Re: Run This Town - Baltimore Ravens Dynasty (M13)

Great Team Performance Leads to 10 Point Win in Houston

Coming into this game, the Texans and the Ravens were #3 and #4 in the Power Rankings, respectively. It was a good, clean, hard fought football game that was very enjoyable to watch.

They drove the ball back and forth in that first quarter. The first 15 minutes had a little bit of everything. Dropped interceptions, 4th down conversion attempts, and more. What it didn't have, however, was points. An entirely scoreless first quarter. Great defensive showings by both teams.

After a Baltimore field goal early in the 2nd, both teams took the training wheels off and started to open up their offense. A play-action pass by Baltimore fooled the defense and Flacco found Ed Dickson with room to run, and he took it to the house. A 64 yard play that padded the Ravens' lead. A few plays later, the Texans would strike right back. Plaxico Burress got behind the secondary, and Matt Schaub let one fly. A 68 yard pitch and catch brought the Texans right back within three.

13 straight unanswered points by the Ravens would prove to be too much for Houston to overcome, despite a great looking scoring drive late in the 4th and an onside kick recovery.

The play of the game for Baltimore was a perfect 22 yard pass from Flacco to Torrey Smith in the 4th quarter. It was another play-action fake and the cornerback covering Smith took the bait without thinking twice. Smith was all by himself, and Flacco laid in a beautiful touch pass over the shoulder for the touchdown.

On an extra note here, Ravens CB Lardarius Webb did an excellent job keeping all-star WR Andre Johnson out of this game, holding him to just 3 catches for 41 yards.

Next week, the Ravens get some time to collect themselves, have some good practices and really get prepared mentally because the rest of the season is going to be tough. Two games against the Steelers, a game on the road against San Diego, both Manning brothers, and Heisman winner RGIII all lie in wait for this Baltimore team. They'll have to come out tough against Cleveland and Oakland, and then it will really be time to make a push for the post season.

Re: Run This Town - Baltimore Ravens Dynasty (M13)

Ravens Sweep the Browns With a 16 Point Road Win

Though it was almost a "tale of two halves" kind of game, the Ravens still won this game by 16 and completed the sweep of the 2012 Cleveland Browns.

Flacco and the offense got out of the gate fast. Early in Baltimore's first drive, Ray Rice broke a run for a 50+ yard gain that got inside the 5 yard line. They had to settle for a field goal on that first drive, however. Flacco threw for 3 touchdowns in the first half, to 3 different receivers. He was really locked in and on point in the first 30 minutes.

The defense looked just as good as the offense in the first half, allowing nothing but field goals and forcing two turnovers. The front seven of the Ravens' defense looked pretty good all game. They sacked Weeden a total of 4 times and held Trent Richardson to 79 yards on the ground.

In the second half, however, the offense hit the skids and couldn't get much of anything to work for them. They didn't lead a good, sustained drive until the 4th quarter drive that lead to a TD by Ray Rice. Cleveland really dominated the time of possession in this one.

Thankfully, there were no severe injuries in this game.

Next week, we're back to M&T Bank Stadium as the Ravens host the Oakland Raiders!

Re: Run This Town - Baltimore Ravens Dynasty (M13)

Ravens Handle the Raiders, Improve Winning Streak to 7

What a turn-around it has been for this year's Ravens team. After starting the season 0-2, they have gone on an incredible 7 game winning streak.

The visiting Oakland Raiders played with heart and had some great plays and great looking offensive possessions, but they just weren't able to handle the Ravens on this day. Baltimore made throwing for 300+ yards and rushing for 100+ look routine in this game. Oakland probably got the feeling they were in for a long day when just five plays into the game, Torrey Smith broke a tackle and scored a 69 yard touchdown. Despite allowing Oakland a total of 6 sacks on Joe Flacco, the offense looked perfect.

The defense also played spectacularly, stuffing nearly every play for short gains and only allowing 13 points. This is the way the defense needs to play the rest of this season. Especially with what's coming up next week...
