Ok, the biggest problem I have believing this is that everyone else has said the running game has been completely revamped and is greatly improved both inside and outside.

Please explain how you thought the running would be "revamped"?

-More moves? (different jukes, spins, etc)
-Better blocking schemes? (double team blocking)
-more/less momentum?
-More diverse run plays?
-Brand new tackling engine?

Those would all drastically change the running. None have been implemented. Believe what you want my friend...my dirty lies will be exposed in just two short days, so why worry. EGM said its totally revamped so it MUST be true, right? Right?

It's common knowledge that the momentum has been changed, as far as juking and cutting. It's common knowledge that the inside running game has been improved by new animations, etc.

and just for the sake of argument, the entire Home Field Advantage feature could be construed as both a gameplay *and* presentation upgrade. From all the impressions and reviews I've read, there are more than just a "few" new animations, as well.

On a side-note, the WR's drop a TON more passes this year. A TON. It plays similar to NFL2K3 where you really have to find the WIDE open man. No complaints though, 'bout time the offense got reined in. Say hello to the re-appearance of the 10-3 ballgame.

I have the XBOX version and I can vouch for this statement with the drop passes. As far as the playbooks go if you're use to playing the ESPN NFL2KX series then the number of formations in the both NCAA and Madden would be a small disappointment. The inside running game is much better especially the counter plays.

Yeah the counters are alot better, but haven't you found that you still bounce them outside 90% of the time? We did. Maybe you're a more patient runner. How do you like the presentation? Are you dissapointed, or are the gameplay improvements enough to satisfy you? Just curious for the opinion of someone else who's played it.

And Oh Yeah...Have you tried to adjust the catching sliders? I assume that would fix the problem, but we didn't mess with em. Then again I'm not sure I want it fixed. I kinda like the idea of single-digit games.

If the above post is true, it looks like VC rubbed off a bit on EA. They seemed to have made playing offense more of a you got to know what yah doing thing instead of a chuck and duck, audible, scramble, AI exploit affair.

I don't see this as trying to beat up EA and amp up VC. If EA has done things to make the game more balanced and competitive by using VC's ideas and can still manage to keep their games identity then thats cool. You should have a decent football game coming out Wednesday.

Using the Home field advantage as a means to making it difficult to audible shows creativity...being innovative. Something EA has been slow at. Its cool to rehash a few things here in there every year but when you dont add anything that brings a different dynamic to the game that makes the game more fun or interesting, the game will become stale for us who have been playing since 91. The noobs who have been only playing 5 years or less I can understand your jollies being up over this game, but us lifers need a bit more to look forward to. So try and understand the negatives you hear in the above review are not done just for the sake of being negative or trying to "hype" the other football game.

The "other football game" may indirectly be bringing you the best EA NCAA Football game you have ever played.

I agree, competition breeds the best of improvements. If they had no competition making changes and improvements in areas, and the chance for us to be spending our money elsewhere we wouldn't be seeing the improvements that we are.
