Re: espn nfl 2k4 or espn nfl 2k5

well thanks dann ... lol that was a long write up but it did do me well but one thing after reading all that ... i HATED the play calling menu in 2k3 and the only thing that was good about it is that it made me pick the plays ... i like just let the coach pick the play in 2k5 because i like to make adjustments at the line of scrimige .... ALL THE TIME ... so that being said i will just stick with 2k5 ... which is what i was going to do anyways BUT i just wanted to see what you guys thought about it .

There's actually a "coach pick the play" in 2K3 but its not listed as such. It's basically the CPU selecting a random play for you to run (just like 2K5 but without the fancy name) and can be done just by pressing the X button. You leave the circle cursor in the middle of the screen and just press X. A random play will be selected for you. Repeat the process if you dont like the play that was selected for you.

This reminds me of something else too - I hate in 2K5 that if you selected a quads formation play, you can only audible using plays from the same formation. For example, you cant go from quads to pro set and that annoys the hell out of me.

But back to 2K's original and far superior play-calling. I love it and when you first play 2K (or for me 2K1 on DreamCast), its just awesome because I can actually see the full play and the routes of all the receivers. Those small boxes are ******* horrible as in a good amount of plays, you have to assume where your receiver is going instead of actually knowing where he's going and thats not a good thing.

I was pissed when VC changed the play-calling in 2K4 from what it was - unique, original and innovative compared to what it is now, old, small, stupid, obsolete boxes. Seriously, what is that crap??? I know VC changed it for two reasons. First being to try to lure Madden fans over to 2K and the second being so the camera rotates and you can see the field and get more of a visual presence.

Me personally could care less about the visual presence as the game looks great as it is. I dont need an extra visual display especially when it eliminated a major positive and trademark of the series and second, if I wanted to select plays in old small stupid obsolete boxes, I would play the game thats obsolete but no one has realized it yet, Crapadden.

In general, if I personally was to take all the positives from 2K3, 2K5 and add in so much more thats in my head, we all would have the perfect playing football game of all-time. Hell, find a negative and your copy is free. Hahahahahaha.

I'm thinking of giving 2k4 a shot. Can you edit the rookie draft class like in 2k5? I love the fact that each position has about 20-30 prospects that I can edit. Thank you.

^^^ Yes, you can edit the Draft Class but only until you reach the re-naming limit.

I don't understand why there aren't more game editors. Is it because 2k5 was easier than other games to create an editor or because more people haven't tried with other games?

I would assume that popularity of the game has something to do with it. I'm sure the game save files are similar for both games, so it wouldn't be too hard to port the existing editor over to 2k4. But that'd be a question for Flyingfynn
