After an offseason break that lasted longer than I expected, the Kansas Jayhawks are going to start their 1992 season today at Oregon State.

Before every game day I will introduce one position group starting with quarterbacks today.

I hope that at least one of my two QBs with experience will make a step forward this season.

Goal number 1 this season: avoid interceptions!

Pregame:

Oregon State have played a decent 1991 season finishing with a 7-5 record and losing their Bowl game.


The Jayhawks are playing a tougher schedule than last season and therefore a 6-6 record is an ambitious goal. Let's get going!

What a performance by our D!

First Beaver's drive after the Jayhawks had scored a FG - Pick 6! We hold them to negative yards up until 2 minutes before HT when Oregon State's Chance Nolan managed to throw his first completion of the game.

Only thanks to a solid performance by the Beaver's pass defense they were able to prevent a bigger blow out.

Let's take a look at our running back room.

Locklin is the number two running back in the depth chart. Neal is the PR/KR.

The 2013 stats weren't amazing, but still solid.

BYU (OVR 88/OFF 93/DEF 83, 4 stars) @ Kansas Jayhawks

BYU will start their season in Lawrence after a very successful 1991 campaign, registering a 11-3 record, a WAC-Championship and a Las Vegas Bowl win.


When we will be able to stop their high power offence, we will have a chance to get our second win of the season.

Convincing win again - Kansas now 10 quarters without allowing an opponent's touchdown.
Cougars are demoralized in 27-6 whipping by Kansas.

QB Jalon Daniels performed really well. He is able to get out of the pocket when being under pressure and unlike last season he didn't yet have a bad throw way off target. Both interceptions this season were actually my fault.

Ball State @ Kansas 24-31

Ball State took a quick 10 nothing lead after a FG on their first drive and a defensive TD, when they picked up a fumble in their own half. Kansas answered with their best offensive performance so far this season.

But even a 31-10 lead by the end of the 3rd quarter did not mean the ball game for the Jayhawks. Another fumble lost leading to an instant red zone possession for the Cardinals and an interception in FG range on a 3&6 play with 90 seconds on the clock and being only one TD ahead raised some eyebrows at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.


Next week Kansas starts conference play hosting their rival Missouri.
