It depends on what type of team you want and how you want to build it. Atletico just lost their 3 best players, IMO, Diego Costa, Diego, and Courtois. So they are in need of some help now. Dortmund could be fun but they also just lost one of their best players to their rival Munich in Lewandowski. And I don't know much about Roma.

Only a few months left in the season, I can't wait to see how it shapes up across all competitions.

I've noticed that too! Tottenham are beasts in my CM right now. I still remember when they welcomed me to the BPL with a big 4-1 defeat. Doesn't help that they have Leandro Paredes now (Thanks a lot Rabbit! :P) I was dying in the end of that Europa League match I couldn't believe I was so close to getting knocked out. Luckily my impact sub Max Clayton was present to save my a**!

So close but yet so far away! The matches against the others in the top 8 will be like cup finals. The worst part is that all of those teams use formations that make it difficult to effectively run a 3-5-2.

Pride of Berlin

August 2016

Transfers In:

DeAndre Yedlin

76 Ovr, Right Back, 24 Years Old

€3,200,000

Hertha BSC completed their cheapest signing of the summer with the arrival of the American fullback DeAndre Yedlin. The young US international had one year left on his contract and he joined for a bit over three million euros the German champions from Seattle Sounders in the MLS. Yedlin is really fast and attacking minded full back who has a big potential. He will get some games in the Bundesliga as a probable second-choice right back.

Stefan Reinartz

78 Ovr, Central Defensive Midfielder, 27 Years Old

€3,500,000

Ganchev's Hertha have confirmed the signing of German holding midfielder Stefan Reinartz from Bayer Leverkusen. He's another player who had one year left on his contract which lead to a cheap price. Reinartz is a good substitute who will play when Nemanja Matic is unavailable.

Alberto Moreno

81 Ovr, Left Back, 24 Years Old

€9,700,000

A surprising signing which will made some fans happy was Ganchev's decision to buy the Spanish left back Alberto Moreno from Sevilla. It's reported that Ganchev started scouting Moreno after Hertha's Champions League matches with Sevilla when Moreno kept Gareth Bale in his pocket through both games. The Spaniard is really fast and he likes to attack a lot, which leads to him being able to play on the wing like another Spanish left back, Jordi Alba. It's still not sure what Ganchev will do with Marcos Rojo and Moreno who are competing for the left back spot.

Daniel Carvajal

81 Ovr, Right Back, 24 Years Old

€14,000,000

Another fullback who got bought by Hertha, this time in the last our of the transfer window was Dani Carvajal. The Spaniard is Real Madrid's youth product and he had a successful comeback season winning La Decima and taking Arbeloa's place. Carvajal is a straight replacement for Sebastian Jung who departed in the window. Carvajal is faster and more agile but also weaker than Jung but the Spanish man is more attacking and faster. This will be Carvajal's second spell in Germany after playing for Leverkusen in 2013. The right back will form an ex-Real Madrid partnership with Gareth Bale on the right wing.

Thomas Müller

87 Ovr, Right Midfielder, 27 Years Old

€20,000,000

The biggest and most expensive signing made by Ganchev's Hertha in the summer was buying the German star striker/wide midfielder, Thomas Müller, from Bayern Munich. The German attacker arrived for only 20 million euros which is considered as a bargain. Müller is a great attacker with his exceptional positioning and finishing. He can play in every attacking position on the pitch and he will do well in any of them. Hertha's supporters are really happy about the signing, but there's one question about the signing: where will he play?

Transfers Out

Sebastian Jung,
€13,000,000
Daley Blind,
€7,400,000
Enner Valencia,
€3,800,000
Peter Pekarik,
€1,200,000
Fabian Johnson,
€1,100,000

August 2016

Eintracht Frankfurt 1 - 1 Hertha BSC
Inui 78'
Meyer 45'

Herha BSC 1 - 2 Mainz 05
Müller 60'
Koo 76', Okazaki 83'

VfL Stuttgart 1 - 2 Hertha BSC
Braithwaite 45'
Lacazette 82', Müller 85'

Hertha BSC 1 - 1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
Bale 89'
Seferovic 90'

Bayer Leverkusen 2 - 1 Hertha BSC
Son 30', Remy 49'
Müller 68'

Hertha were looking to end their terrible form and get the three points against Leverkusen but it wasn't meant to be. Hertha's defence made two mistakes which lead to two goals. The Berliners tried to equalise but they couldn't get anything done except for a consulation goal by Thomas Müller. The loss put the holding champions in the bottom half of the table.

Starting XI (4-1-4-1 custom):

Kraft 81
Carvajal 81 - Ginter 82 - Schär 84 - Moreno 81
Matic 82
Bale 91 - Stocker 84 - Kovacic 85 - Depay 79
Müller 87

League Table

1. VfL Wolfsburg, 13 pts
2. Borussia Mönchengladbach, 13 pts
3. Borussia Dortmund, 12 pts
4. Bayern Munich, 11 pts
5. Eintracht Frankfurt, 11 pts
6. Hamburger SV, 10 pts
---------------------------------------
11. Hertha BSC, 5 pts
---------------------------------------
16. 1899 Hoffenheim, 2 pts
17. Werder Bremen, 0 pts
18. Hannover 96, 0 pts

Press Conference

Good Afternoon. You had some terrible results this month which lead to you being in eleventh. What do you think about this?

The results were absolutely horrible but so was our game. When you play poorly you get poor results, that's often the case. We were terrible in defence, alright in midfield and terrible in attack. This kind of form can not continue and we are doing our best to start winning matches. I'm working really hard with the players and with the staff and I hope we can improve.

Why did you play so badly?

I don't know at all. The team has become stronger on paper but on the pitch the team plays like bunch of kids. We are trying to find the problem and fix it. Maybe it's our playing style or maybe our players aren't focusing enough, I don't know.

Are you afraid of being fired?

No, I'm not. The club wouldn't do something like that to a man who has made this team into a feared force. In football the owners are usually short-sighted and they don't think about the future or the accomplisments of the managers. Here in Hertha the owners are different. They trust in their staff and they forgive our small mistakes.

Let's talk about transfers. Could you explain all the deals?

Let's start with the sales. Daley Blind was terrible for us last season and we got a good offer for him. Now we have a better player in Reinartz who we got for a lot cheaper. Enner (Valencia) was really good for us but with the arrival of Alex (Lacazette) who is a similar player we didn't really need him and, once again, the deal was good. Fabian Johnson and Peter Pekarik just aren't good enough for the team and they were unhappy in lack of playing time. We brought DeAndre (Yedlin) to replace Pekarik and Alberto (Moreno) and Marcos (Rojo) will play on the left with Alberto taking the bigger role. Dani (Carvajal) was bought because we needed a replacement for Sebastian (Jung). Lastly, we were able to get Thomas Müller for a great price and we needed that extra sharpness in our attack.

You have Galatasaray, Anderlecht and Lokomotiv Moscow in your Champions League group. Any thoughts?

They all are good teams who can surprise and they are equal sides. It will be interesting to see who of them will finish second in the group because the first place will be taken by us.

Thank you for reading the post! Any feedback and suggestions will be appreciated!

Simppu how in gods name did you get Muller for only €20,000,000. Also I love the Yedlin signing. I have had as my starter at right back because of speed and that he is attack minded. I usually work up the sidelines and get the ball to the middle. Muller should be great for you. One suggestion I do have for you though is to try and get a good striker so you can Muller back to his natural position of right mid because when I used him at Munich I played him outside and he still scored a ton. I mean your team should be nasty soon with Kovacic, Bale, & Muller.

Müller had one year left on his contract and his value was about €24 million. I started offering from €17 million and they accepted the €20 million bid which was awesome.

I played Müller on the right and on the left for few games but he wasn't that good there. Benteke was really bad so I decided to give Müller a shot in the middle and he's been really good there.

OK that makes sense on the contract and value part. And it could just be the style of play that I use then. Because I like to take the ball up the sideline and if there is an open shot I'll take it but if it isn't there I'll try to cross it and head it in.
