Wake Forest always ends up being successful, same with Rutgers for some reason

Re: Dynasty patterns

Oklahoma usually always has a really impressive team but always loses 1/2 games. I see a lot of Bama dropping off as well.

But what usually always happens, every single time. Whatever conference I am in starts placing top 10 teams like crazy.

For example: started got OC with Kentucky SEC is a power conference and understandable.
Go to AAC HC at Cincy. Start having at least 1 other top 10 team not being me. By the time I left for OU in the B1G half the conference was ranked and pushing into top 10.
-Year 6 @ OU and the last season I playing 4/10 were B1G with only ok st, Rutgers, and Maryland not being ranked in top 25. So I put OU as an I independent for the next season.

I noticed that as well. In the Big 10 East Division, I've seen as many as four or five teams in the Top 25 (Me being PSU, then MICH, MSU, Rutgers and Ohio State all in Top 25).

One thing that I did is put all the armed services teams in one division in the American Conference - crazy thing is that the conference is now a powerhouse which means prestige etc all get better for the academies and make them even stronger.

Re: Dynasty patterns

Realignment keeps the service academies out. I haven't done a full write-up on this, but I got the idea from someone else on the forum.

Split the country into four regions (North, South, Central, and West). Run a three-tier system from there. Use overall ratings, rather than records, to determine who goes to what tier.

I've attached my current alignment for those that are interested. If anyone wants more information, I'll do a thread.

I'm interested in a thread. I've got a promo relegation dynasty but I definitely use records instead of overalls.

Re: Dynasty patterns

Saban just retired in my dynasty. After keeping Bama in the top 10 the first 4 years(using this year's rosters as my base) he went 4-7 at the age of 70 and retired. Probably a good call. USC and Miami have been the two best teams in this dynasty. Usually both fall off in my other dynasties. USC has won 2 titles and Miami has played for 2 and won 1, lost the other to USC. They just won the last title in year 5 against Nebraska in a game they were up 4 TDs at the half. Sound familiar?

It's interesting seeing the patterns in my current dynasty. A lot of blue bloods are doing well. Miami, Texas, USC, Nebraska, Ohio State are all constantly top 10 teams. Clemson has stayed in the top 10 as well. Them and Miami have met in the ACC title game either 4 of the 5 years or all 5 years.

Yea, it's nice to see a lot of the traditional powers staying pretty consistent at or near the top. '14 does really well in this regard compared to some past versions. I played a ton of 2003 and 2004 and North Texas, Ohio Bobcats and Miami (of Ohio) would consistently emerge as national powers. I think it was due in part to fertile recruiting grounds.

Re: Dynasty patterns

One thing I do with the service schools is edit all their QBs to be low 70s throw power, high 50s throwing accuracy. For whatever reason, this tends to keep them in check.

For GT I'll usually do high 70s throw, high 60s acc.

The one thing I also look out for, is watch every year for the coaching carousel and make sure none of the service school coaches go somewhere else and run a service school playbook, lol. If they ever move somewhere else, I usually edit them to a default Spread Option playbook and move them to 30/70 run/pass or so so it doesn't get weird.
