Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys.. at the deadline with the Cubs here. I''m looking to move any of the following guys. What are some potential targets I could get for
Nate Schierholtz: .276/.318/.487 15 HRs 45 RBIs
Justin Ruggiano: .294/.366/.509 12 HRs 48 RBIs
Luis Valbuena: .347/.402/.574 6 HRs 19 RBIs
James Russell: 0-1 2.48 ERA
Wesley Wright: 1-2 2.38 ERA
Jose Veras: 3-1 4.18 ERA 25 saves
Teams in contention are:
Cardinals, Brewers, Reds, Giants, D-Backs, Dodgers, Nationals, Braves, Rangers, Tigers, Royals, Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox, and Rays
Also, what would the Cubs need to do to get Allen Craig? I've always played well with him in the game and would like having him.
Allen Craig: .300/.365/.439 10 HRs 40 RBIsComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Looking to make some moves in my 30 team chise in July. Three big name pitchers I'd like to move:
SP Cliff Lee (PHI) 4-4, 4.46 ERA
SP James Shields (KC) 9-6, 3.36 ERA
SP Jeff Samardzija (CHI) 3-7, 3.98 ERA
Three teams I think would compete for these guys: LAD, TOR, BAL. Anyone have an idea if one pitcher is a better fit than another for a particular team? Or a different team you guys think would be even more realistic? I'll start putting together trades soon.
My initial thought is that LAD would land Lee, having more budget to handle his contract, TOR lands Shields- really going after a win now mentality after bringing in Reyes, Melky, etc., with BAL landing Shark- as a counter to TOR. BAL and TOR are battling for 1st in the division with no other real competitors at the moment.
Thanks.Last edited by stlcards234; 06-01-2014, 10:04 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Browsing the trade block I noticed ATL placed Alex Wood on there, he is 4-5 with a 2.92 ERA, and I happen to be a team listed as interested. ATL is 30-27, 1.5 GB in the NL East and 3.0 GB in the wildcard. ATL is looking for RP, CP, 1B, 3B, and CF. I'm looking to offer CP Josh Fields (B pot), CF Delino Deshields Jr. (B pot), and Travis Ballew (C pot) for Wood. What do you guys think?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As a Braves fan I wouldn't take this. Their pen is pretty strong, and as long as Krimbrel is in town, there's no need to add any more closer's. Not sure the Braves are the best fit as: 1) Their in contention, which usually means you trade for someone who will help right away, not prospects. 2) Alex Wood is pitching pretty well in your 'chise, he's young, and he's a LHP that the Braves really need to stay balanced. 3) DeShields still needs some time to develop his hitting and fielding/reaction. I would take DeShields straight up for Wood in a year or two, but not when they have log jams in Upton, Uggla, and Simmons.
I know I'm just chipping in here, but I don't think Uggla qualifies as a log jam.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
The Braves are still holding out for the 30+ HR 90+ RBI guy they thought they signed. I believe they would keep DeShields in the minors for awhile as they could trade Uggla next season as an expiring contract, and as of now Pena, Pastornicky and LaStella have better bats (according to my rosters).Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
so, i do the 30 team control and the teams i dont use are determined to make trades that i have to edit for fairness. i was just wanting to see if what i made happen seems reasonable fairness wise.
the reds and rays made this trade 3 times after i kept on missing it by not looking at pending trades
reds give up neftali soto
rays give up hellickson, guerreri, and riefenhauser.
ridiculous i think. so i modified it to
reds give up soto, stephenson, and winker
rays give up hellickson, guerreri, and riefenhauser
obviously the rays wanted soto, and the reds i am not sure what they are looking to do rebuild or compete.Comment

The Dodgers would never, ever do this deal. Bartolo and Mejia don't improve them at all and they already have an over the hill average starter in Haren.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm the midst of a Phillies teardown, any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated. As hard as it is to admit the current roster stinks (thanks Rube!), rebuilding should be fun. I'm going for ultra realism here so no dumping Howard (as much as I'd like too), no trading Rollins(no-trade clause) and Utley is staying put.
A few trades I've already completed..
Burnett to the Angels for Chevy Clarke & Hank Conger.
Cesar Hernandez to St Louis for Borjous. They're loaded in Cf and needed middle infield depth.
Defratus to the Cubs for Brett Jackson.
Adams to the Dodgers for J. Martinez (62 ovr C pot).
In addition to the above I'd like to move Lee to Toronto for a package centered around Marcus Stroman. What would be a fair return?
It's late July. I'm 15 back of the Nationals. Jays are 52-45,4.5 back of the Red Sox.Comment
