Saw Huntress/Kreator/Arch Enemy last night. Amazing show, but my moshing was ended early in the Arch Enemy set. Got pushed into another guy and we smacked heads.

Re: What concerts have you been to lately?

Have been meaning to post here...Worked out that I spent $2200 (AUD) this year on gigs! Watched 30 rappers/singers/bands live across 16 concerts/festivals.

Here's a full list of my 2014 gig history in chronological order (festivals in brackets):

1) Talib Kweli / Dead Prez / L-Fresh The Lion
2) Earl Sweatshirt / Haim / Danny Brown / Run The Jewels (Laneway)
3) Eminem / Kendrick Lamar / J. Cole / Action Bronson / 360 (Rapture)
4) Jurassic 5
5) Ellie Goulding
6) OutKast / Interpol / Kelis (Splendour in the Grass - Friday only)
7) Childish Gambino
8) Foster The People
9) Queen + Adam Lambert
10) Kanye West / Pusha-T
11) Common / Aloe Blacc (SoulFest)
12) Kimbra
13) The Pharcyde
14) Katy Perry
15) De La Soul
16) Ghostface Killah / Pharoahe Monch

Top 5 in order would probably be Eminem / Kanye / Katy Perry / Queen / OutKast. Definitely prefer the big gigs and not afraid to admit I love the occasional pop star too!

Kicking 2015 off on New Year's Day itself with another festival and already have tickets to about 5 other concerts in the first half of 2015 including Nelly / Lupe Fiasco / B.o.B (a triple bill), Drake and Alt-J.

Ouch that's gotta hurt...I actually sprained my ankle during the Earl Sweatshirt "death circles". Didn't really feel it until the next morning though

What concerts have you been to lately?

Went to the Neon Trees concert last night in Dallas. One of the opening bands, Yes You Are, were really good.

Re: What concerts have you been to lately?

Saw Atlas Genius and Passion Pit last night. I've been listening to Passion Pit for 5 years now and have supported them since Chunk Of Change, but I honestly was not expecting a show that great. Angelakos sings in a falsetto for a lot of his songs and I know synthpop bands don't really lend themselves to great shows, but

hooooooooooollly ****

They were on pace to play 75% of their discography in 2 hours flat. He just powered through songs. There were no breaks, every song played into another. And he played a great spread across all three albums. Two of my three favorite Passion Pit songs were played (I'll Be Alright, Cry Like A Ghost, and Eyes As Candles was left out, but for understandable reasons). Extremely high energy.

Re: What concerts have you been to lately?

I went to Billy Joel in SF last weekend. It was his first time here in 40 years.

The only two songs he didn't play that I wish he did were For the Longest Time and Only the Good Die Young. Piano Man live was just frickin' magical, especially as he let all of AT&T Park chorally sing it out near the end.

Re: What concerts have you been to lately?

Saw Motley Crue & Alice Cooper about a month ago now, on Crue's farewell tour. The show was pretty good, Alice Cooper was definitely the better act of the two though.

Then, in a couple weeks I'm going to see Hollywood Undead.

Re: What concerts have you been to lately?

I took my wife to the Carrie Underwood concert here in Houston on Monday. It was actually pretty good. I'm not the biggest fan of country anymore but I recognized more songs than I thought I would.
