UCF continued its impressive season with a big win at home over Duke. The Knights are now 9-0, but face 2 more ranked opponents in the last 3 games.
Blake Bortles performed well once again against Duke, tossing for 219 yards and 3 TDs. Freshman William Stanback had his best game of the season, rushing for 141 yards on 15 attempts.
Aside from allowing one 86 yard rush the Knights looked pretty solid on defense (that single rush accounted for 25% of Duke's total yardage). UCF travels to Blacksburg, Virginia next week to take on the Hokies!

Knights New #1
After posting a win today the Knights will move to the #1 spot in the polls after Ohio State's loss.
The Knights got off to a good start, but Blake Bortles threw a pick in the red zone to end the first possession. The passing game never really got going today, with just 110 yards. Virginia Tech did a good job stopping the proficient UCF passing game. "They have a good secondary, as well as a good scheme. They did well in the passing game today," Coach O'Leary said after the game. However, UCF was able to put up over 200 yards on the ground, which helped the Knights to victory.
Defensively, the Knights gave up way too much yardage, but held strong on their half of the field. Virginia Tech was forced to settle for field goals 4 times, missing 2 of them. The turning point in the game came when the Hokies' QB Mark Leal was sacked and fumbled, Defensive Tackle Demetris Anderson scooped the ball up and took it back 37 yards for the score!

Breshad Perriman returned the ensuing kickoff 50 yards to the Tech 45, and just 3 plays later Storm Johnson found the endzone again to tie the ball game with just over 2:20 to play.
