Most good LCD sets are 4ms or below on the panel. Anything in the 8-12 ms range is hardly noticeable unless you are one who can slow time in your head (sarcasm).

And a lot of LG/Sammy/Sony sets are 1-2ms now. You will not notice a thing.

The worst thing you can do, and I fell into it, is read those "hardcore" forums. They somehow notice stuff no normal human being can. And truthfully, it is just them hooking up things to a computer system with timestamps that your average Joe does not.

Negligible if any. Plasma phosphors can change almost instantly.

CCFLs in traditional LCDs aren't nearly as fast.

$1200 w/ free shipping and no taxes is not bad for a 58" 1080p Samsung Plasma: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN58C5...=operasport-20

LED is still a LCD, only difference is the light source. LED HDTVs use LEDs which are smaller and more energy efficient. That's why LEDs are much thinner. LEDs can also be turned on/off quickly which helps the contrast and gives blacker blacks (almost plasma level)

LED HDTV come in 2 variety: fully array and edge lit. Full array has LEDs spread evenly behind the display vs. edge lit just has them along the perimeter. Full array is definitely preferred.

Traditional LCDs use CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent lamps).

Looks like the CCFL HDTVs are slowly being phased out and LEDs will be the standard.
