2008 Draft: Quarterback Shakeup
April 26, 2008

New York, NY - The first big QB news broke before the draft when the Denver Broncos traded starter Carson Palmer to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for two first-round picks and Rex Grossman. New head coach Josh McDaniels seemingly felt Palmer was not the right fit for his offense and moved moved him to a Carolina team that feels it was a quarterback away from a playoff run. Matt Ryan went first off the board as expected to the Argonauts, then the Broncos traded back in the draft, sending the 2008 1st it received from Carolina (#11) to the Giants which would take Delaware's Joe Flacco with the pick.

Re: QB Shuffle

Jackson is entering a contract year and doesn't fit our new scheme. Sending him to Jacksonville so he can team up with Peyton Manning

Lancers Lose Twice In One Day
Week 10, 2008

Oklahoma City, OK - A tough day for Lancers fans as they first watched the teams 1st-round pick, electric running back Chris Johnson, go down with a season-ending ACL injury early in the game. The fans then hung around for extra football just to see cornerback Devin Hester pick off Jay Cutler in overtime and use his return abilities to weave his way all the way into the end zone for a walk-off pick six. The Lancers will need to rebound and rally around its young running backs for the remainder of the season as the team holds a narrow divisional lead at just 5-4 on the year.

CAR 37 - 31 OKC (OT)
QB Carson Palmer - 38/52 378 YDS 3 TD 1 INT

Lancers Losing Streak His Six
Week 15, 2008

Miami, FL - The Oklahoma City Lancers entered its bye at 5-3, first in the AFC West, and looking well on its way to possibly winning another divisional title before proceeding to rattle off six-straight losses. Jay Cutler, during the losing stretch, has struggle immensely at times and has been benched in several of the blowout losses. This past Sunday, Cutler was benched once more but this time with the game still in reach. Backup Brad Smith entered the game and nearly led a comeback in the 4th after first rushing for a touchdown then getting the Lancers in field goal range in the final seconds of game. Janikowski would miss the game-tying attempt but overall it was a strong effort from Smith. Smith may not be the better passer, but what he can do with his legs makes up for what he lacks in arm talent. With two games to play, and the Lancers out of the playoffs, it will be interesting to see if Smith has earned more playing time in the lost season, and what Cutler's setback means for his job security in OKC.

MIA 24 - 21 OKC
CB James Butler - 2 TAK 1 INT 1 TD
