Looks like there will be a football game next year

Not a confirmation or anything, but I found this on the IGN Boards. This was posted by a Ubisoft rep.

I've spoken with some people at 2K Sports regarding their football strategy and they've got some cool ideas. They obviously have a great football engine so it would behoove them to continue to develop games. Not having and NFL licesnse sux - but they have an idea that, I think, will work. I think people will go - What the? follwed by a "that's kinda cool".

Awesome news. If it's fun and or realistic i'll buy it. I'm dying to find out what they have up their sleeves.

Like I said. Ubisoft is entering the market as they purchased the technology and code to the MS first party titles including FEVER. If they are entering sports gaming and planning on developing a football game, someone out there thinks that there is a market or niche market that can be had outside of EA's NFL game. Whether or not these games will be a success remains to be seen, but you can't fault them for trying IF they do try.

This is great news (if it is accurate of course). As long as it was still 2k5, with the online league support, I would certainly give it a go.

If the non-NFL games are released at $19.99 or below, I wonder what EA will do with Madden. Will it still be $49.99 (or higher). That ought to be interesting.

Whether this is true or not is really not needed to dismiss BigTim's perspective. What is sad is that he is foolish enough to think a successful company such as Take Two, with a critically acclaimed development team in VC, would automatically tuck their tails since EA obtained the NFL license. He obviously hasn't been in the workforce long enough or educated himself well enough to understand why Take Two would want to, and still can, make a Football game w/o the NFL license. But he's pobably some where still baffled that McDonalds, WalMart & NIKE are not the only three companies left in America since somehow their competitors have still found a market share!

Anyway...I'm pleased about the optimistic news. Hope it has some credability
