Re: Pittsburgh Steelers (Madden 12)

Pittsburgh Steelers Press Conference:

Two days after superbowl (the god damn Ravens won...argh), the Steelers held a post season press conference to explain what went wrong this season and try to convince the fans that they will take the needed action to turn things around for next season.

It was not secret for nobody. "Our offense needs to do a better job and score more points. It's as simple as that." said the Steelers GM. The team finished near the last place in a lot of offensive categories and that definitely explains the 7-9 record and the playoffs miss. Ben Roethlisberger had a rough season throwing a league leading 33 interceptions. "We had an healthy team and a good team all season long. We were suppose to make the post season but eh, some things went wrong and we can't change nothing from past. We'll do better next season." concluded the Steelers GM.

The Steelers general manager clearly mentioned that we should expect a lot of changes during the offseason since a lot of players are out of contract. He mentionned that fans should not be worried about seing guys like Mike Wallace or Troy Polamalu become UFA. "Like I told you, we already have a good team on paper, we just need to fix a couple things out and we will be good to go. We aren't desperate so there's no need to panic and go crazy."

The Steelers expectations for next season is of course to make the playoffs. "It's obvious we will still be battling for a playoffs spot next year. The AFC is a tight conference with a lot of good teams but we are among them. I definitely think we can make the playoffs next year." said head coach Mike Tomlin.

The Steelers have some work to do in the upcoming weeks, they have to make a decision on these following players, either resign them or release them:

T.Polamalu
L.Timmons
M.Wallace
A.Smith
D.Sepulveda
C.Hoke

Re: Pittsburgh Steelers (Madden 12)

Draft Review:

FS - Harrison Smith

He’s a guy that seems like he’s been a part of the Irish football program forever. And for most of that time, Harrison Smith seemed to be in the doghouse.

But before all the Irish angst, Smith was a blue-chip prospect. With offers from schools like Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama, Smith wasn’t the kind of safety Notre Dame usually lands. At six-foot-two, 200-pounds, he had elite size. More impressively, he was a veritable speed merchant. At a Nike recruiting camp in 2006, Smith ran a 4.38 forty-yard dash, beating everybody but Eric Berry, who turned into an All-American at Tennessee before going fifth overall in last year’s NFL Draft.

Five years later, Smith is finally ready to play at that same level. Better late than never. Steelers will probably have him a starter so he better be ready to step up. Having Polamalu with him will probably help him alot.

Harrison Smith highlights

DT - Marcus Forston

Forston was considered one of the best defensive tackles coming out of high school in 2008, and has been compared to Warren Sapp. He has also been called "maybe the best nose tackle prospect in the past five years" by Rivals.com.

Marcus Forston highlights

QB - Case Keenum

We know all about the gaudy numbers that Houston QB Case Keenum has put up during his career, as production has never been his problem. He’s a solid athlete for the position who can buy time outside the pocket, throws well on the move and is accurate underneath with a quick delivery of the football. Now, there is definitely going to be a major learning curve for him at the next level, like any quarterback coming from a spread. As he too often reads one side of the field only and I rarely see him moving his eyes in order to look off defenders and/or find secondary options.

Case Keenum scramble

MLB - Garrick Williams

Garrick Williams, Texas A&M, has been selected one of 51 linebackers named to the 2011 Butkus Award Preseason Watch List for the 2011 college football season. The award is handed out annually to the top linebacker in college football. Williams developed into one of the Aggies' most consistent defenders in 2010 and finished second on the team with 112 tackles, including five for loss and one fumble recovery. Starting at inside linebacker, Williams earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors as the Aggies jumped in the national rankings from No. 105 in total defense in 2009 to No. 55 last season.

CB - Quentin Washington

You'd never know it, but three of his lower front teeth were knocked in during last year's game at Miami, when Washington was blocking on a punt and tripped, then another player stumbled and put his hand through his facemask. Washington pushed the teeth back forward with his tongue, got a new mouthpiece and got back in the game on the next series. His fourth-quarter deflection in the end zone forced Miami to settle for a field goal, keeping USF within a touchdown in a game where the Bulls rallied with two minutes left, then won in overtime.

He's a warrior. A long shot warrior thought...

WR - Tyron Carrier

"Carrier's the speed guy, the guy who competes in track and seems to have that special gear he can kick into when it appears that a defender is closing on him. And it's Carrier who, more often than not, serves as the spark plug that gets the team going." said head coach of the Houston University.

In 2010, Carrier set the school record by returning four kickoffs for a touchdown, and he owns the school's career record with five return TDs. It's easy to credit Carrier for the scores, and for averaging 29.0 yards per return. It's easy, but it's not accurate. Especially if you ask Carrier.

Carrier and Keenum ?!?

LE - Adewale Ojomo

Don't expect too much of that guy but he could be a surprise.
