Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Looking to trade Dillon Gee. Team that popped into my head was the Rockies as they're tied for first in their division here in June.
Gee is 2-5, 64 ip, 50 ks, 4.75 era
I'm not expecting a huge return, but was thinking maybe for Story or Herrera? I could also add Farnsworth or Parnell to give them more bullpen depth. Both are having great seasons:
Farnsworth - 2-1, 34 ip in 30 appearances, 26 ks, 1.85 era
Parnell - 12 ip, 14 ks, 8 saves, 1 blown save, 2.25 era
Obviously I'd prefer to keep Parnell since he's been a reliable closer and I tend to pitch well with him. Farnsworth I could care less about though if he helps the deal. The Rockies do have a pretty weak bullpen so I'd think he has atleast a little value to them.

Switch him back to 3b and maybe look into the Dodgers or Yankees? Not extremely deep farms, but both are big payroll teams that could use a 3b.
Or possibly the Mariners to give Cano some help in the lineup. To the Mariners obviously leave him as an outfielder since that is their big weakness.

Story is what I was thinking. They actually don't even want Farnsworth. Looks like they will take Gee for Story straight up, but when I add Farns they decline lol.

Teams with lower rated catchers where who I were mainly looking at. Mets, Reds, Padres and White Sox were at the low end, St. Louis has Molina but no backup other than a 60. Suzuki is at 76 I believe. Nats do have a weak catchers but they're young.PSN: OverPar8Comment

the Cards do have surplus SP depth so maybe Suzuki + a small piece for Jaime Garcia?Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Agreed. But I think Parnell could command more than Story, even more so considering Hawkins is struggling for them this year with a near 5.0 era.
What do you think a package of Gee and Parnell would be able to get me? Id like it to center around either Rutledge, Story or Herrera. You tell me what you think is most fair/realistic (with realism as the priority).
EDIT: Also, do you think Gee for Story or Rutledge straight up would be an option? I only say Rutledge bc LeMahieu is hitting .348 on the year, granted its only 96 abs

Those are really their only prospects I like. I do like Dahl, but he's out of reach in this scenario.
I edited my previous post. Do you think Gee for Story or Rutledge straight up would work? Neither of those guys is playing well, both with BA under .250, plus LeMahieu is hitting .348 in 90ish at bats.

The Cardinals wouldn't trade Jaime for a backup catcher who won't play most of the season. If you want pitching depth from St. Louis try Tyler Lyons or maybe Tim Cooney. Both are lefties like Jaime.Comment
