finally, this should probably go in impressions so it'll probably get closed.

But then i just sat down and realized, FOR A FIRST NEXT GEN RELEASE this game is looking really amazing. At a starting point of current gen we didn't have all we have now or had to be exact. For example EASHL HUT, LTL etc.

What i want to say is we are so used to have all the modes and everything. Series was on stand still graphic and gameplay wise. so they just had to put other in my opinnion usesless modes in the game, to make it more attractive until the Next gen come out.

So now the cycle goes again. first we will get graphic quality rise for couple of years. then the modes will come. GRAPHICS was their main concern.
AND in my mind mainly all of the modes or 90% will be back next year.

Maybe we just don't know how hard it was to get those graphics right, presentation and everything. There wasn't enough time to get everything in.
Like gameplay wise this game is like night and day vs old gen. everything feels and looks so much better. And almost everyone who whines does it because of modes not the gameplay.

If they put the modes in THIS GAME WILL BE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.

YOU Can't have everything in first release of next gan game.
While I agree with you on this (heck, NHL 07 had the NHL ONLY) the problem here is, it was ok back then because the game was just miles ahead because of skill stick, graphics and everything. It was a price everybody liked to pay.

This year, while I am sure the devs coded the game from the ground up new because of the new consoles, the step the users see isn't as big as before.

That is the real problem here. In my opinion, the game is far superior to the old gen in gameplay. But you have to play it a bit to notice. There is basically no "WOW"-effect that we had back in 06 when NHL 07 launched.

And this is why everybody is upset. It is hard because NHL 14 was better than NHL 06 for PS2/PC/XBOX relative to the time.

I don't blame the devs, it is stupid to think, they didn't worked their asses of. Everybody who ever developed something knows, that you try to make it perfect and bullet proof. But the man power is missing to bring all the features in. Maybe, the head of EA said to leave some features out to bring them back in as bigger features in later years.

The communication is horrible and the product is not that much different to NHL 14 than 07 was to 06. And that is the problem here.

If there is an an indie, open-source, multi-platform hockey project, then it will be without the official NHL-License.

Just let fans make custom jerseys and rosters, no need for licenses...

I just pointed, that an indie-developer, who want to create a multi-platform hockey project, won´t be allowed to use NHL-releated stuff.

Then make a fantasy hockey game. Crikey make alien and robot teams just so long as a new project gets up.

Maybe we, as fans can start one up? Gather enough momentum for a developer to bite. Basically "We're kickstarting for any developer with past hockey experience to build a new, authentic hockey game. These dollars go to you. Kind of like a grant, so to speak."

Just a thought. I'm sure there is more to it than that.

It cost between 25 and 50 millions to develop a sports games. Good luck on your kickstarter.
