Hey I can understand your frustration but in truth we did know what the game was gonna be and why before release and I much rather have the gameplay and other must haves complete and out of the way as EA has created a great base to build upon and hopefully they will do that .

Now they could have half arsed the gameplay and put in bug filled modes to make most happy but then what type of base would we have for the future ?

Its also why EA chose to bring back NBA elite/live fiasco and not say MVP baseball as baseball just isnt a big enough $$$ base as they rather have say 30% Nba sales then 50% MLB sales if you know what I mean (random numbers of course ) .

So just like other things be careful what you wish for because if something doesnt make money its by by these days and EA NHL doesnt exactly have a huge budget to start with so it wouldnt take much to sink it or reduce it to a yearly roster update .

Gameplay this year is incredible !?!? Really??? Gameplay this year is definitely improved, but come on its far from incredible..... With so many basic features missing the Gameplay should be absolutely immaculate in order to compensate, and justify the full $60 asking price. Board-play is still a joke and hasn't been addressed in years, The AI is spotty at best and at times down right pathetic, lastly the player rating system needs a complete overhaul. Offensive and defensive awareness ratings need to be split up and changed. On offense: Vision / Offensive positioning. Defense: Interceptions/
Defensive positioning. This would help go along way in separating the goal scorers from the player-makers and the defenders who play it safe from the gamblers. Addtionally, much like NBA 2K and fifa individual player traits and characteristics should be added.

Oh Yeah and even without many modes its my sports game of the year on gameplay alone and that says it all !

I was so wrong and heres another tip for you boys this game really needs to be played on near default Allstar as theres more then enough penalties as I like others tweaked this game to death as it plays alot like MLBTS slider wise and a click or two here and there can really mess up the game and NHL 15 is actually really good this year right out of the box !

If you bought it on the PS3/Xbox 360, it was a 60 dollar roster update.

I think that your blanketed statement doesn't fit the situation when speaking to the NHL series by EA. Furthermore, I think that is a dangerous mindset to fill people's minds with the notion that you must continue to support a franchise that continues to disappoint on many fronts just to keep them "afloat".

NHL is not going anywhere anytime soon because they have a commitment to fulfill to shareholders, the National Hockey League, and due to the fact that the video game still does turn a profit.

Furthermore (and to the other posters in this room), to those who would suggest that this game should have been released at a discount or delayed have little to now idea of how the industry operates. These two options were not feasible with this game and logistically speaking you could even ask "why would you delay a game when you could release it as is and still get a huge chunk of purchases and then patch things in later anyway?".

That is more of the mindset of what EA is coming from. Delaying this game a month or two still likely wouldn't have permitted this development team the chance to get to most of the features that people want in the game. Case in point, the fact that very few things are going to be patched into the final copy by the end of October as it stands now.

Finally, to those that feel the need to come in and defend this game and it's "wonderful gameplay" in nearly every post; It's getting old!

You clearly have an agenda to fill. And your pushing it on to everyone else on these forums is doing nothing but agitating an already angry group of consumers that feel slighted. In the end you are no better than the people you are trying to fight with, the ones that are crying and complaining in every thread about the same things over and over.

If you wish to be positive or negative you should be constructive. Point out what particulars you like or dislike with examples. General blind complaints or compliments that are repetitive, as we have seen here so much of late, are against OS and their TOS.

And personally, I think that if you're such a proponent of how awesome this game is, which is fine to have that opinion, but I think that if you feel that way you would be spending more time playing your awesome game and less time trying to fill that agenda of making sure everyone else knows exactly how you feel.

My 2 cents.

Re: It's been a few weeks, how are the sales numbers?

Back on topic.

It is too soon after release to get any sales figures yet, but here is a site you can check with in the future. http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=nhl+15

This is not official but should suffice because EA doesn't announce their sales figures with NHL from what I recall.

Question. Would you buy and play a hockey game that didnt look as good as EA's but looked pretty good, BUT played excellent, realistic, strategic, teams felt different and was highly moddable? It also came with a kick *** player editor.

Yeah, it might not look as good as EAs but it played like a dream. I would be all over that.

It can be done, it needs a push.
You bet your arse id buy it Grog. Thought about this for a while actually. Id say dont even mess with the Licences at first just make a robust editor and let the community have at it we would have NHL rosters within weeks of release. Just look at the dedication NHL 2004 still gets.

EA are big business and they dont give a rats *** about us just the bottom line and i hope the sales of NHL hurt them.

So, the only people that have an agenda are the people that like the game???? I think that the constant barrage of threads started about everything that someone thinks is wrong with this game far outweighs the number of people who "blindly" support EA.

That being said, the amount of "You're wrong, I'm right" that gets thrown around on these forums is incredible. It definitely goes both ways and it does get kind of old after a while.

Back on topic, I would guess that sales will be quite down this year, that being said, I get the general feeling that EA is expecting that so I don't think it will change anything. I can't see the PS4 sales being too bad as in reality there just isn't a lot of options for people who own PS4's in terms of games available for that system.

I do agree with an earlier poster that lowering the price from the outset was not feasible as it would have shown that EA consciously put out a game they knew was incomplete. Even if you know it, you don't go around telling everybody. I think the game price will drop, which it has at Walmart, and people that waited will get a game that may be worth what they actually paid for it.

I like this game because it simply fits my life and play style. I have young kids and work 8-5, they go to bed at 8 and I have about 2 hours to myself, unless the wife wants to watch a movie or talk once in a while. I only play Play Now mode because if I tried to start a career I wouldn't even get half done before the next game came out. I don't play online because it is too "win at all costs" and I just don't have the time to find a group of guys to play against where we can all get together and play real hockey. Therefore, this game fits my life and it is better IMHO than any previous iteration.

I will not try to defend EA or my opinion to anybody because I don't have to. EA did what they did and it is up to us to decide how we want to let it affect our lives.
