Re: NHL 13 Gameplay Video

To me I just think the best way to look at NHL 13 is

1. It's not going to live up to completely realistic play that we see in real life. That's just the way it is, and it probably will never happen. I've finally started to realize that because hockey is just too complicated and has way too many things that happen during the game.

2. It's just one video from E3 that I'm sure was scaled so that rocket passing was still in to emphasize other gameplay elements (At least that better be why)

3. We have so many other videos, info, and a demo to come out that judging it off this one video isn't the greatest thing to do. I'm trying not to but it's extremely hard. I will be incredibly disappointed though if the same issues that we all spoke about in NHL 12 (rocket passing, pass reception) are not fixed for 13.

Overall the game does look better as of now and rocket passing still has me incredibly concerned but who really knows. I really think it's a wait and see approach. If things like rocket passing aren't fixed the only choice is to not buy the game. It sucks because it's our only option but if that's what it comes down to don't waste your money. Hell I'm still not completely sold on the game yet. The AI and skating look great but I'm still really skeptical on the goalies and rocket passing. If I find I don't like what I'm seeing or the demo feels the same as NHL 12 and the other iterations, then I probably won't buy the game. However, going the entire year without a new hockey game would be extremely difficult.

All in all it really sucks going into a new game and not fully knowing what you are going to get. I would prefer if it was a really good game that they just had to keep tweaking things, and adding things to Be A GM or other modes. It would make buying the game so much easier. I just have that comfortable feeling with The Show that I know what I'm going to get each year and I'm fully committed to buying the game knowing it's going to be good. I really wish NHL was this way but I don't think it will ever get to that point.

It's just lame when people play that card, because I'm sure as hell a really hockey fan. I watch all the Pens games. I get into the strategy. I keep up with the farm team. But I'll still enjoy NHL 13. When you indirectly insult people's hockey knowledge, it's bound to piss a few people off.
This. Like I said, there's ways to go about pointing out flaws without coming off as a total snarky douche.

I think that's fair, I'm not at all keen on the tape to tape passes either, and really hope this is just an indication of a work in progress early build, and hearing QB mention EAC is aware of the pass reception slider issues, and really how could they not be with the game having been out in the wild for almost a full cycle now. Leads me to believe it'll either be adjusted, or that may be once again one element of the game we'll be disappointed it.

It's never going to be 100% sim. Once one realizes that as fact and just enjoys it for what it is, it goes down a bit easier I suppose? I dunno.

There's things about the game that bug me, it's far from perfect as I've said time and time again, but at the end of the day, I have fun playing it and I get a challenge out of Superstar, which is I think what's important, at least for me tending to be a bit more forgiving than certain people.

You guys need to stop. Now. Many of you have multiple warnings over the last couple of years. I don't want to start handing out reds.

Look at what happened.

Constructive criticism is a good thing, especially in an early build for a game coming out, not sure why some of you get so defensive.
I didn't really see much constructive criticism in the thread sans a post or two...

Just a bunch of people at each other's throats and various raging/name calling.

Re: NHL 13 Gameplay Video

Sad because no one really knows how great or bad NHL 13 is going to be at this point. We haven't seen much to really make us believe one way or the other. I would say at this point , I feel it will be better than NHL 12. Alot better? Maybe, maybe not. For the record NHL 12 was the best of the NHL series...on paper. The problem was some of the implementation was poor.
