Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm trying to grab a utility guy and I've narrowed it down to Rutledge or Alex Castellanos. Which route do you guys think is most realistic?
Send Happ to the Rockies for Rutledge; play Rutledge at 3B, SS, 2B, OF
Send Rogers to the Padres for Castellanos; play Cast at OF, 3B, 2B"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
You can play a profile with cpu trades on just during the month of July to help cut back on the volume of cpu ridiculousness but this still gives them the ability to make some deadline deals. And then just veto any that are ridiculous. This will allow you to not waste time overseeing deals in APR-JUN.
A common cpu deal I've been seeing is an April deal of Javier Baez for Tyler Clippard, lol. Guess the Cubs were fed up with Javy's slump...............

Both are solid options. Rutledge is probably the better player. Cast has more versatility. Its really personal preference since both deals are fairComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
What do I (Yankees) have to give up for Murphy (Mets)? I'm in game but will post stat line in a bit.
I was playing with trades and they seem to want my SP's and RP's who are relatively young. I'm guess I will have to deal in two trades.
This probably won't be an immediate trade, I don't do 30 team and want to check next month to see if some other players I targeted if their teams are more willing to give them up.
Thanks.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Here is a nice list of players who could be moving at the trade deadline. Take a look at these and see if you want to move any of them.
Masterson, Alex Gordon, Gardner, Eithier, Crawford, Kemp, Headley, Josh Johnson, Price, Samardzija, Chris Carter, Sandoval, Pence, Granderson, Hamels, Papelbon, Lee, (maybe Rollins/Howard), Street, Aramis Ramirez, Jim Henderson, maybe Braun, Francisco Liriano, Aaron Hill, Alexi Ramirez, and under certain circumstances maybe even CarGo.
As far as Samardzija and Price go, here are two options.
Samardzija for Sanchez + Hutchison
I can't come up with an option for Price. I don't think the Rangers have the pieces for him. If I HAD to come up with one, this is it.
Price for Sardinas, Odor, Choice, Martin Perez, Leonys Martin and Luke Jackson.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Anyone in contention that has a big budget. Think Rangers, Angels, Red Sox, Yankees. I would say Dodgers but unless Ryu and Greinke are hurt or something then they are a no go.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah I actually already sent Cliff Lee to the Dodgers (Which I hope was realistic) so I don't think they'd want Price. I'll continue to look at the Rangers and keep your proposed deal in mind. I'll also check out the Angels I suppose, although I'm not sure they have enough to make the deal. Thanks for the help!Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I would call Baez up in the time frame mentioned and give him starts at SS, 2B, and 3B, and see where he fits best, and go from there.
If you like him at SS (and he plays well), then I would think about dealing Castro. The haul from Castro should be pretty big. If you like him at 3B, then maybe think about shifting Bryant to a corner outfield spot. If you like him at 2B, then nothing too drastic changes, outside of having a quality MIF backup in Alcantara.
How good is Alcantara playing? You could always call him up at the same time, and see how he plays at 2B. Him playing well, could raise the purpose to deal Castro.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Just downloaded the new hybrid rosters and started a franchise with the Astros. I simmed it to today's date, and Surprisingly we are 28-30. 8.5 games behind Oakland in the AL west but only 1 GB in the wild card. I know the season is still young but I want a chance to catch up to Oakland. Browsing the trade block I noticed ATL placed Alex Wood on there, he is 4-5 with a 2.92 ERA, and I happen to be a team listed as interested. ATL is 30-27, 1.5 GB in the NL East and 3.0 GB in the wildcard. ATL is looking for RP, CP, 1B, 3B, and CF. I'm looking to offer CP Josh Fields (B pot), CF Delino Deshields Jr. (B pot), and Travis Ballew (C pot) for Wood. What do you guys think?Miami Heat
Miami Marlins
Miami Dolphins
Florida Panthers
Miami Hurricanes

ATL could use DeShields to play some 2nd and platoon with La Stella. They could also use him in the OF if they ever decide to cut bait on B.J. Upton.
DeShields + Ballew for Wood would be ok.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
