line Coach. Below is a few highlights our our interview with him.

Silvers) What were your feelings when Terry Bowden called you and offered you the OC position at Akron?

O'Bannon) Shocked, surprise to be honest. I had to have him repeat it just because I thought I had misheard him. I thought I had a good shot in being the Offensive Line Coach and maybe a scout/recruiter of some sort. I never thought I would be The OC, Head Recruiting Coordinator and also O-Line coach.

Silvers) What kind of offense do the fans expect to see on the field in the 2012-2013 season?

O'Bannon) Well we will be installing the Spread Option Offense. Alot of fans and sports casters don't truly understand it. Though I think when the fans see it on the field they'll love it. The fans just want wins and scoring I truely believe in time they will see both on the field.

Silvers) As you said earlier you weren't expecting all the job titles that Terry Bowden has faith in you handling. With that said do you think all of those duties will become overwhelming?

O'Bannon) If I were trying to handle all of them on my own then I would say yes. Specially this season with us being a new staff to the players and changing the style of offense from what they ran last season. As for recruiting and scouting we got great personal like John Pont to help out in those areas so no details are missed.

Silvers) What type of recruits are you looking for?

O'Bannon) Hard working is number 1. If you have a team full of hard workers then you'll have a winning program. After you make sure you got that then you make sure they fit the particular program your looking to run. So as for us running The Spread Option a pocket passer won't fit our scheme, and so on.

Silvers) I heard that you really dislike Michigan, Why so?

O'Bannon) First, we don't call it by that name, its either the Team Up North, or The Northern Junkyard. My grandfather was a huge Buckeyes fan and a big Woody Hayes fan, so you could say alot of that rubbed off on me. Never been to that state, until this season when we have to play one of thier teams. I plan to bring plenty of my own food and water and sleep on the bus. If we run out of gas we're pushing the bus across the border or I'm walkin home.

Silvers) Finally, what would you consider a successful 2012-2013 season?

O'Bannon) Improvement, and not giving up. We got work hard this season, week, game, quarter, minute, and every practice. We can't let up even on a play or a down. This is the building block to make the next play, game and so on more successful than the previous. I think we have a really underated team, I think we are going to surprise and make some noice in The MAC this season.
