Coaching Career of James Frizzell (NCAA 14)

Dynasty Rules
System: Xbox 360
Rosters: The Original OS Renamed Ones (not Rerated)
Difficulty: Heisman
Recruiting Difficulty: Heisman
Sliders: Slider set by jello1717 (meant to curtail the read option's over-effectiveness)
Coaching Progression: Slowest

Greetings, all. After a lot of trying, I finally was able to obtain a slider set I am happy with, thanks to jello1717. I had been wanting to start a dynasty with a spread option playbook for quite awhile, but I had always been dismayed by the read option being virtual cheese in this game. Fortunately, with some slider changes (namely, lowering the RBA to 25), this seems to have been solved with jello1717's sliders.

I will begin as the head coach of the UAB Blazers. I know most people go the offensive/defensive coordinator route first, but I like to coach both sides of the ball, so I couldn't pass up becoming a HC right away. It will be rough, though, because UAB isn't very good at all and Conference USA has a few decent teams (ECU, Marshall).

Garrick McGee Resigns as Head Coach of UAB

In a surprising move, just weeks before the start of the 2013 season, UAB head coach Garrick McGee has resigned from his position, citing personal reasons. McGee went 3-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play in this first season as head coach of the Blazers.

The UAB Athletic Department was forced to scramble with practice less than two weeks away, and unknown high school coach James Frizzell has been named as McGee's replacement. Frizzell favors a 3-4 defensive approach and is a big proponent of the spread option offense.

"I'm glad to be here and I look forward to becoming a UAB Blazer," remarked Frizzell in his opening press conference. "It is an honor to be selected as head coach and I look forward to turning this program around."

UAB has only made one bowl game in its history and hasn't had a winning record since 2004, when the Blazers went 7-5 and lost to Hawaii 59-40 in the Hawaii Bowl, in their only bowl appearance on record under current Tennessee Tech head coach Watson Brown.

Frizzell will have an uphill battle coming up as UAB is projected to finish last in Conference USA.

Troy Scores Late Touchdown to Outlast UAB, 17-16

The UAB Blazers (0-1) led for the first 59 minutes and 43 seconds of the game, but failed to garner a victory as Troy Trojans (1-0) quarterback Corey Robinson tossed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Eric Thomas for a go-ahead score that put them up 17-16 with just 17 seconds remaining. UAB would run out of time on their ensuing drive and the Trojans would start their season off right with a victory at home.

UAB led 10-0 early, 13-10 at halftime, and 16-10 after Ty Long kicked and made a 33-yard field goal with 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Trojans quarterback Corey Robinson threw for 269 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception for the Trojans.

The UAB Blazers did have success on the ground with their option attack as they ran for 245 yards as a team. Four players rushed for at least 26 yards. Greg Franklin led the Blazers in rushing with 15 carries for 101 yards.

UAB will face #13 LSU next week in Baton Rouge.

Re: Coaching Career of James Frizzell (NCAA 14)

Tigers Blow Out UAB, 63-17

UAB (0-2) hung around with No. 11 LSU for awhile, and scored two consecutive touchdowns to tie the game at 14-14 midway through the second quarter. However, the Tigers' offense finally came alive late in the first half as they reeled off three consecutive touchdowns to seize a 35-14 halftime advantage.

The Tigers would continue to pile it on in the third quarter and would cruise in the fourth quarter to win 63-17 while piling up 636 yards of total offense.

LSU's Senior quarterback Zach Mettenerger passed for 308 yards and five touchdowns while throwing one interception. Kadron Boone was his target on three of those touchdown passes as he caught seven passes for 186 yards and three scores.

The Tigers were also very effective on the ground as Jordan Hill carried the football 29 times for 266 yards and two scores. Alfred Blue also added two more scores on his only two carries of the game.

UAB's offense performed fine in the first half, but found it tough to move the football in the second half. The Blazers were held to 155 yards on the ground and were forced to air it out more than head coach James Frizzell would have liked, as Austin Brown attempted 35 passes in the game, only completing 16 of them for 155 yards and two picks.

Next, UAB will look to get back on track and pick up their first win of the year in two weeks against FCS foe Northwestern State after a bye week.
