Wrap up.
Good month, some great wins, some frustrating losses. Many injuries and a few trades at the deadline (below) which could be huge for the outcome to Seattles season.
Last year moving into March the wheels fell off the Cats Season, it will be interesting to find out if the Cats have learnt from this.
One highlight was Roman Josi scoring a hattrick in a 7-0 win against The LA Kings (simulated game).
Spoiler

Trade Deadline -
Its a Deal! Henrik Zetterberg joins the Cats!

1st March - Seattle trades Eric Gelinas 79 Top6 D, Ryan Sproul 77 Top6 D, Jason Spezza (Injured) 83 exact bottom 6 to Detroit for Henrik Zetterberg 82 exact Top9 C, Steven Johns 79 Top6 D, Al Montoya 76 AHL starter G
(As Part of the deal, Robbie Russo was sent down to clear way for Al Montoya who was also later sent down, Both players cleared waivers).

We got our guy, the Detroit Red Wings farewelled their Captain and career player, Henrik Zetterberg (40 yrs old). With Detroit's season languishing outside of finals contention, the deal to trade in Spezza who is on the long term injury list is a positive move for Detroit to enable to give younger players more minutes & clear cap in the years to follow. Zetterberg joins the Cats 4th line (replacing Spezza) with versatility to play on other lines and to play on special teams. Hopefully Z will help the Cats have a decent tilt towards winning the Stanley Cup this year. A shame it did not work out for Spezza who only played 6 games with Seattle, however we are in this business to win cups. (Z's my favorite current Wings player hence why I am happy to have him)

Other Trade Deadline deal.
Offer accepted from Chicago - Seattle Trades Ed Sandford 59 Unsigned Low Top6 D and RD4 Draft pick for Nate Schmidt 78 Top6D and Rd 4 draft pick.
Pretty much a straight player for player trade, Seattle picks up another Top6 D to solidify the 3rd pairing with Gelinas's departure to Detroit.

Current Lines

Van Riemsdyk (88) - Hanzal (89) - Atkinson (89)
Scherbak (84) - Patrick (84) - Burakovsky (85)
Bucek (84) - Brown (84) - Suzuki (80)
Burmistrov. (80) - Zetterberg (82) - Shaw (80)

Shattenkirk (84)- Josi (89)
Crane (87) - Liljegren (78)
Sanheim (83) - Johns (79)

Korpisalo (87)
Subban (84)

SCRATCHES

Injuries
Andre Burakovsky - March 2nd unjured knee missed 5 games

Wrap up
At the end of March the Cats have qualified for the finals and hold a 10point lead over St Loius with only 6 games to go. One more win should almost guarantee the Central Division Title. The Cats are also 4pts in front of Anaheim for the top place in the Western Conference.

Here's hoping for the good fortune to carry on into the finals.

AHL - Burnaby Aces

Overall Record 44-20-12. (1st in Eastern Conference)

Just thought I make special mention of 26 yr old Nicklaus Hansson (76ovr Med 7th D)
I signed him from Free Agency to play for Burnaby about 35 games into the season. In the 41 games played, he has 5 goals and 40 assists (45 points), a gargantuan effort! An NHL berth next season could well be on the cards.

Your team is doing great! Your goalies, especially backup goalie is getting the job done. And that's some impressive production from your rookie skaters!

Re: How's your franchise mode going? NHL 18

2018--2019 Buffalo Sabres season update #4

The next 10 games of the season, 40 overall are complete! We went 6-4-0 on this 10 game stretch. I decided to drop down to playing 5 out of 10 instead of 6 as well this time and will continue that moving forward.

Date: January 6, 2019

Record: 21-12-7 (49pts), third in Atlantic division.

Injuries: LW E. Kane and C J. Eichel both missed games during the last 10 and have since returned. D Scandella is now out with a pulled groin as well.

Games missed due to injury thus far:

C J. Eichel (8)
D N. Beaulieu (7)
LW E. Kane (5)
RW N. Baptiste (2)
LW S. Wilson (1)
C Z. Girgensons (1)
D J. McCabe (1)
D M. Scandella (1 and counting)

Games I played scores:

5-0 W vs Devils

4-2 W vs Blackhawks

3-2 W vs Lightning

2-0 W @ Lightning

3-2 L vs Candiens...Shea Weber scored his 200th career goal against me

Team leaders:

Points... Reinhart 35pts (13g 22a)
Goals... Nylander (16)...he is now progressed to an 85ovr and overtaken LW spot in line 1 over Kane. Kane now in second line
Assists...Reinhart/O'Reilly(22)

Goalie stats:

Robin Lehner- 19w 11l 7otl 5so .921% 2.34gaa

Michael Hutchinson- 2w 2l 0otl 0so .873% 3.56gaa

Rookie skaters:

RW Alexander Nylander 16g 13a
D Victor Antipin 3g 5a
RW Nick Baptiste 4g 4a

Games (5) I will play out of the next 10 games:

@ Ottawa Senators (21-17-3)

vs Ottawa Senators (21-17-3)

vs NY Islanders (15-21-4)

vs Arizona Coyotes (21-18-4)

vs Winnipeg Jets (20-19-4)

These injuries are tough to deal with. Eichel and Kane both now have landed on the injury list twice this season missing many games as mentioned above.

Lehner has shown flashes of greatness for me. Those Tampa Bay games I played he was phenomenal! I couldn't get anything by Carey Price in the loss to Montreal, and honestly had to fight hard for those goals and wins against Tampa.

Basically here at the mid season now and I feel like we should make the playoffs if we can continue to at least play like we have all year. I think a division title will take a serious string of wins as Boston sits atop with 57 points, tied for most in the NHL.

I am very excited about the future with Eichel, Kane, Reinhart, rookie Nylander along with the elite goalies in AHL and two elite forwards I drafted just this past draft. Buffalo will compete for a Stanley Cup soon!

Going very well despite the injuries, the whole team seems to have certainly turned a corner. Looking forward to see what happens next. Boston only needs a bad run and you'll catch them up in no time hopefully.

Seattle Battle Cats Season 2020/21
Playoffs Round 2 vs Winnipeg Jets

Game 1 - WIN 4 @ SEA 0
Game 2 - WIN 4 @ SEA 3 OTL
Game 3 - SEA 5 @ WIN 0
Game 4 - SEA 1 @ WIN 2
Game 5 - WIN 5 @ SEA 6
Game 6 - SEA 0 @ WIN 2

Eliminated in the 2nd round again! Not good enough, 2 seasons finishing the regular season near the top and can't even get to the conference finals. Unfortunately it is nearly the twilight of my first lines players careers, and my salary cap is bulging meaning there might have to be some players let go. Sad state of affairs at Seattle indeed.

Stanley Cup winner for season 2020/21
- New York Islanders

Calder Cup winner - Utica Comets

Seattle Player Awards -
Joonas Korpisalo & Malcolm Subban won the William M Jennings Trophy!
Well done Gents.

Maybe hopefully Season 2021/22 will be our year.

Draft & re-sign phase coming up later.
