Re: Clemson Tiger/ Green Bay Packer

Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Nothing like a big divisional matchup late in the season as the Packers got set to take on the Vikings. Rodgers took it upon himself to get the first point on the scoreboard when he scrambled in a 11yd TD. Minnesota followed Green Bay’s example and attacked on the ground. Toby Gerhart not Adrian Peterson put the Vikes on the board with a 25 yard rush up the middle. It appeared early on that Minnesota wouldn’t let itself get pushed around like last time. Early in the 2nd down 10-7 Ponder was intercepted by Green Bay CB Casey Heyward killing the Minnesota drive. Lacy followed up with a score of his own and by the half the Packers were wearing a 20-7 lead.

Just like their last game Minnesota came trying to claw itself back into the game. Their secondary was constantly batting balls and dislodging receivers from the ball. Packers didn’t make it very hard for them either especially when Finley fumbled after catching a first down. On the ensuing drive Ponder hit TE Rudolph on a post to cut it into a 3 point game 20-17. Rodgers who was held in check most of the game started to find a rhythm and got them a field goal. The defense forced two back to back punts which followed up into TD passes to Cobb and Nelson. The Packers offensive explosion in the 4th sealed a 37-17 win.

Re: Clemson Tiger/ Green Bay Packer

Green Bay Packers vs. Atlanta Falcons

Fresh off picking up a bitter loss against the subpar Lion the Packers were eager to host the Packers on Sunday Night Football. The Falcons however had no plans for rolling over for Green Bay. At 7-5 the Falcons are in the hunt for a wildcard spot and a victory over NFC leading Packers would be a real big help. The Packers were the first to put point on the board as Cobb punt return and goaline fade led to an early 7-0 lead. The Falcons needed playmaking and of all their receivers it was Harry Douglas that made all the plays on a drive he ended with a spectacular 31yd TD catch. The score was tied 7 apiece going into the 2nd quarter.

The 2nd quarter against the Falcons was a quarter Rodgers would probably rather forget. It started out with a intercepted by a FS T. Decoud. The Packers forced a punt but Rodgers would manage to turn the ball over once again a few plays later. This drive it seemed Gonzalez was the featured receiver and did his part on a drive that put the Falcons up 7. Packers were eager to strike back but a fumble on special teams put 3 more points on the scoreboard for Atlanta. Nelson managed to redeem himself for his previous fumble on the next drive however scoring a huge TD to bring them within 3. The Packers were confident that with the 58 seconds Nelson left on the clock they would go into the half only down a field goal……until the Falcons swooped down the field and put down another FG. The score at the half was narrow 20-14 lead for Atlanta

One of the big playmakers for the Packers this season has been Nick Perry and he made his impact known in the 3rd quarter stuffing two plays on consecutive downs to force a Falcons FG. On Atlanta’s next trip into the redzone Perry sacked Ryan to force yet another FG. Atlanta led 26-21 with under 3 minutes to go and the ball in the Packers hands. A touchdown was needed to get the win and Green Bay who had been bothered by turnovers all night constructed an impressive drive that got them all the way into the red zone. Rodgers hit an open Cobb who looked to make a move but fumbled the ball on the 5 yard line. Green Bay was destined to lose…….well until a booth review overruled the fumble. Lacy used the extra opportunity to score the TD with 13 seconds to go for the win. The Packers who lost the turnover margin 6 to 1 still managed to clip the Falcon postseason hopes.

Re: Clemson Tiger/ Green Bay Packer

Green Bay Packer vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

With the regular season winding down the Packers got set to play their last regular season home game in Lambeau Field. The Stadium has been home to numerous championships teams and fans were lined up to see their team one last time. The Steelers were at 5-9 were pretty much out of the playoff race and was looking forward to spoiling their homecoming. Pittsburgh came out on their first play with a wr reverse……that went 71 yards all the way to the 10! A forced pass however was picked off in the end zone and Lacy helped put together a nice drive down the field for the TD. Both defense played pretty stingy all afternoon. If they weren’t punting they were turning the ball over. Just before half Big Ben put together a drive and threw a screen that went the distance to cut into the lead 14-7.

In the 2nd half injury took out a lot of Green Bay Playmakers including RB Lacy and WR Cobb. The big playmaking was left into the hands of #87 Jordy Nelson and he delivered. It took a career high 163 yards but he managed to keep the team afloat when the Packers got into 3rd and long. His 3 TDs weren’t too bad either and late in the fourth the Packers had a 28-1 lead. Roethlisberger would threw a late TD and the Steelers managed to recover the onside kick. It seemed the Steelers weren’t out of it just yet. But of course Ben would throw yet another interception to seal the game for good 28-17.
