Games then also weren't released until they were finished, specifically because you only had one shot. You didn't get to say "sorry, we'll try and patch that in".

I think that's the biggest issue people have with it. Some people get it, some don't, and settings don't seem to matter. It seems entirely random, which defeats the purpose of sliders. I know there will always be some games with a lot, and some with a few, but the slider moving all the way left should mean you might see a penalty every 3 games, and all the way to the right should be every single little thing on the ice gets called. There's just no control, and that's what's been frustrating for a while now.

Re: The Little Things that are missing or just not right

Here's a list of some things that I would love to see in the perfect NHL game:

BeaGM
- hire/fire staff (including real life coaches) who have strengths and weaknesses
- total control of the on and off ice product, going from marketing to ticket prices and the number of peanut guys in the stands (maybe a owner mode?)
- have realistic expectations from owner, budget limit, etc.
- contract extensions during seasons
- non trade/movement clauses
- total revamp of the Trade deadline, including trade values for players with 1 year left on their contract and playing for a selling team, maybe add a bidding system to see what other teams are offering
- total revamp of the Free agents day... top free agents don't wait 7 days to sign with a team, they sign mostly on day 1 for the team that pays the most/has a better chance winning the cup
- contracts based on production and age, not solely on overall (seeing a 84 OVR rookie I developed in AHL during 3 years demanding a 5M$ contract is ridiculous)
- salary arbitration
- contract bonuses
- get rid of the 85% contract glitch
- add player/goalie fatigue
- in game goalie injuries
- bring back line chemistry (could be mixed with morale)
- multi-position player (Ie Galchenyuk is a LW/C)
- suspensions
- Hall of fame
- some retired players could become coaches and you can develop them
- draft lottery animation
- edit player ratings during BeaGM
- player demands (ice time, line change, trade, etc.)
- all new Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup presentation
- ECHL affiliates
- keeping track of your CHL rookies
- bring back hot and cold streaks

BeaPro
- realistic coach expectations (shouldn't have to win a faceoff when I'm a LW...)
- draft animations (interviews, team meetings, putting that long awaited NHL jersey for the first time)
- training sessions like MLB The Show to improve your skills
- being able to refuse to sign your entry level contract (Ie you were drafted by Buffalo but you want to be traded)
- coach/GM demands, like more playing time, getting some time off, switching position, number, asking for a trade with a team you selected
- getting more exp points when you win trophies
- interactions between players to build morale/likeability
- contract demands (if my agent tells me I'm worth about 4M$, I could ask for 4M$ and see other teams propositions)

EASHL/OTP
- post whistle penalties... getting really tired of these morons who only try to hit me during offplay. You hit me for no reason? 2 min. You face wash me hoping for a fight and I don't answer? Go to the box.
- player reputation. After every game, we should be able to rate players, so you will be able to track these little ****** who just wait at the red line to get the breakaway pass or that D who is always forechecking on PK
- being able to vote to kick out trolls

General gameplay/presentation (offline and online)
- precision movement on defense
- way better AI on defense and NZ
- stick collisions
- better goalies
- player separation
- getting thrown off faceoffs
- 5 player goal celebration
- multi-type players (Toews is a TWF/PLY)
- AHL Arenas and goal songs
- real team intros
- full player customization (name, face, equipment, goalie masks, etc.)
- create arena/arena customization
- real arena announcers
- french commentators
- fight instigation penalties
- home advantage in line changes
- skating/stance styles to differentiate players (Zubrus is very low when he skates, Stamkos leans forward)
- front of the net melees, mostly when playing a rival or during playoffs (with NZ faceoff when dmen come down in the fight like in real life)

Maybe add a referee mode? Could be really awesome, and could be added as a position to play in EASHL/OTP, like a Special Guest Referee Match in WWE games.

Re: The Little Things that are missing or just not right

the little things that are missing for me all pertain to the EASHL..

why does home team captain host games? Does EA not have better servers?

why can't we edit team jerseys

why can't we edit body weight and height

why can't I untuck my jersey

why is there no free skate in team dressing room for club to practice?

Why is there is NO OTP lobbies? no chat.. no rooms to choose to go in to... how do you expect people to find clubs and in player chat lobbies anymore? I still can't believe they don't have this

this all has been in the game since the EASHL first started in 09.. well most of it...

all these things have been in the game before in years past but once on newer systems the game loses all the options instead of adding more.. I don't get the reason why we even bought next gen systems in PS4 or Xbox one when the games on the older systems had much more options all around and were all around more polished... makes no sense whatsoever

Standing ovation mate from me.
The game is going backwards regarding Editing etc.
Create a player, now lacks the "no play by play name" option (this means if I want to create a player like Panarain (Chicago) whose play by play I wouldnt expect to be in, to be recorded, but would rather it be "blanked" than have to PICK a name from EA`s list.

And where is the neutral zone battling?

And what happened to interactive checking and contact?...its like all players are rubbed down in baby oil and slide off of each other....there's no sense of momentum, weight and follow thru contact or impact between players.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I would love to lay down an Ovechkin style jaw rattling follow thru check into some poor sap to really send his bones reverberating into the boards as I my skates come up off the ice from the accelerated momentum..

This is just not possible...You cant ride up into players against the boards with earth shakin hits....Everything is just soft suction morph magnetic clings when you engage on the boards.

They were supposed to make the checking more realistic and natural....NOT NERFED DOWN by rubbing baby oil and putting invisible non contact halos around all the players!??! Come On EA

Do the right thing here!

Re: The Little Things that are missing or just not right

I'm pretty happy with the game this year in a lot of ways. During a season you can edit players positions to fit your need. The ability to add and edit facial hair and the differences in tape and skate guards and such are nice touches. I feel the game plays looser with more bouncing pucks and deflected passes and shots. There are less big hits and more bumps. Goalies are a little better in their movements, though that is very minor. The atmosphere is a little better with goal songs and mascots.

There's certainly things I want to see improved. The first is the ratings. Right now I'm editing every player on every team. I've played a few test matches with teams I've finished and, adding the above to my improved ratings, the game becomes fantastic. I'm not counting on EA fixing the ratings ever but it's good to know how much I can improve it when I push Hagelin up to a 97 speed and drop Chara down to a 76.

The commentary for me is still really poor. It lacks excitement and variety. The crowd also could have more variety in terms of their enthusiasm and reactions. I want to see various attendance levels and louder arenas for big games.

The immersion is lacking too. Let's talk about around the league scores, the scoring race, maybe show highlights from other games and, for the love of God, show season goal totals. You'd think something that simple could be patched.

Goalies still need to improve a lot more. I've said they're better, and there is something more realistic in some of their movements, but they still need work. There should be actual different styles that are noticeably different visually. There should also be different skating styles and postures so players actually look different on the ice. The really smooth fluid guys, the really upright skaters, the really crouched, explosive skaters.

Penalties also need a lot more frequency and a lot more variety. Let's see some too-many men penalties. Also, I'd like to see goals disallowed for actual intentional kick ins/redirections and the occasional hand pass (both legal/in zone) and stoppage. High stick stoppages could be a nice touch too.

Finally I'd like to see the option to hire coaches. Real would be preferable but if they can't get those rights than what I want to see is that coaches have different styles. Run and gun coaches. Trap it up, defensive coaches. Coaches who are harder on young guys so they develop slower and his veterans last a little longer. Coaches who are good for young guys. The coaches you hire should actually effect how your team plays and how the AI against you plays.

I hope this gets patched in this year. Such an immersion killer for me. It seems like it would be such an easy fix too.
