BATTLE FOR THE BASEMENT!!

For the past 3 years, the Troy vs UTSA game has been dubbed the "Battle of the Basement" as typically the loser ends up being the worst team in the SunBelt Conference.

However after today that honor looks to be all Troy's this season, as the Trojans fall short in their 4th Quarter comeback to drop to 0-3 on the season.

GAME RECAP

Troy jumped out to a early (7-0) lead as QB K. Johnson completes a 12 yd TD strike to P. Ray.

UTSA then got a scare as QB L. Winston is forced from the game and is taken to the locker room, leaving Week 1 starter B. Lucas to come back into the game.

Lucas would lead the Road Runners to 13 points in the 2nd Quarter though as he completes a 2 yd TD pass to J. Copper as well as helps set up 41 yd and 37 yd FG's by M. Mitchell to give UTSA the (13-7) lead at the half.

UTSA would open up the 2nd half with another Mitchell FG (22 yds) to make it (16-7), but then Lucas would find his stroke as he hits JR WR Austin Harrell for 2 scores (59 yds and 9 yds) to give the Road Runners the (30-7) lead going into the 4th, as the UTSA Defense steps up creating 3 INT's.

Johnson would bounce back from his 3 earlier INT's though in the 4th Quarter as the throws 2 TD's and runs for another with 35 seconds to play as the Trojans score 21 unanswered points in the 4th. But the failed onside kick allows UTSA to run out the clock and hold on for their 2nd win of the year as they improve to 2-0 at home.

FINAL SCORE UTSA-30 TROY-28

KEY PLAYERS

QB L. Winston finishes 2/6 for 11 yds but the good news is his injury was just for the game. He should be back next week.

QB B. Lucas finished the day 14/27 for 209 yds with 3 TD and 1 INT

RB W. Jones had his best day running the ball finishing with 10 carries for 106 yds (10.6 avg).

RB/WR J. Scott also saw his first carries of the season as he carries it 3 times for 25 yds.

FB's M. Britton and N. Joseph also each had a carry for 7 yds each.

WR A. Harrell however was the POG as he hauls in 5 rec for 116 yds and 2 scores.

Former TE B. Wilcox showed off some big play potential with 2 rec for 41 yds.

On Defense, MLB L. Buckley had 14 tackles including 2 TFL and 1 Sack.

As a team, the Road Runners "D" finished the day with 14 TFL, 5 Sacks and 3 INT's.

Being an unashamed fan of alternate timeline stuff... I'd love to see something like this. I'm already thinking of what to do when I'm done with the Rhinos. (At this point I think I'm aiming for 12 total seasons, roughly three QB eras). I was also browsing around available teambuilders out there and wondering if I wanted another fictional school or to bring some obscure FCS school up to the big time. But the idea of replacing an entire conference with teambuilders is an interesting angle that comes with basically zero baggage... and a ton of possibilities.

HOUSTON WE GOT A PROBLEM!!

When Houston scheduled this non-conference matchup with UTSA, they would've never imagined they would be facing a offense built in similar fashion. However despite both teams being built around pass heavy 4-and 5 WR sets, today's matchup saw both teams match pass attempts 38 to 38 well both ran the ball for over 30 times as well in a actual balance attack.

GAME RECAP

UTSA opened up the game with the ball and Lee Winston quickly drove the Road Runners down field for the score as he finds Austin Harrell on a 5 yd slant.

Houston would tie the game (7-7) as QB S. Andrews hits J. Pittman for a 15 yd strike.

Houston would take the lead in the 2nd Quarter as Andrews shows off his running skills with a 8 yd score to make it (14-7) at the half.

UTSA would get a big stop on the opening series of the 2nd half witch leads to a M. Mitchell 39 yd FG to make it (14-10). UTSA then picks off Andrews to set up a Willie Jones 2 yd TD run to give the Roadrunners the lead (17-14).

Houston would answer back though as Andrews scores his 2nd rushing TD with a 6 yd run. Then the Cougars "D" would return the favor picking off Winston as Andrews goes to the air and finds J. James for a 6 yd score to make it (28-17) as we head to the 4th.

UTSA's M. Mitchell would drill a career long 51 yd FG to open the 4th Quarter scoring to make it 28-20) but then it stayed deadlocked at that until with 47 seconds to play when Winston would hit B. Wilcox on a 27 yd TD to make it (28-26). UTSA would go for the 2 pt conversion and Wilcox again comes up big using his 6'4 frame to haul in the pass over 2 defenders as the Roadrunners tie the game (28-28) to force OT.

UTSA would open up the OT period with the ball, and Winston delivers finding Austin Harrell on the fly for the 30 yd score.

Houston would need a score to force a 2nd OT period, bu the Roadrunners "D" steps up forcing a 3rd and 6 play for the Cougars to keep the series alive and Andrews pass is knocked down MLB L. Buckley.

FINAL SCORE UTSA-35 HOUSTON-28

KEY PLAYERS

QB L. Winston continues to be the hero as he completes 23/38 for 382 yds with 3 TD and 1 INT.

RB Willie Jones continues to give Coach Bryan a solid option out of the backfield with 16 carries for 88 yds and a TD.

RB/WR Jason Scott adds 6 carries for 52 yds as he shows off his speed and quickness.

FR TE Travis Brown continues to shine in his role with a team high 6 rec for 117 yds well Austin Harrell brought in 3 rec for 91 yds and 2 scores.

Former TE B. Wilcox also had a big day with 4 rec for 77 yds along with the game tying TD/2pt play.

UTSA WILL TAKE ON TULANE IN WEEK 6. THE GREEN WAVE ARE 0-3 ON THE YEAR.

I personally really like the Alternate timeline stuff too. 2 of my favorite Youtube series to watch is the Kalispell Warhawks and the Death Valley State Dingos.

The Dingos is really good. He took a team of guy's rated in the 40's and has slowy built them into a Top-25 program. He uses lots of players in multiple sets, with like 3-4 different guy's seeing snaps at QB, rotates in 3-4 guys in the backfield and plays guy's both ways on Defense as well.

I decided to roll as a OC in my current dynasty cause part of me really wants to see how long BSU can stay dominating the country and Pac-12, as well as to see how long Auburn can stay among the elite in the SEC and to see if Griffin can win the Heisman without me.

So far I am having fun.. I am back to having close games (even though I am winning some I didn't think I would) I am struggling with recruiting with the restrictions i have in place, so I think that will help me long term.

I will at some point start a new series and role with my "WAC is Back" idea. I plan on including the Warhawks and Dingos in the WAC... I just havn't picked what team I want to role with yet.

For me it was Kalispell, Death Valley State, West Texas A&M, N. Arizona, N. Colorado, Eastern Washington, Portland State, North Dakota State, Minnesota State, and Southern Idaho, well having Texas State and Idaho join them for a 12 team conference.

Yep, I watch both of them as well. I just discovered Kailspell this past fall shortly after I started my Rhinos thread. I was doing a bunch of honeydew stuff, mainly painting the main floor of the house, and had Kailspell on the headphones the whole time. He's a pretty good amateur play-by-play guy, I wasn't even watching most of the videos, just listening, and I still enjoyed them. Also, the Dingos guy had the Pandas before that, not sure if you've watched that series but it's pretty good as well. They didn't start out quite as terrible as the Dingos, think they were a low 60s team, but it was still an enjoyable time waster.

Well, this right here is the most important part. If you are having fun, then keep on with your bad self. Don't change anything until you're getting bored with what you're doing.
