Anti-Madden reaches the media

Here's the link, there's plenty of comments against it too! Just thought I'd share...

Re: Anti-Madden reaches the media

I wonder how quickly this'll be locked, much like the Dallas Morning News article in the madden thread.

Anyway he made some salient points that many have been saying here.

Hes also right about Dark Knight (aka Batman in the windy city), overly long, overly rated.

Meh, it's just a negative review, something all games get. Plus, his arguments seemed off to me, he was complaining about the gameplay trying to be more in depth. Basically, it sounds like someone who wants a game for a simpleton, and a game that takes hardly any thinking. He said there are too many plays, that should tell you something right there, because he most likely only wants to run 4-5.

Re: Anti-Madden reaches the media

A scathing critique it certainly was not as he's obviously a casual sports gamer, but I found it to contain a least a little bit of vindication, as it becomes quite obvious that you as an individual gamer are not alone in saying "Madden sucks". That, at least, the tide of public opinion is turning on EA a little bit more here and there and perhaps this spells some form of future hope for the return of the 2k franchise? Not to sound desperate....

As long as that piece of horse crap sells 5 million copies, EA and major media outlets are going to turn a def ear to all of our valid complaints and concerns.

If people would stop buying it, they would finally put in the effort and release a good game.

Exactly. The name 'Madden' has become nothing more than a brand name, thats almost reached the highest possibly level. EA could honestly release virtually the same game two years in a row, only updating the rosters, and people would still buy it in droves, because it's Madden. The majority of gamers want nothing to do with updating rosters or downloading rosters. Their mindset is that playing an older game is ridiculous, so they think they have no choice but to buy something new.

You really could get into the psyche of the gamer/consumer, and how EA has them completely brainwashed, but I'm no capitalist expert, and really, Madden is not worth the time.

If Kanye is the McDonald's of rap, the Madden is the McDonald's of video games.
