Re: A New Owner.. Raiders become Diablos (XBone|M25)

Week 6

Player Performance Rankings
  • M. McGloin: 799 Passing Yards – 24th in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 414 Rushing Yards - 14th in NFL
  • N. Roach: 6 Sacks – 3rd in NFL
  • L. Houston: 4 Sacks – 13th in NFL

Team Performance Rankings
  • Raiders Offensive Rank: 7 - 1,966 Total Offensive Yards

    • Pass: 9th – 1,275 Total Passing Yards
    • Rush: 8th – 691 Total Rushing Yards

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 8 - 1,474 Total Yards Allowed

    • Pass: 16th – 1,057 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 5th – 417 Total Rushing Yards Allowed

Draft Stories:
Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, RG, RT, RE, MLB, CB, FS

  • Behind Enemy Lines: Arizona DE Mash Johnson terrorizes Hawaii, nets 2.5 sacks and 3 tackles for loss.
    • "Does Hawaii's offensive line know they're not supposed to let Mash Johnxon into their backfield every play?" - Trey Wingo

  • Stopping Power: Memphis TE Kevin Bobak hauls in 5 catches against Duke, but only totals 24 yards.
    • "How long is Memphis going to let Kevin Bobak embarrass himself? Move him to RT now! He's made of molasses."
Owners Corner:
  • Scouting:
    • Unfortunately that story about Kevin Bobak (TE) makes me want to not look at him anymore. I need a Tight End but I would rather a Tight End who can move after the catch rather than be a statue.

    • Mash Johnson is looking like a better and better candidate for DE. While Lamarr Houston is doing a very solid job at LE, I need that other side locked down too. Mash is definitely 100% on my radar as a mid-1st round pick.

  • Play-Style Change: Looking around at my team stats, I spread the ball around WAY too evenly. My top 5 receivers are McFadden (15), Reece, Rivera (14), Moore (12), and Streater (10). While the numbers are absolutely atrocious for Week 6 - I mean really, Wes Welker had 11 receptions in the game against us - I need to get the ball to the WRs more, and I am going to make a point to get at least 5 targets to Moore and Streater, and then throw to my backs, second.

This was a tough game. Had the early lead but the Chiefs took over and this game got torn apart in the 3rd Quarter.

The Offense was very good today, but unfortunately our mistakes were very very costly. Matt McGloin had 3 Interceptions, and it really wasn't very pretty. Darren McFadden had a very solid game but got injured with Turf Toe late in the 4th Quarter. Denarius Moore was our shining star receiver today; and put up big yardage on only 3 receptions. I was able to get the ball to our receivers more than the backs, but McFadden still was tied for the lead with 3 receptions. The biggest problem today wastwo things: 1) We racked up 9 penalties, 6 of which were holding calls; and most of which came on the final drives when I was making big plays. 2) Our team's best player; Sebastian Janikowski missed 2 Field Goals today, which if both of these mistakes didn't happen, this could very well have been a different turnout.

The Defense was not good today. This was the first game that really showed me our glaring weaknesses. Sio Moore is dearly missed and our right side of the defense is really hurting with a Right End who is rated in the mid-50's. Donnie Avery was able to take passes that were on short-to-medium ins and take them for 10-15 yards extra and that just destroyed our defense.

Re: A New Owner.. Raiders become Diablos (XBone|M25)

Week 7

Player Performance Rankings
  • M. McGloin: 1,097 Passing Yards – 18th in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 474 Rushing Yards - 16th in NFL
  • N. Roach: 7 Sacks – 3rd in NFL
  • L. Houston: 6 Sacks – 4th in NFL

Team Performance Rankings
  • Raiders Offensive Rank: 6th - 2,326 Total Offensive Yards

    • Pass: 6th – 1,573 Total Passing Yards
    • Rush: 10th – 753 Total Rushing Yards

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 8th - 1,735 Total Yards Allowed

    • Pass: 9th – 1,197 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 8th – 538 Total Rushing Yards Allowed

Draft Stories:
Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, RG, RT, RE, MLB, CB, FS

  • Banged Up: UNLV WR Ramon Bautista dislocates shoulder after trying to truck an Air Force CB.
    • "Reports have Ramon Bautista coming back from separated shoulder in a couple of weeks." - Susannah Collins
Owners Corner:

Scouting
  • Players on My Radar:

    • Dane Honani (QB - #1 Overalli / #1 QB) - Throughout my scouting of this player, I have found that he is easily the best QB available for my system. His grades are quite impressive, but he does only have a C for Awareness. However, he has an A for Throw Power, and his Throw Accuracies are B (Overall), and A/B/B (Short/Medium/Deep) are very impressive.

    • Mash Johnson (RE - #17 Overall / #2 RE) - I did not get into Mash until Week 3's report of his 3 sack game against Colorado St. His grades are quite good for a rookie. The most impressive thing is that he has a B Agility and A for Finesse Moves, which is amazing for being a 318lb Defensive End.

    • Albus Barbados (HB - #82 Overall / #6 RB) - Albus was another late addition but he could be a good pick up for the late 3rd Round this year. What I like about him is that while he might not have the best pure RB grades, he has great pass-catching abilities.
  • Roster Changes:

    • Drops: I had to drop Jacoby Ford (WR - 76 OVR). Over the last few games during the few plays he was put in as a wideout, he dropped his targets and also has been fumbling kickoffs and punts.
    • Adds: I added Deon Butler (WR - 72 OVR). His statistics are quite good in the categories that I pay most attention to. I was looking more for a Possession receiver like David Gettis but his numbers weren't a match for Butler's.
  • Depth Chart Changes:

    • I simply stuck Deon Butler in Jacoby Ford's old #5 spot. He will only go in when the starters are running on fumes.
    • Taiwan Jones is now my return specialist.

Week 8

Player Performance Rankings
  • M. McGloin: 1,097 Passing Yards – 25th in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 474 Rushing Yards - 20th in NFL
  • N. Roach: 7 Sacks – 5th in NFL
  • L. Houston: 6 Sacks – 7th in NFL

Team Performance Rankings
  • Raiders Offensive Rank: 15th - 2,326 Total Offensive Yards

    • Pass: 13th – 1,573 Total Passing Yards
    • Rush: 19th – 753 Total Rushing Yards

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 1st - 1,735 Total Yards Allowed

    • Pass: 1st – 1,197 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 2nd – 538 Total Rushing Yards Allowed

Draft Stories:
Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, RG, RT, RE, MLB, CB, FS

  • Get Back: Washington's LT Boris Kozlov handles Arizona DE Mash Johnson, pancaking him twice.
    • "Boris Kozlov is the man. Held Mash Johnson to two tackles for losses. That's very, VERY impressive." - Todd McShay
  • Drop a Nickel: UNLV WR Ramon Bautista returns as a CB for a game against Louisiana Tech; plays out of nickel and gets a sack late in the game.
    • "No problem putting Ramon Bautista in the secondary, but make him a press corner, already. Not a nickel back." - Trey Wingo
  • All Over the Field: BYU HB Albus Barbados has 128 yards rushing, 67 receiving and 2 TDs in close loss.
    • "Here's a stat that'll get you going: Albus Barbados is averaging 7.8 per attempt this season. UNSTOPPABLE!" - Trey Wingo
Owners Corner:

Scouting:
  • I like the idea of Ramon Bautista in at CB. I will see what his important CB stat grades look like, and if they look decent I might consider him for a late pick.

  • Wow that is extremely impressive about Boris Kozlov pancaking my #2 prospect twice. It doesn't take anything away from Mash it is just impressive that the move from TE to LT worked out so well for Boris. I have quite the left tackle already, so he is no longer on my radar.

  • Albus Barbados is just scorching. He is reminding me of a Darren Sproles-like player out of the backfield with his numbers, and he is definitely looking like a solid pick in this draft. I will be scouting his Injury rating, and if it is good I might not resign Darren McFadden.
Return from Injury: I get Sio Moore back this week from his Fractured Forearm and I am very excited to see how much better.

I accidentally simmed this game. I am very mad at myself for doing so, but whatever. The statistics are all correct; but the scoring log is wrong. I do not know when the players scored or how long their scores went for as the only way to get that information is if I play the game. The only things you can view are the Team Stats and the Player Stats. Unfortunately it resulted in a loss, but everyone seemed to play well; but somehow we only got the ball for less than 1/3 of the game. I guess we move on to next week.

One thing that pisses me off about simming the game, however, is that there were 4 people placed on the Injury Report. That really got me mad.

Players Added to Injury Report:
  • Charles Woodson - Dislocated Knee (5 Weeks)
  • Kevin Maiava - Upper Arm Fracture (5 Weeks)
  • Mike Brisiel - Broken Thumb (4 Weeks)
  • Nick Roach - Partial MCL Tear (3 Weeks)
Of course I get my star linebacker back, and lose 2 of my 4 starters in the same game along with my starting Right Guard and my starting Free Safety. Beyond Pissed at myself for accidentally hitting A on Advance Week instead of 'Play Game' but oh well.

Re: A New Owner.. Raiders become Diablos (XBone|M25)

Week 9

Player Performance Rankings
  • M. McGloin: 1,315 Passing Yards – 22nd in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 495 Rushing Yards - 23rd in NFL
  • N. Roach: 7 Sacks – 5th in NFL
  • L. Houston: 6 Sacks – 8th in NFL

Team Performance Rankings
  • Raiders Offensive Rank: 15th - 2,647 Total Offensive Yards

    • Pass: 10th – 1,791 Total Passing Yards
    • Rush: 18th – 856 Total Rushing Yards

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 1st - 2,094 Total Yards Allowed

    • Pass: 2nd – 1,429 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 4th – 665 Total Rushing Yards Allowed

Draft Stories:
Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, RG, RT, RE, MLB, CB, FS

  • Leaping Bobak: Memphis TE Kevin Bobak opens up running lanes and has a great leaping TD catch against Southern Miss.

    • "I know @skipbaylessEA thinks Kevin Bobak belongs on the O-Line, but O-Lineman don't make catches like that." - Ross Tucker.
Owners Corner:

Contract Negotiations:
  • Marcel Reece: He deserves a big extension. I will be giving him whatever he wants.

    • His Desired Contract: 4 Years / $17.6M ($4.4M per year)

    • My Offer: 5 Years / $30M - ($5M per year + $1M Bonus)
Scouting: I finally achieved 10,000 Scouting Points which is the amount you need to unlock the 'Development' Grade, and this is the real way to determine how a prospect is going to be in the NFL, the best you can get is a 'Star' rating

  • I went after Mash Johnson's Development Rating, and he unfortunately has a 'Slow' Development rating. I am very bummed about that, but he is still a good prospect. to pick up. I could look into the next RE down (Jacques Dylan - #39 Overall / #3 RE) but I think I may just go after Mash.
Roster Changes:
  • Drops: There was a tough decision between dropping Chimdi Chekwa (CB - 76 OVR) and rookie Chance Casey (CB - 73 OVR).I chose to drop Chekwa due to him being worse in Zone Coverage, and being 2 years older. I had to make this move to grab another Linebacker, out of necessity.

  • Adds: I addded Jamar Chaney (MLB - 68 OVR). His numbers looked really good, and he has a very high set of attributes in Pursuit, Acceleration and Agility, and Play Recognition.
Depth Chart Changes: I have to deal with all the injuries from last week's simming debacle, so here are my changes.

  • Right Guard: Mike Brisiel (RG - 81 OVR) is out for 4 weeks with a Broken Thumb. However, instead of starting the next Right Guard there was a surprising name that popped up with a high rating - Matthew McCants (LT - 81 OVR for RG). He is now the backup to Brisiel.
  • Middle Linebacker: Both Nick Roach and Kevin Maiava will be missing time (3 and 5 Weeks, respectively). My top backup is Miles Burris (ROLB - 74 OVR) and my other backup is newcomer Jamar Chaney (MLB - 68 OVR), with Kaelin Burnett (LOLB - 69 OVR) playing backup to all of the LB positions.

This game was a laughable blowout. When I was typing out the Team Stats I actually laughed out loud when I went over the Possession Time; 10 minutes of total offense hilarious. In the rain in Oakland I thought I needed to run the ball all game after having a terrible 1st Quarter of dropped passes, but boy was I wrong.

The Offense was astounding today. Matt McGloin got very lucky today, but good lord he had some amazing looking passes. He actually had 2 long bombs to Denarius Moore, one was an 79 yard pass that was called back on a holding call. I was pretty pissed, but a couple drives later, however, he hit Moore for a 72 yard bomb. It seems like whenever the Eagles scored a Field Goal, the first play from scrimmage for the Raiders went for a big score. Darren McFadden and Denarius Moore were the benefactors of big plays; and while they only had 3 and 1 receptions respectively they went for big yardage. McFadden also had a decent game on the ground averaging 4 yards a carry on the day; he could have added more yardage had it not been for the quick scores.

The Defense was quite amazing today. While we did give up quite a bit of yardage to LeSean McCoy; we gave up yardage to LeSean McCoy... kind of figured that was going to happen. I was surprised to see Mike Vick starting over Nick Foles, so I had to watch the Read Option more than normal; and before the second half we did quite the job at holding him to small amounts of yardage. In their first starts Miles Burris and Jamar Chaney did a decent job at plugging their holes and protecting against the run. Chaney's only tackle on the day was actually his first sack on the year, which held the Eagles from 3rd and 1 and forced them to punt.

Re: A New Owner.. Raiders become Diablos (XBone|M25)

Week 10
*****Slider Changes******
I have been happy with the numbers I have been getting with the Rush Defense; I just want to raise it a tiny bit, I rose the CPU Rush Block from 93 to 95.

I also have been disappointed with the Passing Attack for the Computer as well (I know, I'm just setting myself up for a tough *** time, but there is NO way the Raiders should be #1 against the Pass) so I lowered the User Pass D Reaction Time AND the User Pass Coverage from 85 down to 80.

Last Change, I have only had 2 Interceptions up to this point, there have been at least 90% of the Interception / Going for the Catch animations that have dropped to the ground that should have been picked off. I raised the User Interception rating from 10 to 20.

Player Performance Rankings

  • M. McGloin: 1,573 Passing Yards – 20th in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 543 Rushing Yards - 21st in NFL
  • N. Roach: 7 Sacks – 7th in NFL

This game was another NFC East blowout for the Raiders. I dont know what it is, but we seem to be creaming the teams out East.

Our Offense was impressive today; well, more effectively-described as high-octane. Darren McFadden absolutely blew the lid off his gasket today, and finally showed why he was picked as a first rounder back in 2008. McFadden busted off a 59 yard rush for the first play of the game. The very next play was Rod Streater's 17 yard reception from Matty McGloin. I still am able to spread the ball around to all of my possible receivers more effectively than when I pass it to receivers-first and not backs. Brice Butler is becoming a big red-zone fixture for our offense. Rod Streater is also beginning to heat up and show that the Raiders have other receivers not named Darren McFadden, Marcel Reece, or Denarius Moore on the team.

The Defense was amazing today. We held the Giants Rushing Attack to 21 yards total; and -2 by the end of the first half. The Passing Defense gave up quite a few yards, 318 to be exact; but however while that happened we did intercept Eli 3 times. The Giants were throwing nothing but short or medium length passes that would get swallowed up - all but one that Rueben Randle took to the house at the end of the game and take away that one play and the Defense really could not have done a better job.

Re: A New Owner.. Raiders become Diablos (XBone|M25)

Week 11
*****Slider Changes******

The only thing I really wanted to address for this week was the Fumbles; I realized I have only fumbled the ball 2 times the entire season and both times I recovered them. The Fumbles slider is opposite every other slider, however, and the lower the number the higher the amount of fumbles. So I lowered the USER Fumbles from 75 to 55, and the CPU Fumbles from 75 to 65.

Player Performance Rankings
  • M. McGloin: 1,736 Passing Yards – 20th in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 700 Rushing Yards - 13th in NFL
  • N. Roach: 7 Sacks – 8th in NFL
  • L. Houston: 7 Sacks – 8th in NFL
Team Performance Rankings
  • Raiders Offensive Rank: 10th - 3,392 Total Offensive Yards

    • Pass: 13th – 1,791 Total Passing Yards
    • Rush: 12th – 920 Total Rushing Yards

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 3rd - 2,671 Total Yards Allowed

    • Pass: 4th – 1,838 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 3rd – 833 Total Rushing Yards Allowed
Owners Corner:

Contract Negotiations:

  • Jared Veldheer: Veldheer is another staple of this offense just like Marcel Reece. He is one of the best LT's in the game and he is only 26 years old. Going to have to keep him no matter what.
    • His Desired Contract: 6 Years / $46.2M ($7.7M per year)
    • My Offer: 6 Years / $60M ($8.5M per year + $1.5M Bonus)

This game was both good and bad for us today; while we got the win, Matt McGloin looked pretty ugly and made his high Interception total even higher and we lost Darren McFadden to injury for at least a few weeks (Dislocated Ankle).

The Offense today was quite stagnant compared to games past. The Fumble Slider change was actually shown in full force today as I lost a fumble after Brian Cushing absolutely popped Marcel Reece after a short reception. Matt McGloin threw 4 Interceptions, 1 of which was not his fault - the receiver was hit as soon as he caught the ball and it landed in the hands of a safety, but otherwise his accuracy was completely off. The running game was also stagnant but at least they got good averages off their runs.

The Defense was both good and bad as well; everything was a mixed bag today. While we stopped one of the best Running Backs in the game in Arian Foster (17 carries, 42 yards, 0 TDs), we gave up big yardage to a couple receivers. Keshawn Martin (covered by Mike Jenkins), Denard Hopkins (covered by D.J. Hayden) both nabbed 8 receptions for 68 and 108 yards with Hopkins nabbing a nice TD late in the game, and Andre Johnson (covered by Antoine Winfield) even grabbed 5 receptions for 60 yards, most of them sideline grabs. I'm going to chalk this up to a bad day for the corners but it was quite embarrassing, as we made T.J. Yates look like Phillip Rivers.

    • Pass: 5th – 2,066 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 2nd – 875 Total Rushing Yards Allowed
Owners Corner:

McFadden Injury Thoughts: Well, it finally happened. Darren McFadden went down with yet another injury. It really kills me that this happened but I have to stay true to my word; he will not be re-signed when his contract extension comes up.. Hopefully Rashad Jennings comes through.

Matt McGloin:
The Matt McGloin experiment might have come to a head; he has reached 20 Interceptions on the season; it's quite embarrassing. He will get the start this week, but I may end up using David Carr; I think my only criteria for him to stay starting is if he can maintain a positive TD:INT ratio.

Contract Negotiations:

  • Jared Veldheer: Contract Offer Accepted! (6 Years / $60M -- $8.5M per year + $1.5M Bonus)
    • Another BIG re-signing for us. This locks down the Left Anchor of our line, and I am very happy right now. We have locked down 2 of the top 3 players on our team.
Injuries: *still ringing my Monty Python bell*
* = new injury

  • Taiwan Jones (CB) - Partial MCL Tear (6 Weeks)
  • Darren McFadden (RB) - Dislocated Ankle (4 Weeks)*
  • Charles Woodson (FS) - Dislocated Knee (2 Weeks)
  • Kevin Maiava (MLB) - Upper Arm Fracture (2 Weeks)
  • Mike Brisiel (RG) -Broken Thumb (1 Weeks)
However, I do get Nick Roach (MLB) back for this week and I am very happy. I was quite impressed with my backups, especially my signing of Jamar Chaney who ended up being a very solid Middle Linebacker, and thanks to his stint he will move up to be my #3 MLB for the rest of the year.

This game was all Raiders all day.

The Offense was great today and Matt McGloin was absolutely great today. Matt kept a 2:1 ratio, and only missed 7 passes on the day; while he didn't have any big plays like I am used to, he did maintain a 13 YPC which was great. Denarius Moore was solid today, as he maintained a 20 yards per catch today but did not catch a TD. Rod Streater was the exact oppositte today, he had 3 drops today, 2 off of his hands and one literally bounced off of his face.

The Defense was incredible today. While we only managed to get the one turnover, we did hold the entire Titans offense to just over 250 yards. Jake Locker managed only 200 yards passing, but did manage to hit Justin Hunter and Nate Washington for big gains on the day; raising their averages. Otherwise, the Titans couldn't get anything going on the day; even their megastar Chris Johnson couldn't get the light of day today.

An all-around great performance for the Raiders, and we move to 7-4 which is an amazing turnaround for the Raiders especially on the All-Madden difficulty and hard as hell sliders I have set up for myself.

Re: A New Owner.. Raiders become Diablos (XBone|M25)

Week 13

*****Slider Changes******

Yet another slider I need to change is the Minimum Speed Threshold - after seeing Pat Sims catch up to Chris Johnson on a short pass last week against the Titans. The slider is now changed from 25 to 5.

The other change I made was actually a Game Setting; I changed the Play Clock Runoff from 12 seconds to 15 seconds. Not a big change, just gives more time to call hot routes or audibles.

Player Performance Rankings
  • M. McGloin: 2,181 Passing Yards – 17th in NFL
  • D. McFadden: 750 Rushing Yards - 13th in NFL

  • M. Jenkins: 4 Interceptions - 6th in NFL

  • Raiders Defensive Rank: 1st - 2,941 Total Yards Allowed

    • Pass: 3rd – 2,236 Total Passing Yards Allowed
    • Rush: 2nd – 935 Total Rushing Yards Allowed
Owners Corner:

Injuries: *still ringing my Monty Python bell* First Darren McFadden goes down for multiple weeks, draining my remaining confidence in his entire future as a Raider; and now my best defender, Tyvon Branch, goes down for the rest of the regular season with a Upper Arm Fracture. Tough times right now for the Raiders; I really need to get a better Trainer come this off season.

D. Murray ----

This was a killer come-from-behind victory for us today; and an amazing way for everyone to celebrate Thanksgiving with an absolute classic game for the ages.

This was the game of two halves. The First Half was all Cowboys, all day.

Tony Romo was on absolute fire honing in on 100% of his passes, throwing all of his touchdowns in the first 24. I could only get into the backfield one time the entire first half, and it was simply to rush Romo, not even to sack him. Romo spread the ball around perfectly, and just was looking like Peyton Manning; actually - he looked better than the best QB around, he was simply perfect. The Raiders could not stop a receiver for the life of them, and DeMarco Murray was able to break open some solid runs and keep drives alive with some great, long catches out of the backfield. However, it seems like great Running Back play was a common theme as Rashad Jennings took a run up the gut for a 15 yard score and then late in the half took a screen pass 40 yards to the house.

It was looking very grim as the clock ran down to 0 with the score being 14 - 24. While we were able to put up 14 points, it was the ugliest defensive performance for the first half I have ever seen. The Second Half, however, turned up ALL Raiders.

Matt McGloin finally began looking like an amazing QB in the 2nd Half; and if not for the atrocious 1st Half he would've had some amazing numbers. McGloin was able to spread the ball around to his receiving core very well, and while none of them had a high amount of receptions, they all had great yardage. What I mean by this, was while Rod Streater had 3 receptions for 56 yards (18.6 YPC, TD) Denarius Moore only had 1 reception but it went for 35 yards on that one catch; everyone made the most of what they were given. I will admit, the penalties were high today, but that was because of user error (don't take ambien before playing a game - you will get Delay of Games out the ***).

On the ground, Rashad Jennings didn't really excel at rushing the ball like Darren McFadden had been doing all this year, he did have a solid set of numbers (17 Car. for 54 yards (3.1 avg.) TD, 2 Rec. for 43 yards (21.5 YPC) TD).

You have to play the full game in order to win, and while we were getting our asses handed to us to begin, we gave back a hell of a beating to win this one. Good job for us, as we tie our best win total of the last decade (2011 and 2010 - 8 wins) but this year is different as we have another 4 games to play.

I realistically didn't think I'd be saying this in my first season as an owner, but I want us in the playoffs dammit.
