NOT. AT. ALL.

It would be much harder.

As Philly explained, the sliders were originally supposed to be red and blue so the transition likely wasnt that hard.

I cant even imagine the work it would take from an online infrastructure/backend perspective. Its absolutely possible (other games do it) but its definitely not easy.

Re: Now that you have seen 99% of the game, yay or nay?

I've asked before and Philly has tried to answer but I still don't quite get it — how would those online sliders work?

From what I remember he said the two players download them but the way I see it, different sliders should be applied to different fighters for optimal experience. This will require players to agree that the other player's slider settings are in fact realistic, etc.

So how does it really work and what limitations are there in the games where it does work? Which games are those, by the way?

Nba 2k uses them and I’ve used them for years.

It’d pretty much only be for invites not general online quick fights. Both players can see the sliders as well. Best way I could see it implemented would be a lobby where the host gets to set the sliders but the other player can also see them.

You’d still have access to red vs blue as well.

This is easily at the top of my wishlist and would add a lot of longevity for the game.

You’d be surprised at how many people run their own cards and watch the AI fight.
I totally get that people sim fights with the CPU. But I doubt that a lot of them were clamoring for the ability to do so with different sliders for each corner. It just seems like a pretty random thing to add, but if they added it then the data must have supported doing so.

Hmm, fair enough. It can’t be THAT intensive, though, surely? Otherwise, would other games do it? I dunno, I’m not a developer so I don’t know, I’m just guessing. Just seemed like it would be easier to add the values of the slider modifications onto the game parameters that exist online instead of creating a new slider set for offline play.

What could realistically go wrong, technically, with adding sliders to online, does Skynet know/GPD know? I know you have to make sure they actually work in a live online environment and so they don’t break the game, I’m just not sure what might go wrong in such a scenario.

Thanks for the repeated explanation.

Well... sounds nice on paper but it being only for invites limits its potential. You either have to have a friend who plays the game or know people who'd like to play with you with sliders. You could find such people but it would still have to be coordinated as you'll have to both be available at the same time, etc. It's not a toggle in Quick Fight where you click it and get matched in a few seconds.

So while it does sound like a cool idea that is better to be present than not, it doesn't sound like it would improve the general feel of the game all that much, if that makes sense. It's way too niche for an already niche game, it doesn't operate on a really large scale. If I correctly understand how it works, of course.

Well it wouldn't make much sense for quick fight. People would just use it to give themselves an advantage.

Where I could see it helping are things like online leagues and tournaments.

That's the beauty of these forums and what always separated this Dev team from others. I was able to give direct feedback to Skynet and he implemented it(Now I don't know if the "data" also supported adding it but I remember bringing it to Skynet's attention on here). It didn't sound like it was too much trouble and it made sense to him.

Sure, I guess, I hope it gets added for your guys' sake (those who play ESFL and tournaments). It's still a nice feature to have but yeah, like I said, it's pretty small scale so I can't really say I'm that excited about it, unless there are some benefits that it offers that I'm not (fully) taking into account.
