Game Notes
For Oklahoma State, this game will be nothing but a breeze. Sure, Lamar blasted a team for 75 unanswered points. Guess who that was against. If you guessed Oklahoma Panhandle State, you would have been correct. Against Louisiana Tech, they looked absolutely hopeless and were held to three points all game. Lamar will have to put up with one of the best offenses in college football. Something that UTSA, a better team, couldn't even hope to have done. This game will likely be a long one for Lamar who merely looks to leave Stillwater without too much humiliation.

Series Record: TIED 0-0
Prediction: Lamar 3 - Oklahoma State 51

Re: Proud and Immortal - Oklahoma State Dynasty [NCAA 14]

Despite Defensive Struggles, Oklahoma State Defeats Lamar

Josh Stewart looks to the sea of orange after snagging a pass from Clint Chelf for a touchdown.
STILLWATER, Oklahoma - For the first time all season, Oklahoma State found themselves losing. Thanks to some very poor defense, Lamar marched down the field and kicked a field goal to give them a surprising lead. Not wanting to be out done, Oklahoma State quickly moved down the field and scored a touchdown. They would never look back from that point. Though, there's reason to be concerned down in Stillwater. For the third consecutive game, the Cowboys have ultimately struggled to shut down a passing game. This one showcasing their biggest problem. A team like Lamar should not be moving the ball that well against their defense.

Lamar was never going to upset Oklahoma State. Everyone in the country understood that. Many were expecting a blowout. Yet, when those final seconds ticked away, the look of confusion on the Cowboys's faces was obvious. They expected to win by more than just four touchdowns. No, this was to be their biggest win. Better than the victories of Mississippi State and UTSA. Those two were true opponents. Lamar was not quite on their level, yet the powerful Oklahoma State offense seemed to take awhile to get going. The injuries to Jeremy Smith and J.W. Walsh likely attributing to the lack of offense. Interceptions were still being thrown against a lesser defense. Something that will certainly have to be fixed.

If there's a positive to be taken out of this game, it's that the pass rush and rushing defense seems to still be strong. There haven't been too many cracks shown yet. Caleb Berry was put on his back several times through the game. Kade Harrington was barely ever to able move passed the line of scrimmage. One has to think if Oklahoma State's pass defense does not get better, the better quarterbacks in the Big 12 will likely destroy them. With problems showing in the offense, Oklahoma State may not be a top ranked team for too much longer.

After their win against Lamar, Oklahoma State will have a bye week before their Big 12 opener against West Virginia. After their second consecutive loss, Lamar will head back home to take on Bacone College.

Caleb Berry dropped to the ground for yet another sack while his offensive line looks on.

Jeremy Smith dives across the end zone for his second touchdown on the day.

Broken Tailbone - 3 weeks

T Quinton Spain (84)
Torn Quad - 7 weeks
Game Notes
Dismiss the records of both teams. They mean absolutely nothing in this game. Oklahoma State is coming off a win where they looked vulnerable on defense all day. Lamar showed the weakness that could be exploited by any team: weak secondary play. West Virginia has been a very inconsistent team all year long. This Mountaineers squad is a team that lost to a good Oklahoma squad by just a touchdown and followed that up with a huge 30 point loss to an overachieving Maryland team. With a key injury to Karl Joseph, it may open up the passing lanes a bit more. Excellent defense line play has pushed Oklahoma State into one of the best rushing defenses in the nation. The injury to Quinton Spain may only heighten the play from the talent on the front for the Cowboys' defense. In the end, this game will either prove that Oklahoma State is on the right track or ultimately sink them.

Series Record: TIED at 2-2
Prediction: Oklahoma State 31 - West Virginia 24

Re: Proud and Immortal - Oklahoma State Dynasty [NCAA 14]

Seven Turnovers Doom Oklahoma State in West Virginia Upset

J.W. Walsh throws an interception with under thirty seconds left to kill Oklahoma State's chances.
MORGANTOWN, West Virginia - How does a team manage 561 yards of offense yet still manage to lose? By turning the ball over, of course! Oklahoma State found themselves dumbfounded and looking for answers after West Virginia managed to upset them. The offense certainly didn't struggle for yards nor did it have a tough time getting into the endzone. Eight separate trips were made. Only two of them actually resulting in score. Jeremy Smith, who's on the Heisman watch, managed to fumble the ball whilst diving for a touchdown. No one tackled him. No one touched him. The ball just fell out of his hand. Chelf, coming in for the oft-injured J.W. Walsh, threw a pick in the endzone. Had Oklahoma State actually scored on every trip, they would have won easily. Yet, they just could not do anything at all.

Did West Virginia truly outplay Oklahoma State? Maybe. Paul Millard certainly played better than J.W. Walsh. He was a more accurate passer, despite his three interceptions. While Walsh did throw more yards than him, that hardly matters when you can't actually reach your target. For the first time all season, Oklahoma State had to depend on their passing unit. Perhaps, that was a bad idea, as Smith was doing a good job at making his way up field and getting around defenders. Mike Gundy completely abandoned that when his team find themselves behind. No time could be wasted, that was for certain.

At this point, there seems to be nothing better than Oklahoma State's running defense. No one can get around them. That's one of the positive things that can be taken out of this game. Charles Sims was just another running back to fall to that superior four. Once again, though, the passing defense seemed unable to do anything at all. While they did pick the ball off three times, they were unable to stop them from marching up the field and scoring a touchdown. Though both parts of the defense played well late in the game, it was for nothing. Oklahoma State's offense would fail to do much of anything. No one knows who to blame for the loss, as both sides played very well.

"This is one of those games that'll eat at you all season long. We came into today thinking we had a shot at a national championship. Now, we're just going to have to recover somehow," Mike Gundy said after the game. Almost every player looked annoyed coming out of that locker room. Jeremy Smith seemed angry at himself. His fumble was a costly one, as it likely would have sparked the offense even more and likely helped his team win the game. He answered no questions nor did any of the other plays. Coach Gundy was there to listen to every question, but, towards the end, even he seems a bit agitated. It seemed that all they wanted to do was head back to Stillwater and forget about this game. Like the rest of the Cowboy nation.

After a shocking upset, Oklahoma State heads back to Stillwater to take on Kansas State who is led by potential Heisman John Hubert. West Virginia will stay home, as they take on a slumping Baylor squad.

Heisman hopeful Jeremy Smith fumbles the ball, as he attempts to dive for a touchdown.

Paul Millard throws for 314 yards to help team upset Oklahoma State.
