Re: CPU Running 2k5 not good enough?

as an almost exclusive against-AI player, i too was worried about all the clamoring from online-players about toning down the so-called 'super back problem'.

on custom sliders equal or more difficult than all-pro, i didn't find stopping the run a problem. yes, i did get burned but there are always several big games by rb's in the pros every week. i found it realistic with regards to stats (if maybe not how the stats were generated...yes, broken tackles were too prevelant).

one of the pix that steve posted shows the leading rusher for the season. the pic shows that the longest run by that rb was in the high-30's i believe. that's not realistic.

now, before i get blasted, i know that there are sliders and, believe me, i'm guying to buy and play the heck out of this game regardless. just wanted to add my 2 cents and let all the 'yea, super-back is fixed' guys out there know that some of us liked the running game just like it was.

I can understand this point of view, but the issue is how can both sets of gamers be happy? It is easier to have the running fixed out of the box for online players since in ranked games sliders cannot be used, and to allow offline players to use the sliders to tweak the game where they think it needs to be tweaked. You might not think the 30 yds as the longest run is realistic, and I do agree there are longer runs than that. There will most likely be longer ones in the game than that, but the yds per carry are the most realistic since 2k2. Give a little, take a little, everybody happy. I do not agree however with your overall conclusion. The running game last year was soo superior to everything else in the game, the game itself was not balanced. Defense was LAZY and that's what needed to raise its head and I'm glad they did that.

I can see both points , but i completely agree with LBz on this one .****nning game was rediculous last year . I would rather have it much harder than the same .

I can only assume he started on All-Pro as he is familiar with the series but I don't really know. I usually play with the Dolphins or Giants and rarely faced Ricky on 2K4 when controlled by the CPU. Strangely, I found the Eagles to be one team that gave me trouble in my Giants franchise sometimes cause they ran it so much. I actually played more with the Giants as I felt it was too easy with the Dolphins defensively.

Yeah I was able to stop Williams but the Dolphins D was tough on the road. Also Steve said he had it on AllPro 7minn qters and the CPU could not run well. I liked run D vs the CPU last year. My problem was that Eddie George ran too well for me and that made the game too easy. I did lose games on All-Pro though but a fixed running game would add more challenge unless the CPU cant run a lick and thats what it seems like so far. I hope the D is better then you can play on 8 or 9minn qters and that would help the running game too.
