Career Mode, Loss of Youth Academy Players and disappearing FA's

I've tested simming a season with Spurs and Chelsea and didn't see any FA's disappear in either case. Unfortunately it looks like the AI teams don't sign FA's, but at least they didn't disappear. I haven't tested with youth players yet.

It also seems they don't let their player go. From now on I'm going to resign players I don't want and sell them. I was going to this before but didn't want to limit my funds during the summer incase to transfers came for either player. I also didn't know they would disappear. I'm just going to continue my CM for now and pretend that Anelka retired and Kalou got lost somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle.

So if I read this right, you can release your youth players into the free agents, resign them in the following transfer window, and the "contract accepted" bug disappears? If so, that's at least a small comfort in knowing that scouting isn't a total waste. Thanks for the idea.

Still doesn't fix the countless youth players already lost, though. Guess I'll have to re-start Career Mode and just use this alternate method.

I saw your post on the EA forum but I figured I'd copy and paste my response here as well:

I've run two separate career sims and this issue appeared in both. No matter what length of contract I signed a youth player to (1-4 years) he would always show up as "contract accepted" for the duration of said contract. I was unable to renegotiate or resign any of these players at any time over the life of the contract. Once the contract expired, the player was lost.

This is a serious issue for CM players and needs to be addressed immediately. Not only does it render the Scouting and Youth Squad features obsolete but it prevents new players from replacing those who are removed from the game.

Thanks for the reply. I just sent EA another email about the issue, hopefully I'll eventually get a reply. Maybe if more of us who are experiencing the issue report it to them, they'll give it a little more attention and fix the problem.

For now, it seems like the only possible fix for the problem is to release the youth academy players before their contract expires, and then re-sign them from the free agents at the next transfer window. Very tedious, very annoying way of retaining your players, but for now it seems it's our only option.

Problem with that plan is the cost of doing so. Maybe not a big deal with some clubs, but for Blackpool, I don't have enough funds to do this (yeah, we're poor).

Lol, well I'm playing with West Ham, so we're not too much better off moneywise. And I actually just tried the method of releasing them from the youth academy and trying to pick them up in the free agency at the next transfer window....they disappeared (shocker, I know). So as of now, I'm done with Career Mode until this gets sorted out.

Until then, I guess it's pro clubs.

I'm a bit confused. I can resign my youth players. Is this a issue past year one? I'm in January of my first year and able to resign my youth players that are already on my Sr team.


Do you really care where I sent this from?
