Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)

ROAD GAME AT BATON ROUGE IS TOO MUCH
La Salle fails to solve LSU’s runners, loses 17-47

Oct. 27, Baton Rouge LA – La Salle allowed LSU 457-yard rushing offense and when that usually happens passing would never been a problem. The Explorers defense found that out. Zach Mettenberger found James Wright 3 times for 3 touchdowns and with the Tigers running backs running circles around La Salle’s defensive line, it was no doubt La Salle would not recreate the same magic when they upset Georgia Tech. The LSU Tigers routed the Explorers, 47-17.

James Wright outsprinting the La Salle secondary for his 2nd of 3 touchdown receptions.

Mettenberger only passed 19 times for 160 yards but was still good for 3 touchdowns. Spencer Ware ran for 215 yards in 27 carries, Alfred Blue for 117 yards and Michael Ford with 60 yards including 2 rushes to the end zone. La Salle's Jesse Parks finished with 262 yards passing including a long 75-yarder to John Singletary, who had 105 yards, for a touchdown.

La Salle resumes its MAC campaign with another road game against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on November 3, a must-win game both teams.

Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)

LA SALLE SURVIVES A THRILLING 23-20 GAME OVER EASTERN MICHIGAN
Andre Howard was the last man standing

Nov 3, Ypsilanti MIAndre Howard came off the bench for Jesse Parks and once again he did not disappoint. The freshman quarterback from Belleville NJ led a 4th quarter comeback with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Steven Harrison to put La Salle into the lead then after Eastern Michigan reclaimed the upper hand, Howard found Albert Hampton streaking for a 61-yarder to put the Explorers back on top for good to win 23-20.

Howard finished with 242 yards passing with 2 touchdowns outplaying counterpart Alex Gillett. The battle between Draymond West and Dominique Sherrer was as hot as expected with Sherrer with the latter on top with 122 yards against West’s 99 besides drawing first blood with a short 5 yard run to the end zone on the 2nd quarter. The Eagles starring Sherrer and Javonti Greene had a total of 267 yards rushing.

Howard gets excellent pass defense with this pass to Hampton for the win.

But it was a war to the end as both defense exhaust themselves to the limit with Howard, who came in for Parks late in the 2nd quarter, was the last man standing. Parks came down hard in a scramble in front of the goal line and hurt his elbow. The Eagles battle cry was simple, “Keep the ball on the ground” and for 3 quarters the Explores offense stood flat until Howard found his bearings.

The La Salle Explorers go back and play at the McCarthy Stadium against MAC heavyweight the Northern Illinois Huskies next week and team captain Richard Greer expects nothing but a capacity crowd.

Game Notes
For the Huskies to have only allowed 5 sacks after 10 games shows why Jordan Lynch is on top of the MAC leader board. Center Logan Pegram will lead NIU's pass protection. Defense has its share too for allowing only 15.1 points per game. From the looks of it Jesse Parks and Richard Greer got their work cut out and need the same Georgia Tech prayer and magic to win this one.

Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)

LA SALLE UPSETS NORTHERN ILLINOIS, 38-35
Cruz catches Parks’ desperate pass for the win

Nov. 10, Philadelphia PA - Brian Cruz ran forward and slanted awkwardly but just in time to catch Jesse Parks heave from 41 yards out then outsprinted Jimmie Ward to the end zone to give the La Salle Explorers another come-from-behind 38-35 victory and gain momentum in the MAC conference with only games against Central Michigan and Ball State remaining.

The Huskies were a little bit cocky from the start and seemed to be more unprepared than the Explorers, who were hoping another Georgia Tech miracle, and that told them as La Salle made 2 quick scores in the first 2 quarters while NIU’s offense was listless and cold.

Brian Cruz catches the long pass then outsprints Jimmie Ward for the deciding touchdown.

The Huskies woke up just in time with Jeff Lynch guiding Northern Illinois to the lead from 21-31 at the end of the 3rd quarter with long drives for 2 straight touchdown rushes, one each from Giorgio Bowers and Jamal Womble to grab the upper hand at 35-31 with 1:22 left. On the return play, Parks could not get a play going and opted for a short pass to Justin Nance then the senior quarterback scrambled twice for a 1st down but still unable to find an open Explorer. After a timeout and with 30 seconds on the clock, Parks found Cruz, a speedy sophomore from Ozark AL, outhustling a visibly exhausted Ward to the end zone.

Parks finished with 263 yards and 4 touchdowns. Lynch, the premier MAC quarterback, was 17 of 41 for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns but had a pass intercepted, a stunning 95-yard return touchdown by Raymond Donaldson. Womble outran Draymond West with 125 yards in only 15 carries with a touchdown.

La Salle remains at home for a November 15 mid-week meeting with the struggling Central Michigan Chippewas then travel to Muncie IN and play the Ball State Cardinals at the Scheumann Stadium for the season’s final game on November 24.

Ronald Donaldson's 95-yard returned interception stunned the Huskies offense.

Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)

LA SALLE DEMOLISHES CENTRAL MICHIGAN, 55-17
The Explorers become bowl eligible after the win

Nov. 15, Philadelphia PA – La Salle became bowl eligible after demolishing Central Michigan, 55-17, in a snowing cold night at the McCarthy Stadium. The Explorers virtually finished off the Chippewas before halftime leading at 35-3. The Chippewas were never on the game, this being their 12th and last game and you can tell early on that their minds were set on the coming basketball season.

You cannot let a good guy down, Ryan Radcliff playing his last college game threw 2 quick touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, one to sophomore tight end and future star Titus Davis. Andre Howard, who came in for Jesse Parks early in the 2nd quarter after Parks hurt his wrist while scrambling, replied with one of his own with a short pass to Steven Harrison. Parks, who was MAC’s best offensive player last week, had already 85 yards in 10 rushes before going down.

The Explorer defense has since regrouped and stamped their dominance and with less than a minute added insult to injury with a returned fumble touchdown by Nicholas Lyles after Kevin Banks took Radcliff down hard. Earlier Radcliff was sacked twice, once by Banks and by Andrew Barry, his 6th for the season, then was intercepted by Richard Greer. Draymond West rushed twice to the end zone and sat out the final quarter with 94 yards in 18 carries. The La Salle Explorers will play their season finale at the Scheumann Stadium against Keith Wenning and the Ball State Cardinals on November 24.

Jesse Parks blew the game wide open with a touchdown pass to Justin Nance in the closing minutes of the 1st quarter.
