UTSA definitely has to be kicking themselves for not giving you the head job. Looks like things are starting to click with San Jose State, good luck against San Diego State!

The 19 INT's and 34 Sacks have really killed his hopes of any kind of awards. Right now he is 7th in the Maxwell voting, which is the highest for a non JR/SR QB.

As soon as I saw the rosters at San Jose State, I actually thought Taylor would be my starter but his THA vs Stewarts's made it to were I didn't think I could trust him as my starter every week so I was planning on using some kind of 2 QB system where I utilized Taylor's feet more then his arm, but the injury changed all that. I already had 3* QB RJ Sanders #1 on my Preseason board and never changed it, but now I am having a hard time envisioning anyone coming in and taking Taylor's job. So Sanders could be a be a transfer candidate.

Bolen made a good choice to go to San Diego State. He has put up solid #'s there. I have a feeling this game is going to be a battle.

Thanks for checking in.

Yeah it's sad to see UTSA playing so poorly. I feel bad for leaving, but at the same time they made their choice.

I have 8 wins this year so far with SJSU but 5 of them have been in the 4th Quarter in the final 5 minutes of the game and several have been game winning FG's. Well I am happy with the 8 wins, I also know we could be easily be (5-5) as well. San Diego State has one of the highest Overall rankings of the MW team's and I am sure they remember that loss 2 years ago, so I expect them to come out firing. Honestly give myself less then a 50% chance to win this one, which is sad cause it means no chance at a MW title and no chance for Coach Bryan to take on his Alma Mater WSU in the title game, but we will see, maybe Taylor and the Comeback kids will pull off the upset.

Even if I lose, and can finish out with a win over Nevada and then win my bowl game (looking like maybe the Las Vegas Bowl or Poinsettia. I could pull off 10 wins which is a great year for any team.

Interesting is the current prediction is the Poinsettia with a rematch with UCLA which happens to be my last loss in Week 6.

SPARTANS CLINCH SPOT IN TITLE GAME!!

For a 2nd time in 3 years, the San Jose State Spartans have pulled off the upset beating San Diego State to clinch the West Division crown at home on "Senior Night".

6 future Spartans were on the sidelines as SJSU honors the 13 departing Seniors, led by WR Darryl "Huggy Bear" Huggins who had a huge night playing his final game at Spartan Stadium.

SJSU opened the game taking a (14-7) lead in the 1st Quarter as Huggins pulls in 2 TD's (7 yd and 5 yd).

SDSU would tie the game early in the 2nd Quarter as RB T Hunter scores on a 4 yd TD run after catching a 61 yd TD bomb in the 1st Quarter from QB Ray Bolden.

Bolden would then give the Aztecs the lead as he shows off his arm throwing a 86 yd bomb to M. Harris to make it (21-14) with 1:27 to play in the half.

The Spartans though would tack on a 22 yd FG by SR M. Thompson to make it (21-17)

SJSU would open up the 2nd half with the ball as SR RB Josh Alexander gets into the action with a 3 yd TD run to make it (24-21) then it was Huggy Bear Huggins nabbing his 3rd TD of the night catching a 3 yd pass from backup QB Lance Cole who would play most of the 2nd half after starter Stephen Taylor comes up limping after yet another sack. (31-28)

M. Harris would tack on a 4 yd TD run in the 4th to cut the lead to (31-28) but with less then 2 minutes to play in the game it was M. Thompson coming up big yet again drilling a 24 yd FG to give the Spartans the (34-28) LEAD.

Armed with all 3 timeouts and 1:24 to play in the game Ray Bolden led his team onto the field looking win the game or atleast force OT if the PAT was missed. Instead it was SO CB J. Stewart who comes up big with a game sealing INT..

FINAL SCORE SJSU-34 SDSU-28

KEY PLAYERS
QB S. Taylor-10/22 180 yds 2 TD 2 INT, 37 yds rushing
QB L. Cole-17/29 254 yds 1 TD 1 INT
RB J. Alexander-15 carries 74 yds 1 TD
RB N. Greene-3 carries 23 yds
WR D. Huggins-12 rec 239 yds 3 TD
TE X. Pettway-10 rec 160 yds
WR B. Hall-5 rec 35 yds
CB J. Stewart- Game winning INT

QB R. Bolden-18/29 306 yds 2 TD 1 INT
RB M. Harris-13 carries 62 yds 1 TD, 1 rec 86 yds 1 TD
RB T. Hunter-5 carries 26 yds 1 TD, 2 rec 75 yds 1 TD
WR O. Terry-9 rec 97 yds

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

JR TE Xaiver Pettway's 10 rec for 160 yds now gives him 55 rec for 912 yds on the season leaving him just 88 yds shy of 1000 on the year.

SR TE Trae Hicks already had surpassed 1000 yds (1037) on 54 rec with 14 TD before getting hurt for the remainder of the season.

SR WR D. Huggins now has 71 rec for 1360 yds and 11 TD on the year, and with 3 games left (Nevada, MW Champ, Bowl) Huggins has a great shot at breaking several Spartan receiving records.

NEXT UP

The Spartans will close out their regular season on the road against (4-7) Nevada who has lost 6 straight with their last 4 games all on the road. The Wolfpack are are (1-6) in Mountain West action, but their 1 win was over Washington State (56-30) who happened to wrap up the Mountain West Mountain division with a (45-35) win over Idaho.

**This means that Coach Dez Bryan will face his Alma Mater in the Mountain West Championship**

pretty good season but probably not enough to get past the dual threat QBs

Yeah it's pretty tough to win the Heisman as a RB or WR. I would say probably have to have over 2000 yds and 25+ TD's to make it happen.

SPARTANS CLIMB INTO TOP-25

The San Jose State Football team closed out their regular season with a win on the road over Nevada on Saturday. With the win the Spartans are now (10-2) and (8-0) in Mountain West play, having won 9 straight games since their loss to UCLA.

The 10 win season is the schools best record since going 11-2 and winning the Military Bowl back in 2012. If SJSU can pull off the win in the MW Championship game they will match that total, and a win in the Fiesta Bowl would be a new school record for the program.

With the win SJSU is now #23 in the BCS Rankings and #21 in both the Coaches and Media Poll going into Week 15..

Game Recap

Nevada jumped out to a early (17-7) lead in the 1st Quarter but a 20 yd TD pass by Stephan Taylor to Josh Alexander with 1:24 to play in the half cut the Wolfpacks lead to (20-14) at the haf.

SJSU opened up the 2nd half with a 30 yd FG by M. Thompson to cut the lead to (20-17) but Nevada would add a score with 2:10 to play in the 3rd as QB R. Reese takes it in from 3 yds out to make it (27-17) as we head to the 4th Quarter.

The Spartans however would do what they do best as both the Offense and Defense step up big in the 4th Quarter leading the comeback to get the win.

The Spartan D would create 3 turnovers all on INT to finish the day with a season high 4, including 2 by backup QB Freshman Titus Jones who had to relieve Reese late in the 4th Quarter.

All of those turnovers would lead to Taylor hooking up with Darryl "Huggy Bear" Huggins 3 times for his 2nd straight game with 3 TD's.

FINAL SCORE SAN JOSE STATE-38 NEVADA-27

KEY PLAYERS

Taylor would finish the day 14/33 for 292 yds with 5 TD's and no INT well rushing for 32 yds despite being sacked 3 times.

Huggins would would score from 13, 19 and 40 yds finishing the day with a team high 4 rec for 82 yds and 3 TD.

Alexander finished with just 7 carries for 15 yds but did manage 2 rec for 49 yds including the TD.

SR B. Hall added 2 rec for 57 yds and a score.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

JR CB Macus Hill (77 OVR) had all 4 INT's in the game, after coming into the game with just 1. His 5 INT's now leads the team..

NEXT UP

The Spartans will face Washington State in the Mountain West Championship Game in 2 weeks. The Cougars finished a perfect 6-0 in the Mountain Division and had won 5 straight games until losing in "The Apple Cup" in Week 14 to Washington (28-20).

WSU's 9 wins matches their highest total since 2015 when they went (9-4). To my knowledge this will be their first conference championship game since winning the Pac-12 title back in 2002.

WSU has a Senior QB Daniel Cantrell who is currently #3 in the Maxwell Voting, #4 in the Walter Camp Voting and #3 in the O'Brien Voting.

He is considered a lock to be a 1st Round draft pick. A 4 year starter Cantrell has thrown for 10772 yds with 110 TD and 27 INT, including 3379 and 37/6 this season.

Despite being 6'6 and 222lbs. Cantrell can run as well with 2750 yds and 30 TD in his career including 862 yds and 8 TD this season.
