Yesterday I downloaded a f2p game it's not very good. I didn't spend $70, didn't "pre-order" it for $40. In a week a month, a years time I can try it again for free without spending anything but my time. The fact that I can try this or any game for free is a positive in my book. If you would have rather spent $70 that's fine, but I'm glad I didn't spend any money and glad I can continue to try the game and its future updates with no monetary loss on my end. So yes I think it being free is a positive.
Free to play what,a friendly, have to pay extra to play master league. And besides that it looks and plays terrible.

One of the modders over at evoweb has been looking at some of the source files for eFootball. He says it’s basically a port from the mobile version since he can see so much of the same code migrated over.

Raise your hand if you are genuinely surprised. I think I remember them denying it, but how do you make a game playable on mobile (with crossplay, etc,) without developing it on mobile first? It just makes sense to start from there. Really kind of kills the excitement for next-gen.

I believe Fortnite was first developed for non-mobile platforms, and released on mobile several years later and has crossplay. So it can be done (anything can really, it all just depends how its done).

It’s probably much easier to do cross-platform ports of UE-derived games when you have the engine developers sitting down the hall from you.

I don’t think any of this is surprising given the fact that during an interview in May 2021, Konami leadership stated their strategy was changing to focus on smartphone titles as this is “where the future of gaming lies” (https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/...main-platform/). The company has even starting porting assets from their digital media (video game) division to the gaming (gambling machines) division as shown in this video of MGS assets being repurposed for a new slots machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUz-rSjcrIQ. Of note, this is exactly what Sega did in 2015.

tldr; Konami is no longer focused on the home gaming market.

The only positive I could find is the easy achievement score. Took me 30 minutes to get 100%. But to show you how lazy Konami is, even the achievement art is all the same (the E euro sign for everything).
