That's what I figured. Maybe I'll try swapping Ike/Duda and Colon/Gee out for an MLB ready SS. Colon is leading the NL with a 2.03 era through the beginning of June, so even though he was just signed I could see the Mets moving him to a contender to capitalize on his value. Then I could use that SS in the deal above.
I'm thinking maybe to Seattle for Franklin or Arizona for Gregorius?
Here's another thought. Just spitballing here but what about adding in like a Beckham or Yunel to a David Price deal (Id add Cecchini or someone comparable) and then send that guy to Baltimore?

well first off, is Baltimore anywhere out of it in your chise? and I'd like to assume if so, Markakis and Chen are performing well? as for Ike or Duda, they'd really have to be outperforming Justin Smoak and/or Corey Hart for either of them to make sense in Seattle and I don't know how much ...with Goldy locked up in the desert, neither Ike or Duda (unless you move him back to LF) would make much sense there....Yunel just signed a cheap mid-extension for Tampa and Beckham's value isn't anywhere as it was
They're slowly slipping down the standings. Right now they're 8 back. I wouldn't be making these moves until near the deadline so if they're in competition I wouldn't be making the trade for Markakis most likely (granted he's only at .219 with 1 hr and 11 RBI in beginning of June).

You guys are way undervaluing Zobrist. Only player I'd take over Zobrist there is Davis. Abreu is unrealistic but I'd give Craig+ for Zobrist and Napoli is WAY less valuable than Zobrist."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah with Zobrist you get a solid #2 hitter that can play any position except catcher. I undersold him a bit going for Wilin Rosario and a couple prospects, but Zobrist was in his contract year and I now have my catcher for the future.Comment

Maybe Stilson or De Jong? If that's too high, someone like Deck McGuire.
I know you're not all that high on Sanchez, and you know the Jays system far better than I do. I'd say something like a low B/high-ish C if those guys don't work. Just throwing out names.Comment

Just curious, what's the deal with Sanchez? Is there an injury history there, or do you just not like his stuff as much as everyone else? I think I read somewhere about a rework in his delivery, which could be a problem.Comment

Aaron Sanchez straight up plus more from the Royals realistically. He still is a top prospect. I don't see why you hate him so much. To me, he's a great prospect who has #2 potential. I've just always liked him though.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

I feel I got a pretty good value for him. I got Rosario, Alfonso Cabrera (SP age: 20 overall: 55 potential: B) and James Dickens (2B/SS age: 18 overall: 58 potential: C, but really only needs to work on his hitting and speed, fielding is start quality. Also I traded the Rays starting catcher Ryan Hanigan for Marlon Byrd, who rounds out my defense and gives me a solid option against lefties, and opens up room to trade DeJesus for someone like Juan Cabrera, Yangervis Solarte, Trevor Plouffe, Leonardo Fuentes, or Trent Keenan. Who do you guys like out of that last bunch the best and why, looking for a low end starting 2B with a couple other positions.Comment

Guys with no control who rely on inducing weak contacts to suppress their BABIP - and, in turn, ERA - in the minors have a history of suckage, one would think."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

There are a bunch of examples of a player signing a one year deal and getting dealt if the team is out of contention. It's a risk-reward type signing.
Also realism was thrown out the door after the Marlins signed those free agents and traded them after year 1. Anything can happen mateComment
