Post-game interview

Local News Reporter: “Not the greatest of starts to start your head coaching career, what would you say to those who doubt your ability to lead this team?”

P.J. Fleck: “Well I would say that that game was pretty damn close. Turnovers hurt us in the end. With those 2 interceptions, I thought we could still handle the game, but that fumble recovery for a touchdown hurt morale. You could feel the mood change on our team sideline and that is something I will have to address in the locker room after this interview.”

LNR: “You mentioned pre-game that you wanted to stick to your game plan, what was your focus, and did you execute it how you intended to?”

Fleck: “Obviously not because we lost, what kind of question is that? I wanted to focus mainly on the ground game since we have a great 1-2 punch with Chance and Fields, but we kept getting into 3rd downs and it was hard to run the ball inside. We had 53 passing attempts which for me is way too much and Tubbergen did well with his completions, but we had 6 dropped passes. Those dropped passes could have easily given us first downs and 2 of them could have been easy scores.”

LNR: “What would you say was the biggest issue with tonight’s team performance?”

Fleck: “I am not a guy that openly calls out specific people, but I would say the defense as a whole. We gave up too many points and only sacked Maxwell one time. That is unacceptable. We might have to do some re-tooling on the defensive line so we can apply more pressure on the quarterback in next week’s matchup.”

LNR: “Thank you for your time.”

Fleck: “Thank you, go Broncos.”

Pre-game and Around the League: Week 2

Kalamazoo Local News Network (KLNN) conducts the pre-game interview with Coach Fleck:

KLNN: “Coach, thanks for meeting us before the game it really means a lot. Too bad we did not get a chance to interview you before last week's game, the travel for us was a little too long.”

Fleck: “Of course Rachel, love being here, and don’t worry about it.”

KLNN: “So, I must ask, how important is a win here today for our beloved Broncos?”

Fleck: "I think it is extremely important. Last week I mentioned we had to do some re-tooling and I think we did just that. We moved Kyle Lark into the backup middle linebacker from right outside linebacker spot and are now starting Devon Brant at right outside linebacker. He is much quicker and agile, so I think if someone, regardless of who they are, tries to go outside on the right side, they are going to be met quickly. We are going to try and pressure the opposing quarterback quite a bit so if that means sending 8 players, then so be it.”

Re: The Dynasty of P.J. Fleck

Really intrigued by this dynasty idea! I'm a huge fan of Fleck IRL. I've followed him ever since my Titans drafted Corey Davis in the 2017 Draft. Thought it was incredible that a Western Michigan WR was developed into a top 5 pick and due to that, I wanted to learn more about that coaching staff.

His enthusiasm and passion for what he does is amazing. I could live without the cheesy slogans, but it's clear the guy is one helluva coach lol. I hope you can replicate his success in your dynasty! I'll be following!

I totally understand what you mean! Corey Davis was a beast coming out of college and now is doing really well on the Titans. I wanted to create a storyline similar to that, such as have Coach Fleck "see potential" in a WR/RB/TE and have him work twice as hard, or something like that. I will do my best to live up to IRL P.J. Fleck the best I can, or maybe not? There has to be a story there somewhere lol. Thanks for the reply!

Post-game interview: Week 2

Kalamazoo Local News Network (KLNN) catches up with the Coach after the game:

KLNN: “Great win today Coach! How does it feel to get your first ever career win?”

Fleck: “It feels good Rachel, but wow was it a tough one to get. I honestly did not think the game would ever end because of how the Colonels were playing out there. They were making it seem like we would have to take the game to overtime.”

KLNN: “I completely understand, you had all of us Broncos fans on the edge of our seats! One more quick question for you, did the switch of Brant to starting outside linebacker help swing the win in your favor tonight?”

Fleck: "As I do not think one player tips the scale back and forth, I would have to say a few players stood out amongst the rest tonight. This is a team sport, and collectively we of course could have done better on both sides of the ball, but our defense held late game and only bent and did not break. We are still ironing out the kinks, but I think within the next few games we are going to start operating at high efficiency.”
