Much better, thanks Redshirt, much appreciated.....

Is there anything you can do for the cpu instigating a fight now, with itself (in cpu v cpu or coach mode) or against a user team? If we can get that sorted then the game would be complete.

Thanks

These tuners are patches, right?
Well, not really.

A patch is downloaded before the game is started, and is then a part of the game, like it or not.
A patch could contain new code, like bug fixes.

The tuners a small (or big) adjustments of the already existing values of the available sliders in the game settings.
In the settings you as an offline user can then choose to use and earlier tuner if you liked it better, whereas the online game always use the latest tuner.

So, if you don't like 1.04 you can just change your local settings and use 1.02 if you preferred that one (offline).

The only real difference is instead of having ~30 sliders there are several thousand tuning parameters that can be altered with the tuning updates and they can affect behavior at a much finer level of detail.

This is still far more limited than what can be done in a patch, but has the advantage of very quick turnaround times. A minor tuning update can be done in about a day, whereas any patch will take a minimum of 2-3 weeks, significantly longer if it has many changes.

and do not forget a PATCH costs a lot more money as the Tuner Updates ;-)

This is true also, though I can't imagine getting more than the 2-4 patches we get every year given the time they take -- even if they were "free". I'm guessing (with no numbers to back it up) that the development costs are the biggest part of the cost of making a patch. (In practice those costs might not count the same to bean counting types because they don't change the bottom line -- they just eat at the development time for the next year's product).

I know I'm late to the party but I also wanted to thank RedShirt and the EA Team for addressing the penalty issue. Has made the game much better and I find myself wanting to play it as consistently (i.e. close to nightly basis) as I have the other games in the franchise.
