Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

Ok guys, vanns.com had the samsung 51" 3d plasma 1080p with two free active glasses for 997, so I jumped on it. It will be here on wednesday. Anyone have any experiences with vanns or the 51" d550?

Is it the new d550? I've heard good things about Vanns in particular, but don't have direct dealing with them Im' going to look at the new d550 tomorrow to maybe pick it up . Very nice deal if they're throwing in the glasses. Would like to hop on that as well.

i just pulled the trigger on the 2 Panny 50 inch s30's earlier today. wont be delivered until monday the 2nd, since we starting to move in that day.

now, i just seen this Samsung he mentioned above prior to seeing his post..

Samsung 51" Class 1080p 600Hz 3D Plasma HDTV
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...51000P?prdNo=1

should i cancel my order and get 2 of these Samsungs instead, bc of the 3D? im not sure how much we would use that, but would be nice to have for the same price of the Pannys..

thoughts?

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

I have an LG 55" LED 3D, and I don't use the 3D hardly at all. HOWEVER... when we do have company over, and decide to watch a 3d movie, then it's pretty enjoyable. Watching the Harlem Globetrotters in 3D is pretty cool too, seeing the ball on a rope flying at your face, and popcorn, etc. But it's all subjective.

That is one reason I'll most likely be buying that tv tomorrow for the bedroom, because it's future proofing (at least for the time being).

Anyone know of any great promotions coming up?

Yes it is the new d550, just came out in March I think. Its price dropped this week from 1299 to 999. I could have got it from bb for 999 but vanns for 997 + free glasses and no tax + free delivery seemed like a no brainer. I was going to wait for abetter deal but thi is all i really wanted. I also went to bb to look at the tv earlier in the week so I have a pretty good idea of what im getting.

Ultimately, will depend on what features are most important to you. The Panny has internet apps and wifi vs. the Sammy's 3D. Panny is usually known as being the best at plasmas.

If you do get and plan to use 3D also consider you'll need:
The glasses ($100-200 each)
A 3D blu ray player
3D versions of blu rays

Tough call.

The next big tv sale will most likely be Memorial Day week/weekend.

lol.. did i talk to you on the phone last night and not my buddy? you guys said the same thing pretty much word for word lol..

we wouldn't use it much, esp at first since we would need all that stuff..

once we settle in, and everything in order, down the line i could always move that 50 from living room to the bed room and upgrade to 3d or whatever at that time. i think those s30's will be great for us now!!
