Re: Birds in the Trap -- A Louisville Cardinals CFRevamped Dynasty
Sources: Scott Satterfield likely to relieve OC Gunter Brewer of OC duties at season's end Courier-Journal Louisville, KY – After two big losses in ACC play, all personnel involved with Louisville's current football team are under the microscope. After picking up a big win on the road against then top 5 team North Carolina, the Cardinals were catapulted into the top-25, where they enjoyed a short period of occupancy in the rankings. Following being ranked, the Cardinals narrowly escaped an upset against the Duke Blue Devils, and then suffered upsets against both Virginia and Syracuse. After these two losses, the Cardinals have fallen out of the top-25 and will have their work cut out for them if they wish to regain such status. Louisville has kept a core group of staff members for the last two seasons, retaining their Head Coach Scott Satterfield, Defensive Coordinator Bryan Brown, and Offensive Coordinator Gunter Brewer. When Satterfield hired his coordinators, many questioned Bryan Brown's inexperience while praising the addition of Gunter Brewer to the staff. Up until this point through the last two seasons, both coordinators are due their fair share of scrunity. Brown's Louisville defense is one of the most threatening in the country when it comes to forcing turnovers. The Cardinals enjoyed several extra possessions throughout the last few seasons thanks to the countless interceptions recorded by their defense through the last two seasons under Brown. However, Brown's overly-aggressive play-calling tendencies, lack of experience, and the inconsistency of his defense has led the Cardinals to being one of the most scored on defenses in the country for the last two seasons. Despite this, most Louisville insiders seem to believe Brown is operating in a much safer territory than is offensive counterpart. Gunter Brewer took the reigns of Offensive Coordinator for the Cardinals last season and has been met with many challenges. The Receiver position is at it's weakest it's been in many years for the Cardinals and there is a glaring lack of depth on the offensive line. In the first few games coaching the Cardinals on offense, the star QB Malik Cunningham goes down with an injury that effectively ends his college career, leaving Brewer scrambling to get an underweight inexperienced play-caller named Evan Conley ready to put together a few wins for a struggling Cardinals team. Despite these road-blocks, QB Evan Conley has competed for the crown amongst the top Quarterbacks in total yardage the last two seasons (despite starting the season as the backup). Senior TE Marshon Ford is likely a 1st team ACC All-American and HB Jalen Mitchell seems to get better and more prolific with every snap. Nevertheless, the Cardinals remain as one of the most undisciplined teams when it comes to retaining the ball with QB Evan Conley averaging more than almost two interceptions a game as a starter under Brewer's coaching. The Cardinals have lost big games through questionable play-calling on the offensive end of the ball. The masses were calling for change awhile ago, and insiders say that Louisville Athletic Director Vince Tyra and Head Coach Scott Satterfield are facing pressure from team boosters to make the change. Some believe Satterfield is already getting the ball rolling on these demands. Insiders believe that Satterfield would like to retain Brewer to Louisville's coaching staff as a wide receivers coach while replacing him as the offensive coordinator. Almost every off-season, one-of-the Brohm's names' get thrown into the hat for a position on Louisville's coaching staff. Jeff Brohm would have likely already left the Boilermakers in the dust if he had any interest in coaching at Louisville. His brother, Purdue's Offensive Coordinator, Brian Brohm, has yet to clearly indicate where his interest lies with regards to his alma mater. Brian Brohm is a former Heisman canidaite who many viewed as the best Quarterback in Louisville history until Teddy Bridgewater and Lamar Jackson came to town. Unlike those aforementioned Louisville stars, Brohm was Louisville born and bred. Like his brother Jeff, Brian played his home games minutes away from Cardinal Stadium. Because of Brian's performances at Louisville, the names Louisville and Brohm will forever be connected. It's hard to think of a Louisville fan that would be against the addition of Brian Brohm to Louisville's coaching staff, the question is, does Brian want it?******** src="moz-extension://e7fe6461-a726-407b-8383-ca87721deb14/js/app.js" type="text/javascript"> Last edited by Tarus; 03-15-2022 at 10:49 AM. |

Re: Birds in the Trap -- A Louisville Cardinals CFRevamped Dynasty
Satterfield Struggles in Battles with New Kentucky HC Jeff Traylor for KY Recruits Courier-Journal Louisville, KY – The Kentucky Wildcats' new Head Coach Jeff Traylor has gotten off to a great start in terms of coming out fast in his new job's interstate rivalry. His Wildcats completely stunned the Cardinals, dominating in Louisville on both sides of the ball. This would give the their first loss of the season, but Traylor continues to tally on the losses for Scott Satterfield in the recruiting department. This recruiting season is key for Satterfield to add talent to help elevate his current roster to the top of the ACC. Satterfield has been very open with his goal to recruit the top players from Kentucky, which were reflected in who the top targets were so far this season. Unfortunately, Traylor seems to be having an better time attracting in-state recruits to his Wildcats. Kentucky's top ranked player and the nation's top ranked CB, Greg Clark, was originally committed to the Louisville Cardinals. Clark committed to the Louisville Cardinals as a Freshman and de-committed following a new wave a interest after climbing the national rankings as a junior. After fielding interest from Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Missouri, Clark seemed poised to recommit to the Cardinals and sign a LOI, but following an official visit to the University of Kentucky, Clark quickly committed to Traylor's Wildcats. Losing the top ranked player in the state, who was previously committed to you, has to sting for Satterfield. Kentucky also received a commitment from Ohio's C Reggie Hunt, another player who many believed was going to commit to the Cardinals. Many view Clark and Hunt as key targets for Satterfield, not seeing them in a Cardinal uniform is undoubtedly a letdown. Seeing them in a Wildcat uniform is a failure. Kentucky currently holds the #7 rated recruiting class in the nation while the Louisville Cardinals boast a lackluster #77. Kentucky already has 9 commitments, three being 4-star recruits. After the thrashing they took on the field this last season, the Cardinals undoubtedly will come out looking for vengeance in their next meeting in Lexington. If the recruiting picture at the end of the season is similar to what we're presented now, the Cardinals may find themselves outmatched more times than not when the time comes to meet their interstate rivals. |
