BIG FAT THANK YOU EA and Redshirt_EA

its official... i really like TUNER 1.04. after a disappointing year with NHL 12 with lack of penalties and poor gameplay. i thought NHL 13 will be a gold (because of the skating innovation) but burried to be forgotten (because of lack of penalties).

now, with some slight adjustmens to the sliders (game speed and accel., 3 penalties sliders, fatigue/recov, PRO and 9 min) this TUNER 1.04 made it ALMOST complete. im sure we're going to see vast improvements in the presentation in NHL 14

apprecaite Redshirt_EA for dropping by and really, genuinely concern for people finding this game hard to swallow because of penalty issue. i am one of the very vocal members who complain about this issue. but i would like to make this thread to express my joy in playing this game AGAIN! (give where the honor is due as they say),

    THANK YOU EA and REDSHIRT_EA.

Yes, thank you very much! I am now enjoying the game more. Thank you for listening to us. By doing so, you have earned my money for NHL 14.

I agree it was great they made the adjusments and appreciate the effort. Just need a little more tweaking to make it more consistent and a little more and it will be perfect for me. I am still seeing some low totals, especially for the CPU, but certainly a good step in the right direction.

      Thanks!

        Great thread Canucksss!

I'd like to say thank you to Jason, too. He listened to our concerns, and acted. That's pretty cool. I believe I was playing last night with the redeployed V1.04 and had six penalty calls total. [10 minute periods] Imo...well within reason.

I got waxed by the Caps in that game 6-2...but that's another story. Really liked the cpu's aggression, and the calls seemed very reasonable. I'm pleased with V1.04. Thanks again, Jason!

if i may add.... i hope there'll be REAL NHL season so i can watch (specially Canucks vs Wilds..since they got 2 star players) games. but because of this improvement in NHL 13, i wouldnt mind if there'll be no REAL season, so i have more time to play the game and so somehow satisfy my hockey thirst

I'd like to echo the thanks. The game's solid enough now. Lower penalty calls today but I think the pattern seems to be that if the CPU is winning or the game is tied then he's not going to commit infractions as easily - that's natural enough and I didn't actually see many things that should have been CPU pens so I'm content with things -apart from my poor defending.

Definitely seeing more calls in the third when the players get tired so might tinker with fatigue a little.

Overall, it's a great tuner and the game is far more stable than 12, so after a few weeks pain, offline players are a happy bunch. Genuinely don't know who to start my season mode with. Islanders? Canucks?, heck I really enjoyed playing a few games with the Oilers last night.

I'll add my gratitude. Thanks Redshirt, especially for your communication on the subject. I know the lack of communication between developer and consumer can be frustrating, but I really appreciated an update on the penalty situation. Thanks for all of your hard work. I can now finally start my Be a GM!

you guys on xbox or ps3? ps3 seems to be getting a lot of freezing issues with 1.04. i really like the tuner but i had enough freezes in nhl 12. dont need more in 13. hope they take note this year instead of ignoring all the people that experience the freezes.

I did experience a problem which started as a freeze and then moved super super slow motion. Paused, waited, tried to play and it did not change. Had to do a reset.

I was getting worried that penalties wouldn't be fixed at all this year. Thank you EA, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Now...just don't mess this up when you update the tuner again

I think it did have something to do with being connected to the internet. I got the message saying to check my ethernet connection which is perfectly fine.

I'm on the 360, and thankfully [knocks on wood] no freezing issues to this point.

With V1.04, I'm getting a good amount of calls now using 10 minute periods All-Star normal. All penalty sliders maxed. I'd say I'm averaging 4-6 calls total. For me...I'm pretty happy with that.

I PM'ed Jason [Red_Shirt] yesterday, and he was kind enough to PM me back. I don't think I'm betraying any confidants by saying Jason had some very nice things to say about us here on OS. That was great to hear!

Can only agree with the posters in this thread.

I started off two games co-op with a mate after the tuner release, and was very disappointed.

The CPU only drew 3 penalties total during these two games, whereas our CPU player drew about 6 and we, humans, drew about 5-6. Both those games we lost big though.

My impression was that the tuner was a dud, and all hope was lost.

But continuing playing during the night we witnessed that playing a better positional game, and keeping the game closer, we started to see results that was more than enjoyable.
Taking a lead in a game, and playing solid defense and circling the puck on the attack made the CPU "frustrated".
First time since release I got to try out a 5-on-3 PP, that was sweet.

Now, I'm actually in the progress of trying to lower the general "Penalty" slider, just to see if we can get less silly penalties, but still keep the number of true penalties.

Anyway, the whole penalty debacle, You coming here Redshirt, is a sample of perfect community-developer communication, feedback and action.

Let's keep the good work up!

                              Thanks a lot!
