what should a \"convert\" expect from this game?

hey all,
I've been a Madden PC gamer for 4-5 years now and just today bought an X-Box and also preordered ESPN at my local EB. I have not played a 2K game since the dreamcast days and am wondering what kinda of really big things I'm in store for. Not just for a PC to console shift (can't wait to finally play a smooth sports game w.o slowdown!), but for a madden to ESPN shift too. I've heard so many good things about it and I'm very excited about it. thank you

Don't expect:

- To be able to throw into triple coverage and get a completion.
- To drop back 20 yards, and... well, that's it.
- To find a cheesy play in your playbook that will work 95% of the time.
- To get used to the game right away (it takes time to convert).
- To dislike the presentation that you do not see. Many Madden players skip each and every cutscene, and when they play ESPN, they forget about all of the nice cutscenes, presentation overlays, and highlight footage that this game includes.
- That this game is anything similar to Madden. Pretend that you're stupid and haven't played a football game before. There are many other innovative features that this game has that Madden doesn't.

Definitely play ESPN with an open mind. Try to enjoy the experience, don't look for reasons to hate it because it's not anything like Madden.

Re: what should a \"convert\" expect from this game?

oh, by no means do I hate this game at all. I loved it on dreamcast, but haven't been able to play it since it left that console. Esp. as a PC gamer, I have been kept in the closet on much of the great games and competition the past few years. I will definitely play with an open mind too. I am just tickled pink because I have become so fed up with EA's lackluster efforts at trying to make madden more realistic b/c they don't wanna rock the boat of arcadish play. from what I've heard on previews this game is like night and day compared to madden and I'm happy about that.

Do players still talk smack like back in da day?
Can I actually miss a reciever completely with an overthrow?
Did I just pay 20 bones for the preorder?!!!!! lol, I mean wow, that just beautiful!
what kind of things can you do in the offseason of franchise?
TELL ME MORE!!!! I yern for info! thank you

The Franchise mode is where this game is really lacking so dont expect the depth you get from madden 04 and especially madden 05

Good answers to Blazers. Also th blocking and tackling animations own Madden. You wont want to waste 50 bucks on Madden.

Oh and yes there are bad passes, and yes the players still run smack.

ya im a convert, i had both madden and espn last year but ended up trading espn back. madden just looks too "stale" for my taste this year. espn has DEFINITELY cleaned up its motion and movements and animations this year. I CANT WAIT TILL THE 21st!!!!!!
