Re: More PES 2009 Info

I'm looking forward to both games this year again, and i've already pre-ordered both.

I still prefer PES in a number of gameplay areas such as long range shooting, passing (i feel i have more control over where i want to pass, but i agree the speed of the ball is too fast), defense (fouls are actually called!), all types of set pieces, strategy (both in terms of types of strategies you can run, and the controls for activating them) and aerial play. FIFA wins when it comes to realistic game speed and skill movess for sure...but thats about it IMO.

I prefer PES in a few non-gameplay areas too like game presentation (when will FIFA finally get rid of their stupid substitution cut scene!?!) and menu navigation...the menus in PES 08 may not look 'professional' but there's practically no loading times and its so quick to navigate everywhere, whereas in FIFA for example, when editing players or manually updating rosters, then saving and then you want to edit another player, it always backs out to the main menu and when you re-enter it reverts to your favourite team...very annoying and unnecessary. Of course FIFA wins in online play and even though i have many gripes with Manager Mode, its still crapped all over last season's 'new' Master League.

In the end, i still prefer PES for solo play, but prefer FIFA for online play.

Yeah, I spent over 100 hours editing classic players into MVP 2005 because I hate EA.

PES 2008 lacked many things, to say the least, and on the pitch it was sub par when compared to past efforts, but it still plays better than FIFA 08... If you think otherwise you're only fooling yourself.

The fact that PES 2009 is coming back with the same lousy Master League and basically the same...well...EVERYTHING ELSE...why the hell should anybody pay for that?

It was cute at first because it was "our" game and we put up with it because the gameplay was kick-***. But now, another year of this crap and the gameplay is on a couple bottles of speed. Nah uh. No more.

You're delusional...

Agenda??? The truth is no agenda.

My game? I couldn't give two f***s about PES. If PES 2009 somehow manages to pull it together in such a short time, then that'd be great. If FIFA 09 actually plays like real soccer this time around, that'd be great too. I honestly don't see either of these things happening, and will likely wait for next year's efforts.

And for the last time, my issues with EA are for their clear attempts to pull the wool over people's eyes. If you can't see what I'm talking about, then there's really nothing I can do for you. This isn't even a problem exclusive to EA either... I could site many examples across the board... From the recent EA football reviews at 1up... To the firing of the reviewer at Gamespot a while back (Jeff Gertsmann??? I forget his name)... To Hideo Kojima's request that the long cutscenes in MGS4 not be mentioned in any reviews...

But by my estimation, and to anyone who spends even the most paltry effort examining these things, EA stands out as the worst perpetrators in the industry.

But yeah, I guess it's easier to just ignore it.

Here's your problem, kiddo. You're focusing on something that has nothing to do with pretty much anything. It's not like someone came in here and said "FIFA RuLeZ AlLZ!!! EaT iT!!!". You went off when someone pointed out factual gripes with PES 2008 and it got your panties in a bunch.

We get your agenda. It's clear as day and it's fine that you have it. But you now need to ease up with it because you are trying too hard to cover up your backpedaling with whatever the hell you are spewing and frankly, I have idea where you are heading.

This thread isn't about YOU and how YOU feel. Everyone has a right to their opinion and they do not need YOU coming from behind each post, calling these people naive, brainwashed or insane because of how they feel about PES and FIFA.

Nope. See post #19, where I responded to this myth that FIFA is "finally pushing PES". Yes, the two games might appear closer than ever, but that really has very little to do with FIFA actually improving. They've made some minor adjustments, sure, but the gap closing has more to do with PES publishing less than stellar efforts... Along with the EA marketing team planting the seed a few years ago that FIFA was "catching up".

Go back and read just about any review for FIFA starting with 06... You'll see just about every one mentioning how FIFA is "catching up". Where do you think they come up with this? Do you honestly think that these review sites are autonomous? Come on now.

"We get your agenda. It's clear as day and it's fine that you have it. But you now need to ease up with it because you are trying too hard to cover up your backpedaling with whatever the hell you are spewing and frankly, I have idea where you are heading."

You see, the word agenda implies that there is something underlying about what I'm doing. Not the case at all... In fact it's the very opposite. I'm trying to bring light upon something that, on a certain level, is profoundly disturbing.

If you carefully reread everything I've posted in this thread you'll find no backpedaling. I've been entirely honest, and a bit of smack talking aside, I've also done my best to be truthful. If this is too much for you to comprehend, I'll guess you'll just have to continue seeing it all as divided into "sides".

"This thread isn't about YOU and how YOU feel. Everyone has a right to their opinion and they do not need YOU coming from behind each post, calling these people naive, brainwashed or insane because of how they feel about PES and FIFA."

Making people think about how and why they perceive the world the way they do is never a bad thing, especially when it's backed by an appeal to be true.

You're talking so much bull****, it's not even worth responding to.

We're giving opinions on video games. Not talking about psychology and the ancient art of subliminal messages. Go take your nutty pills, will ya.

Stubbornness combined with an inability to look beyond one's self is hardly a way to go through life.

I've even stopped dissing you and you're still frustrated. I guess it's just best to leave it alone.

Best thing either one of you has said so far. Time to agree to disagree.
