I have never ran a playoff system using the editor but this was the first time I really wanted too I knew as soon as they both lost a game it was going to be tough for them both to make it back. My only hope was if Michigan or Navy had lost. Army pulled off the upset the year before, but sadly couldn't do it this year, but then went out and dominated NC State to win the American.

Honestly I had zero plans to leave UTSA after just 1 year. Especially with the recruiting class I have coming in. It makes it hard cause I really want to stay , but at the same time I feel like in most cases, when a new coach comes in, he brings his staff with him, but we might have to make a exception and have the new coach pitch a long term contract with the UTSA or something.

I find it showing that a team would even want Lewis. The guy was 6-23 as a HC at UConn, and what's funny in 1 of the sim's I looked, he actually gets rehired by them. I havn't decided what I want to do yet. I have simmed 3 times just to see if there is a one where he stays, but so far he goes to Western Kentucky, UConn and Kansas. I could actually join him at WKU and at Kansas as I was offered the OC job both times.

I also get offered a couple other OC jobs and in 1 sim was offered the Eastern Michigan HC job, but I don't really want to take on a HC job unless it was at UTSA. There is 1 OC job that interests me and was offered to me in all 3 sims, so assume it will be when I officially end the season.

ROADRUNNERS CLAIM BOWL VICTORY

For UTSA the trip to the BBVA Compass Bowl marked just the 6th trip in school history (They have been to 1 IRL in 2016 losing to New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl, but in my dynasty they have been to 6 only winning 1 back in 2017 in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.) coming away with the just the schools 2nd ever win in Coach Steve Lewis's 1st year and possibly only year at the helm.

Rumors are heating up that Lewis has eyes on bigger and what he considers better opportunity ahead. What this means for OC Dez Bryan? We will wait and see. The 1st year OC has made a name for himself as UTSA finishes the season with the most passing yards as JR QB Lee Winston sets a school record with with 3167 yds well finishing 17th in the nation.

Here is a recap of the bowl game.

Tied (10-10 at the half, Wake Forest would take the lead in the 3rd Quarter (17-10) and extend the lead to (24-10) with 6 minutes to play, but UTSA would battle back first scoring on a 7 yd TD run by Willie Jones to make it (24-17). Then after Freshman TJ White picks off Wake Forest QB C. Smith, White takes the INT back 55 yds before being tackled inside the 10 yd line.

Will Jones would need just 1 carry as he takes the toss to the leftside 8 yds for the score to tie the game (24-24) with 3 minutes to play. A forced punt with 1:42 to play would give UTSA the ball back with a chance to win it in regulation and that's just what they do as Senior Micah Mitchell converts a 22 yd FG with 31 seconds to play to put UTSA up by 3.

It was a remarkable season for the Senior PK. Mitchell came into the year coming off a 2029 season which saw him only convert 9/17 FG's for 46%. This was after only coverting 17/32 (44%) his first 2 seasons on campus.

With some kicking points from OC Dez Bryan, Mitchell converted 20/26 kicks this season including a 51 yd long .

FINAL SCORE UTSA-27 WAKE FOREST-24

KEY PLAYERS
QB L. Winston-19/35 181 yds 1 TD, 37 yds rushing
RB W. Jones-16 carries 109 yds 2 TD, 3 rec 25 yds
RB/WR J. Scott-5 carries 32 yds
TE T. Brown-4 rec 44 yds
FB N. Joseph-4 rec 24 yds
WR S. Ralph-3 rec 18 yds
WR J. Copper-2 rec 16 yds
WR A. Harrell-2 rec 43 yds 1 TD
WR B. Wilcox-1 rec 11 yds

Wow! Congrats on the bowl win and successful season! Really impressive to see UTSA go from 0-12 the year before to 8-5 with a bowl win the following season!

That was quite the turnaround! Hoping that Bryan can get the HC job instead of having to go elsewhere for it - I'd like to see you build UTSA into a power.

Huge win over a power five opponent to close the year! A good recruiting class should launch UTSA in to the next level of that group of 5!

Just got caught up again. Great run with the Roadrunners and nice to see Boise and Auburn not completely whizzing the bed without your guidance.

Yeah I had a couple close wins I didn't really think I probably should've/could've won. Going into the year I was thinking 3-4 wins tops, but these guy's are better then advertised. Not sure why they were 0-12 the year before unless it was just bad play calling.

Honestly I would like to stay and I might even do that despite a new HC. For some reason UTSA is considered a better job then the likes of Eastern Michigan, Nevada UL Lafayette which are the 3 schools that keep popping up with HC offers. Several bigtime OC offers came in including Georgia, Minnesota, Maryland, Texas Tech, SMU, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Fresno State and some others.

I still havn't decided what I want to do. UTSA does offer a 3 year OC extension if I want to stay for the new HC.

I Sorta did way with Power 5 or Group 5 when I reordered conferences, Wake is now in the American Conference which does still get to play for a Orange Bowl big against the CUSA Champs, so yeah it is a step up obviously from the Sun Belt or MAC who don't have a bowl tie in game and must earn a At-Large like Miami of Ohio did, but overall Wake Forest isn't a great team (81) vs my (75). I didn get lucky though, cause I feel they still deserved to win that game.

Yeah I didn't think there would be a huge drop off in Year 1, both team's are still 99 Overall, 99 Offense 99 Defense.

However after this season a lot of underclassmen leave early to go to the NFL , and so I think within 2-3 years we will see some drop off. Alabama and Georgia Tech I think will start winning the SEC gain, and Washington and Oregon seem to be ready to take over the Pac-12 North and USC is starting to become dominate in the South again.

We will see...
