2023 Offseason Training Camp and Preseason
2023 Training Camp Camp Invites Veterans S Michael Potter, S Lamarcus Joyner, OT Garett Bolles, LB Jon Bostic, WR Jaron Moss Undrafted Free Agents S Dillon Joseph, QB CJ Renner, FB Brandan Pakulak, CB Frank Hodges, OG Peter Bomar, S Demarcus Alden, DE Alani Gates Position Battles Starters will not be named until after the final 53-man cut, but here is a breakdown of each position with the projected starter (S) and the dark horse (DH) who could possibly take the job away. Quarterback Projected Starter Tyrod Taylor Dark Horse Trevar Lawrence Lawrence was the guy most of last year before Taylor took over the spot. After leading the Jets to the AFC Championship game it's more about Taylor losing the job than Lawrence winning it. Battle Intensity? LOW Running Backs Projected Starters James White ; Derrick Henry ; Ty Montgomery (3DRB) Dark Horse Henry Cherry All signs point to a RBBC, which is how HC Johnson has always run his offenses. Cherry, who was one of the leagues most surprising breakouts last season, is at risk of losing snaps to White. Don't count him out though as he's still getting better each day. Battle Intensity? MODERATE Full Back Projected Starter Danny Vitale Battle Intensity? NONE Wide Receiver Projected Starters (WR1) Cedric Carlson (WR2) Donteea Dye/Braxton Miller (Slot) CJ Webb Dark Horse Barry Valentine, Jaron Moss Both Valentine and Moss come in after starting their careers in New England. They are familiar with the system here and with the slot position up for grabs it's likely not a matter of if either of them will take it, but which one. Battle Intensity? HIGH Tight End Projected Starters George Kittle Battle Intensity? NONE Offensive Line Projected Starters (LT) Trent Williams, (LG) Andrew Norwell, (C) Travis Swanson, (RG) Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, (RT) Pearson Kindle Dark Horses (LT) Garrett Tait, (RT) Marcus Gilbert, (OG/C) Rob Studebaker (R) Tait, who started a handful of games at LT last season, will have a tough time passing up Williams at LT. Meanwhile, Gilbert and Studebaker bother have the possible of unseating starters from last season. The right side of the line was weaker and both players have a shot to dethrone the incumbent starters. Battle Intensity? HIGH Defensive Ends Projected Starters Dante Fowler, PJ Hall, Carlos Dunlap Dark Horses Alani Gates (R), Curtis Coley There's not much of a change of either Gates or Coley taking a starting spot, but they both have opportunities to earn a larger split in the rotation with Dunlap. Battle Intensity? LOW Defensive Tackles Projected Starters Leonard Williams, Nathan Shepard Battle Intensity? NONE Outside Linebackers Projected Starters Erick Bowden, Taviouzie Russell Dark Horse Pearson Chambers (R) Chambers has been electric in camp, flying to the ball, and making play after play after play. Unfortunately for him Bowden and Russell, two outstanding rookies from last season, have a firm grip on both starting spots. I'll take an injury to either for Chambers to earn much playing time other than on special teams. Battle Intensity? LOW Inside Linebacker Projected Starter Jaylon Smith Battle Intensity? NONE Cornerbacks Projected Starters (CB1) Sidney Jones, (CB2) Teez Tabor, (SLOT) Janoris Jenkins Battle Intensity? NONE Safeties Projected Starters (SS) Jamall Adams, (FS) Marcus Maye Dark Horse (FS) Lamarcus Joyner There's not chance that Adams loses his spot, but Maye has to prove he's the teams true starting free safety. He's already lost the starting spot twice in the past three seasons, but he filled in nicely during Weddle's injury last year. Joyner still has the chops to be a starter in this league so this should be an interesting battle to watch. Battle Intensity? HIGH Place Kicker Projected Starter Matt Prater Battle Intensity? NONE Kick/Punt Returners Projected Starters (KR/PR) Jaron Moss, (KR)Barry Valentine Battle Intensity? NONE Long Snapper Projected Starter Rick Lovato Battle Intensity? NONE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Preseason Game 1: L 17-0 Game 2: L 35-21 Game 3: L 38-7 Game 4: W 28-25 Injury Report OUT RB James White - Arm Fracture - 5-8 WEEKS OT Trent Williams - Shoulder - 5-7 WEEKS QB Trevor Lawrence - High Ankle Sprain - QUESTIONABLE The loss of White and Williams, both big free agent adds this past offseason, will be big hits to the offense. Lawrence, who injured his ankle during the third preseason game, has a chance to be cleared by Week 1. PUP List DE Dante Fowler Jr - Dislocated Ankle Fowler went down with the injury midway through camp but looks to be on track to return early in the season. However, being on the PUP list will mean he will miss the first six weeks of the season even if he is cleared to return earlier. Injured Reserves RB Henry Cherry - ACL Tear WR CJ Webb - Shoulder Tear RB TY Montgomery - Foot Fracture DE Carlos Dunlap - Dislocated Hip Huge losses all around for the Jets. A few days after Dante Fowler injured his ankle while participating in camp drills, Cherry went down with a non-contact ACL injury during drills and then Webb tore his shoulder later that same afternoon. Montgomery and Dunlap were both lost during preseason games, leaving the depth at RB and DE thin. Last edited by TMJOHNS18; 02-13-2019 at 09:27 PM. |

2023 Final Roster and Schedule
Roster Finalization Injuries have created a lot of problems putting together the final roster. ON the offensive side, rookie QB CJ Rennes made the team as a gadget player, much like Taysom Hill was used in the past. The versatile Braxton Miller also has been taking snaps with the RBs to help out with the lack of depth at the position. Meanwhile on defense Erick Bowden moved from LB to DE to fill in for for Fowler and Dunlap, which means rookie Pearson Chambers will fill in for Bowen at OLB. In total 9 rookies (3 UDFA's) and 10 second-year players made the roster. Much of the our success this year will depend on young players stepping up. 2023 Season (Part 1)
2023 Season (Part 1)
Week 1 @ Denver W 42-20 QB T Taylor 16/25 197 YARDS 3 TD 1 INT RB B Miller 10 ATT 157 YARDS 1 TD WR J Moss 4 REC 85 YARDS LB P Chambers 8 TAK 2 TFL 2.5 SACKS 1 INT 1 TD Roster Moves - WR E Rossouw signed to PS (LB T Neal signed by KC) Quick Recap - A wild first quarter saw 35 points put up between the two teams, including two offensive touchdowns (NYJ), two defensive touchdowns (NYJ), and a special teams score (DEN). The 2nd quarter calmed down as the teams only exchanged a touchdown and a field goal. After two quarters the Jets had a commanding 35-10 lead thanks in part to a couple huge rushing gains by Miller. The 3rd quarter featured a defense battle and plenty of sacks for both sides, with the Jets hitting 10 total sacks by the end of the quarter. The Broncos made a bit of noise in the 4th, intercepting Taylor and moving the ball a bit, but could only put up a single score in the blowout. Not everything went the Jets way tonight, as Teez Tabor injured his shoulder in the early 4th and did not return to the game. Week 2 @ New York (1-0) L 42-28 QB T Taylor 15/35 239 YARDS 3 TD 2 INT QB T Taylor 1 ATT 25 YARDS RB B Miller 6 REC 96 YARDS 2 TD LB J Smith 16 TAK Roster Moves - None Quick Recap - The Giants started the game off with the ball and started off strong. After scoring a touchdown on their first possession, they forced a fumble and scored again to take a quick 14-0 lead. The proceeded to exchange touchdown drives over the next quarter and a half, which saw the Giants take a 27-14 lead into the break. The Jets were able to make it a 7-point game before the Giants ran away with the game as their fierce pass rush and stout run defense kept the Jets offense unable to sustain drives. Week 3 Vs Las Vegas (0-2) L 33-16 QB T Taylor 10/23 159 YARDS 1 TD 3 INT RB D Henry 9 ATT 40 YARDS RB B Miller 4 REC 79 YARDS Roster Moves - None Quick Recap - The Jets jumped out to a 6-0 lead on back to back field goal drives late in the 1st. Following a field goal drive of their own the Bills took the lead on the heels of an interception of Taylor early in the 2nd. New York retook the lead later in the 2nd on a Kittle touchdown. Up until that point Taylor had been rather unspectacular and Lawrence was seen warming up on the sideline. Taylor may have been able to stay in but on the first play of the next New York drive he threw a pick six. Lawrence came in on the next drive and promptly moved the ball downfield. Unfortunately for New York he fumbled it away on a scramble. The Raiders then extended their lead to 24-13. Lawrence fumbled it again scrambling, setting up a Raider field goal and a 27-13 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half the game turned into a defensive slugfest with neither team doing much offensively. The Raiders added a couple field goals and the Jets only mustered a single one. Lawrence finish the game with a pretty poor stat line, going 6/17 for 99 yards, not the showing he needed if he wanted to supplant Taylor as the starter. Week 4 Vs Kansas City (1-2) W 36-31 QB 24/37 306 2 TD RB B Miller 23 ATT 63 YARDS 1 TD WR C Carlson 4 REC 109 YARDS DE PJ Hall 9 TAK 4.0 SACK Roster Moves - OT Marcus Gilbert promoted to starter at RT Quick Recap - The game started off slow for both teams as the offenses struggle to get goin in the rain. Soon though the Chiefs started to click and were able to go up 14-0 by the end of the 1st. New York finally got things going late in the half, scoring each time on their final three drives to take a 21-0 halftime lead. The momentum continued in the third with a couple field goal drives that saw a two quarter 27-3 run by the Jets. Kansas City did make it a game, keeping it close through the remaining quarter and a half but couldn't slow New York down enough to challenge for the lead. Tyrod Taylor had a good day in the rain and finally broke the 300-yards threshold for the first time in HC Johnson's 20th regular season game, a big sign for a passing offense that has struggle to preform under HC Johnson's tenure. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ NFL Draft Stories: Season One Opening Day Update With training camp and preseason in the books, lets see how our rookies are doing. Lance Burger, Quarterback, Wisconsin After a strong preseason Burger was named the starting QB for the Saints. DRAFTED: R1P1 by Saints Markus Troup, Edge Rusher, Oklahoma Troup will be lining up at linebacker and starting for the rebuilding 49ers. DRAFTED: R1P3 by 49ers Keelyan Baker, Wide Receiver, Stanford He start his career off in the slot for Pittsburgh. DRAFTED: R1P10 by Steelers Rob Studebaker, Guard/Center, USC He impressed in camp and won the starting center job for the Jet. DRAFTED: R1P29 by Jets Deontae Glenn, Defensive Tackle, Pittsburgh He'll line up at DT2 for the Lions after beating out a couple veterans for the spot. DRAFTED: R3P12 by Lions Joey Hybl, Guard, South Dakota Arizona picked him much earlier than expected but he prove them right and will be starting at RG. DRAFTED: R3P18 by Cardinals Kevin Leggett, Defensive End, Kansas State Leggett had a bit of a down camp, but he made the team and will be a rotation piece for the Panthers. DRAFTED: R4P22 by Panthers James Obi, Safety, Florida After an outstanding camp and strong preseason showing, this late-round pick will be starting at free safety. DRAFTED: R7P14 by Titans Kolton Slater, Kicker, Georgia Slater went undrafted and it wasn't until his third tryout that he got a camp invite. The Giants loved what he did enough to make him the kicker in 2023. UNDRAFTED: Signed with Giants Last edited by TMJOHNS18; 02-16-2019 at 05:56 PM. |

2023 Season (Part 2)
2023 Season (Part 2)
Week 5 @ Buffalo (1-3) W 51-21 QB T Taylor 19/29 245 YARDS 1 TD RB J White 20 ATT 33 YARDS 3 TD WR J Moss 4 REC 97 YARDS 2 TD LB J Smith 9 TAK 1 INT Roster Moves - CB Teez Tabor, OT Trent Williams, and RB James White ACTIVE Quick Recap - The Jets received a big boost on offense this week with the return of Williams and White. White was a late addition to the active roster but did get the start. New York started off hot and moved quickly down the field but a missed Prater field goal ruined the drive. Buffalo would put the first points up of the day when Josh Rosen connected with Jordan Howard for a 24-yard score. Early in the 2nd the Jets cut the lead to 7-3, forced a quick turnover, and added another field goal to make it a 1-point game. Howard would fumble it away at midfield and New York took advantage of the mistake and scored again, this time on a White running touchdown. A Moss receiving touchdown and second White rushing score capped off a 30-0 2nd quarter rally for New York. Tyrod Taylor, who looked like he was on his way to another 300+ performance, got outside the pocket and landed awkwardly on his non-throwing elbow, bending it in a way it wasn't meant to be bent. He was quickly helped off the field and went immediately to the locker room. Carlson went down later in the 3rd with a knee injury and the Jets offense, which was near full strength for the first time this season, once again was hampered by injuries. With Lawrence under center there were a few misfires, including a strip sack and an interception, but the Jets were able to cruise to an easy victory regardless. No back over .500 the Jets will have to wait and see how severe Taylor's injury is. Week 6 Vs Miami (2-3) L 30-27 QB T Lawrence 24/48 308 YARDS 1 TD 1 INT QB T Lawrence 4 ATT 95 YARDS 1 TD 2 FBL WR B Valentine 3 REC 58 YARDS LB P Chambers 9 TK 1.0 SACK Roster Moves - DE Dante Fowler activated off PUP list, has five week window to return (OUT vs Miami), WR Cedric Carlson moved to IR, WR Martinez Moats signed from PS Quick Recap - With Carlson's injury last week, 3rd-round rookie Martinez Moats is getting a second chance at making the team after being cut and signed to the practice squad following a disappointing preseason. Trevor Lawrence made the first big play of the game, scrambling out of the pocket and taking it 71 yards for rushing score. New York got into the end zone again in the 2nd when Moats picked up his first career score on a 12-yard grab from Lawrence. The Jets started the 2nd half off with the ball, up 14-3, but fumbled it away on the first play when Henry coughed up at his own 25. Miami was able to get a field goal off the good field position to make it a 1-score game. Lawrence then fumbled on a 3rd-down scramble which led to a Dolphins touchdown. A failed 2-point try left it a 14-12 game. The Jets added a field goal near the end of the 3rd, then Miami took the lead in the 4th when Haskins hit Koonce for a short score. Koonce ran in the 2-point try to put the Dolphins up 20-17. With just over 6 minutes to go White ran it in to retake the lead. New York forced a turnover and added a Prater kick to go up by 7. With just over 3 minutes to go Lawrence made terrible pass, trying to throw it to Vitale in the flats, and got intercepted for a touchdown. The game went to overtime and looked to be in the New York's hands until a sack and then strip sack of Lawrence resulted in a huge turnover late in extra time. With 1:22 to go in OT Derek Dimke knocked it in from 28 yards out for the Miami victory. Week 7 - BYE Roster Moves - CJ Renner cut and signed to PS, Dante Fowler returns to practice, ready for WK8. Quick Recap - With six games complete the Jets sit at 3-3, which puts them easily in the hunt for a repeat AFC East title. Tyrod's injury has slowed the offense down a bit, but if the Jets want to secure the division and a playoff spot their defense needs to regain its form from last year. Perhaps the move to a 4-3 base front has had a negative impact? After taking the game to overtime in their first match, New York entered the better rested team following a Week 7 bye. You wouldn't have known by watching the offense struggle in the first half, being shutout and limited to only 115 yards of total offense. Miami didn't do much better but went into the break up 3-0. New York had a good opening drive and tied the game at 3-3. Neither offense did anything the ball until early in the 4th when Haskins found Richie James for the go-ahead score. New York, held to only a couple first downs since the opening of the second half, proceeded to come alive on offense. First, with a 9-play drive that tied the game with a Helu touchdown grab. After that, in the final minutes of the game, another New York possession went down the field to setup a game-winning 31-yard field goal by Prater. Week 9 Vs Buffalo (1-6) W 36-24 QB T Taylor 22/39 319 YARDS 2 TD 1 INT RB J White 22 ATT 122 YARDS 1 TD WR J Moss 4 REC 118 YARDS 1 TD DT L Williams 9 TAK 2 TFL 1.0 SACK 1 FFUMB Roster Moves - QB Tyrod Taylor ACTIVE for the game and will make the start Quick Recap - Tyrod Taylor returned to practice this week and got the start over Lawrence. Following a quiet 1st quarter the Jets kicked a field goal to open the 2nd and put the first points on the board. New York quickly forced a turnover and added another field goal. Another quick turnover gave the Jets the ball at the BUF 14 and another Prater field goal extended the lead. Yet another turnover by Josh Rosen, who had entered the game to replace an injured Josh Allen, gave New York the ball at the 24. The Jets finally got into the end zone on a White run to go up 16-0. Rosen threw a 4th interception in Buffalo territory and again the Jets got an easy 3 points. A few Jets scores later and a terrible 2nd quarter came to an end with the Bills trailing 29-3. The Jets lost a key member of their O-Line in the 3rd when rookie center Rob Studebaker went down with a foot injury and did not return to the game. Down 36-3 early in the 4th the Bills forced a Taylor fumble to spark a 21-0 run to cut the lead to 12 points. Later they picked off Taylor and got all the way down to the NYJ 4. However, on 4th and goal, Rosen wasn’t able to hit his receiver and the ball was turned over on downs. The Jets were then able to run off the final 4 minutes of clock. The Eagles got the first points of the day following a muffed punt which was then recovered by the Jets in their own end zone, leading to a safety. Philadelphia put 3 more points on the board near the end of the 1st after a long drive ended in a chip-shot field goal. George Kittle would score the first touchdown of the game after he snagged a third down heave in the end zone from Taylor early in the 2nd. A missed field goal late by Prater helped setup a go-head scoring drive that put the Eagles up 11-7 late in the 2nd. A strong 3rd quarter performance by the Jets put them up 16-11. Unfortunately their center Travis Swanson exited the game with an elbow injury. James White added a score early in the 4th to put the Jets up 23-11. The Eagles quickly answered to cut the lead to 5 after a quick scoring drive. A big interception setup the Eagles at the NYJ 44, setting up a go-ahead score with 4:51 to go. Taylor led a clutch drive, converting two first downs and capped it off with a 17-yard touchdown to Valentine. Wentz then threw a pick with 1:37 to go at his own 16. Prater put the Jets up 33-26 after three Philadelphia time outs. Wentz got the ball across midfield before a failed fourth down attempt turned it over. Week 11 @ New England (4-5) W 34-7 QB T Taylor 21/29 238 YARDS 3 TD RB J White 23 ATT 93 YARDS WR J Moss 8 REC 72 YARDS DT N Shepard 4 TAK 2.0 SACK Roster Moves - OG to Shaquille Horn to RG, OG Laurent Duverney-Tardif to C Quick Recap - Jeff Driskel had his waste day of as a professional quarterback, posting an 8.7 QB Rating on the day. He went 7-27 for 57 yards and 2 interceptions. Meanwhile, Tyrod Taylor completed 72% of his passes with touchdowns thrown to George Kittle, Braxton Miller, and Barry Valentine. Braxton Miller got the scoring going in the first and, after a Sony Michel rushing score in the 2nd, it looked to be a tight game. But the Jets proceeded to score 27 unanswered points and easily walk away with the divisional win to move to 7-3. Week 12 Vs Houston (4-6) W 45-9 QB T Taylor 17/24 185 YARDS 2 TD RB J White 97 YARDS 2 TD WR J Moss 5 REC 46 YARDS DE E Bowden 10 TAK 1 TFL 0.5 SACK Roster Moves - None Quick Recap - A rainy and wet field slowed down the Jets offense in the 1st quarter, but adjustments to their attack gave way a huge 38-6 run over the next two quarters. Rushing scores from White and Henry put the Jets up 14-6 midway through the 2nd, then a Kittle score near halftime extended the lead to 15. Dye joined the scoring a 1-yard catch, with Taylor running it in himself to finish off a 17-point 3rd quarter. White got his second score late in the game after a long, time-consuming 15-play drive. After the game the Jets received bad news as Marcus Maye, who had left the game early in the 2nd half, was diagnosed with a foot fracture and is likely to miss the rest of the season. This injury means that DeMarcus Alden, a 21-year old undrafted rookie out of Massachusetts, will be taking over at FS. After a turnover, rookie WR Moats hauled in a 16-yard touchdown with 5 seconds to play to put the Jets up 10-10 at the break. New York added two mores scores late in the 3rd, a 14-yard catch by Moss and then a Braxton Miller rush after picking off Lamar Jackson a second time. From there the Jets coasted to yet another win, moving to 9-3 on the season and now first place in the AFC. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ NFL Draft Stories: Season One Mid-season Update Halfway through their rookie seasons now, let's take a look at how our first-year players are performing for their respective teams. Lance Burger, Quarterback, Wisconsin Starting every game this season Burger has throw for 1,868 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions, and has helped lead the Saints to a 5-3 record. He's also the leading candidate for NFC OROY. DRAFTED: R1P1 by Saints Markus Troup, Edge Rusher, Oklahoma He's had a rather uneventful first half of the season. Following a 2.5 sack performance in Week 1 he's only tallied 1 additional sack since. Having said that he's still been solid on defense and is considered one of the top NFC defensive rookies. DRAFTED: R1P3 by 49ers Keelyan Baker, Wide Receiver, Stanford Baker is tied for receptions on the team (35) and is a yard behind Smith-Schuster for total receiving yards. He has found the end zone 3 times, again ranking him second on the team. DRAFTED: R1P10 by Steelers Rob Studebaker, Guard/Center, USC After starting the first nine games of the season at center, Studebaker broke his toe midway through Week 9's game versus the Bills and was put on the Injured Reserves list a couple days later, effectively ending his rookie campaign. DRAFTED: R1P29 by Jets Deontae Glenn, Defensive Tackle, Pittsburgh Glenn leads his team in total tackles and tackles for loss, and has also racked up 5 sacks on the year. Currently he's leading all defensive NFC rookies and is the front runner for DROY. DRAFTED: R3P12 by Lions Joey Hybl, Guard, South Dakota Hybl has stared every game this season, has looked great in the run game, and has yet to give up a single sack. DRAFTED: R3P18 by Cardinals Kevin Leggett, Defensive End, Kansas State He's only been on the field for about 15% of the defensive snaps, but has been productive when given a chance as he's gotten 3 sacks in his limited play. DRAFTED: R4P22 by Panthers James Obi, Safety, Florida Obi has played the most snaps of any of our drafted players, and the most on his team. Although his stat line isn't that impressive a big part of it is due to the fear he's brought to opposing quarterbacks who often look to throw away from him. He also is in the running for AFC DROY. DRAFTED: R7P14 by Titans Kolton Slater, Kicker, Georgia He had a rough start to his career with a 1-4 performance on a rainy opening day. Since then he's gone 6-6 on field goals, 23/23 on extra points, and has a 50% touchback rate on kickoffs. UNDRAFTED: Signed with Giants Last edited by TMJOHNS18; 03-04-2019 at 12:13 AM. |

2023 Season (Part 4)
2023 Season (Part 4)
Week 14 @ Los Angeles (6-6) W 27-17 QB T Taylor 14/21 126 YARDS 1 TD 1 INT RB J White 26 ATT 109 YARDS WR D Dye 3 REC 36 YARDS LB J Smith 12 TAK 1 TFL Roster Moves - None Quick Recap - Another Sunday, another Jets win. New York jumped out to a 10-0 1st quarter lead, then were up 17-7 late in the 2nd before Tavecchio made it a one-score game with 35 seconds to go in the half. Prater pushed the lead back to 10 with a 3rd quarter field goal. The Chargers made it a close game late when Gordon ran it in from a yard out to close the lead back down to 3. However, Los Angeles was unable to keep the Jets out of the end zone and Braxton Miller ran in with 33 seconds to go to ice the game. Week 15 Vs Dallas (5-8) W 45-13 QB T Taylor 15/25 226 YARDS 2 TD RB J White 14 ATT 73 YARDS RB B Miller 3 REC 64 YARDS 1 TD CB S Jones 4 TAK 2 INT Roster Moves - None Quick Recap - New York hosted Monday Night Football having won six straight games following the bye, and that momentum wasn't about to let up. After a somewhat sluggish start, the Jets quickly put together back-to-back-to-back-to-back scoring drives to jump ahead 24-0. The Cowboys finally got on the board with just over a minute to play in the half off of an Elliot rushing score. Tyrod Taylor led the Jets down quickly and scrambled for 28 yards for a score to close out the half. The Jets were on cruise control in the second half and had pulled the starters by the start of the 4th. Trevor Lawrence looked good in cleanup duty and tossed a score late to complete the blowout. Week 16 @ New England (7-7) W 31-21 QB T Taylor 15/24 182 YARDS 2 TD 1 INT RB J White 19 ATT 93 YARDS 1 TD WR M Moats 3 REC 73 YARDS DE E Bowden 9 TAK 1 TFL 3.0 SACK Roster Moves - C Travis Swanson ACTIVE (did not start) Quick Recap - Derwyn Holmes, the 3rd-year man out of Maryland, got the start in place of an injured Jeff Driskel for the Patriots. He looked good in the 1st quarter and put up the first points of the game for New England. New York answered with a long drive capped off by a White rushing score. After a couple of Prater field goals in the 2nd, Taylor hit Moss to put the Jets up 13. Holmes operated the 2-minute offense efficiently and hit Boyd for a 22-yard score in the final minute to make it a 20-14 halftime score. The defenses came alive in the 2nd half, with both sides preventing the other from crossing midfield for most of it. The Jets, after adding a field goal late in the 3rd, score once more midway through the 4th and finished the season sweep of the Patriots. Week 17 Vs Washington (6-9) W 24-21 QB T Taylor 28/44 317 YARDS 1 TD RB J White 19 ATT 77 YARDS 1 TD WR D Dye 8 REC 123 YARDS 1 TD LB P Chambers 14 TAK 1 INT Roster Moves - None Quick Recap - The Redskins controlled the ball and the lead for most of this game. After scoring on their opening drive they proceeded to take a 14-0 early in the 2nd. It wasn't until the final play of the first half that the Jets got on the board, on a 48-yard desperation heave hauled in by Dye. Early in the 2nd half the Jets tied the game up on a White run, but Derrius Guice put Washington back up a few minutes later. Late in the 4th Tyrod Taylor scrambled in for a score to tie the game at 21-21. In the final minute Drew Lock got sacked and then, on a third and long, was intercepted by rookie LB Pearson Chambers. New York got down inside the redzone but in the final seconds Miller fumbled it away and the game went to overtime. In overtime, after both teams had a possession, the Jets drove into field goal range and with 3:32 to go Prater split the uprights for the win. This win gives New York its 10th straight win and will head into the playoffs with plenty of momentum and the #1 seed in the AFC. Last edited by TMJOHNS18; 03-04-2019 at 07:20 PM. |

2023 Season Recap
2023 Season Recap Record: 13-3 (AFC East Champions) "Following a 9-7 campaign, and an unlikely AFC East crown, the Jets put together a convincing season this year to prove any doubters wrong that they are the definitive AFC East champs. Coming out of the bye, sitting 3-3, New York rolled off 10 straight wins to run away with the division and take the number one seed into the playoffs. They've earned a much needed rest and should be fresh for the Divisional Round. The biggest story during the 10-game winning streak has to be the play of the defense. Switching to a 4-3 front his year looked to be a bad choice, but after the bye the unit went from a middle-of-the-pack unit to the #1 total defense in the league." New York will be at home next week so HC Johnson allowed for a short week of practice to get some extra rest for the team. Hopefully this won't have any negative effects come next week. Divisional Vs Baltimore (8-8) L 32-27 QB Tyrod Taylor 26/46 360 YARDS 4 TD 2 INT RB B Miller 7 ATT 33 YARDS TE G Kittle 4 REC 106 YARDS 1 TD LB P Chambers 8 TAK 2 TFL 2.0 SACK Roster Moves - None East Rutherford, NJ - The Jets won the toss and elected to kickoff. New York forced a punt thanks to a huge sack by Leonard Williams. Penalties kept the Jets drive from getting going and the ball was punted right back. Later in the 1st Kittle got open on third down, got to the sideline and outran his defender for a 78-yard score. Baltimore quickly responded, marching down the field in two minutes and capping it off with a short Jackson touchdown toss. The Jets hit right back with a long drive of their own that ended with a Valentine toe-tapping touchdown in the final seconds of the quarter. Lamar Jackson made the first big mistake of the game when he threw cross body while under pressure. The pass floated and Sydney Jones was able to snag it for the pick. New York was unable to take advantage of the turnover and punted it away from midfield. On the next Ravens drive Jackson hit Kenny Golladay who shook his defender and went untouched for a long score to tie the game 14-14. New York was able to retake the lead with a touchdown drive. Taylor hit his rookie TE Helu Jr with 4:10 to play in the 2nd. Following the 2-minute warning Taylor under threw his target and the Ravens made a big pick, returning it to the NYJ 40 with 1:51 to play. A huge loss for the Jets happened a couple plays later when Fowler injured his shoulder and left the game. Jackson finished off the drive with his feet when he scrambled for a touchdown to tie the game 21-21 with 55 seconds to go in the half. After a Jets punt the Raven got into Tucker’s range with 10 seconds to play. Tucker knocked it in from 60 yards out and the Ravens took a 3-point lead into the break. New York started the 2nd half off with a three and out, as did the Ravens. James White, who had emerged as the top runner for New York this season, continued to struggle on the ground and was forcing Taylor to pass more. Back up inside his own 5, Taylor took too long to get rid of the ball and was sacked for a safety. Baltimore then moved easily down the field and got down to the 1. A stand by the defense forced a short Tucker field goal, making it a 29-21 Baltimore lead. The Jets moved it across midfield and looked prime to score. Instead, a third down pass by Taylor was tipped and picked off by the Baltimore defense. A handful of players later Jamal Adams intercepted Jackson to get the ball back for the Jets. Dye finished the drive off with a touchdown grab in the final seconds of the 3rd. A failed 2-point attempt left it a 29-27 game after three quarters. Jackson had been using his feet to light up the Jets defense all day but midway through the 4th went to the well one too many times and fumbled inside Jets territory. Trailing by 2 points, and facing a fourth and inches at their own 39, the Jets decided to go for it with 5 minutes to go. Miller was stuffed at the line and the ball was turned over on downs. Tucker added a field goal with 2:34 to make it a 32-27 game. Two quick strikes got the ball to the BAL 44 by the 2-minute warning. Miller caught a 21-yard pass to get inside the 10 with just over a minute to go. Taylor was sacked on second down, a huge mistake that setup a third and goal from the 19. Dye got open but was overthrown by Taylor, setting up a fourth down with 18 seconds to go. New York burned its final timeout to draw up one final play. Dye got one-on-one coverage in the right side of the end zone but couldn’t haul in the contested catch. Jackson kneeled out the clock and the Ravens moved to within one game of the Super Bowl.
