Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

    Hi guys,

    OSFM 2.0

So I'm about 6 games into a Mariners franchise. I jave way way way too many lefty bats snd eant to make a deal for an impact righty.

    Guys on my block are:
    Ackley
    Bloomquist
    Morrison
    Saunders
    Perhaps Seager

Is there any sort of deal where a team might want to swap a bat or a two for 1? I just want to better balance this lineup. I hardly ever make a trade this early, but this is goofy.

I just started my Brave's Franchise. First time I have ever been a team besides the Red Sox.

5 or so games in and Heyward is just not cutting the mustard.

What deals do you think I could get for him. In a perfect world I'd package him with Uggla and trade for a OF and 2B.

What possible deals should I go for?

I'd recommend you play more than 5 games with him. He is a 5 tool player and one of the Braves big pieces for the future along with Freeman and Kimbrel

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

July 2nd in my Cubs franchise. If you were 43-41 and 0.5GB on the Cardinals would you start buying if you were the Cubs or still sell because you're the Cubs and will inevitably blow any chances you had?

If I sell some movable pieces would be:

          Jeff Samardzija: 7-6 2.36 ERA
          Jason Hammel: 4-9 3.63 ERA
          Jose Veras: 1-0 2.20 ERA 21 SVs

I'd really like to get some pitching in return and possibly a good catching prospect. Any thoughts?

          Contenders are:
          The whole NL Central
          Dodgers & D-Backs
          Braves & Nationals
          A's, Angles & Mariners
          Tigers, Royals, Indians
          Blue Jays, Rays, Orioles

I'd also like to trade Darwin Barney for the sack of potatoes mentioned a couple pages back.

          Thanks guys.

I'd wait until the ASB or the week afterwards and see where you stand. Again you play to win so selling while having a chance to make the postseason would be almost non-existent irl. Imagine the Cubs being a half game out this year and trading Samardzija in late July. Chicago would burn ha.

Say you begin to fall out in late July 21st and on I would consider selling but not like a fire sale. Maybe trading pieces you won't resign for pieces that can help you win that might be under control for the future. Yanks aren't listed on your contenders so maybe look at guys like Nova, Kuroda (while not realistic I think he wouldn't oppose a move to a playoff team since he will retire at the end of the season anyways) to help your pitching. Rangers as well, some of their veteran pitchers to help that pitching staff. Giants with Vogelsong & Hudson (not realistic but again I'd target him). Also Cain for the right package, if you plan on going all out for a title. Hamels from Philly or Lee, same as Cain.

Also hitters Pagan from San Fran, maybe Sori makes a comeback for October. Venable from the Padres, Kemp from LA. Other OF's as well. Again it all depends if you want to win now, like this year. You can make smaller moves or trade some of the farm for guys who can potentially get you to October and further.

Well you are obviously playing well and have no need to ship off players really. I would go more into a trade MLB talent for MLB ready "prospects". So Hammel, Shark, Barney, and Veras I would trade them all.

-Hammel to O's, Jays, Angels, Mariners, and Giants I could see.
-Shark to the names above as well.
-Veras is a good fit to anyone of them in need of bullpen help at his rate.
-Barney well maybe the Jays would like his D if Lawrie is at 3B? He is no help on the stick side.

If you need some help working out potential deals I can probably whip some up when I get home

Morales is always an option as a switch hitter
Hmm, any position of exact want here? I mean Denorfia from the Padres could be a solid get, Hairston from the Nats, maybe even Aramis Ramirez from the Brewers for Seager (think value matches there, may add a P from their side), probably some other options I am blanking on.

Thanks to Matty down below, Willingham interest you? Only would cost you a C and maybe Bloomquist if you want to get rid of him.

Basically this, do you want to go all in or keep tooling and go for a bigger and possibly more successful run? Shark I believe is a FA at years end, as is Hammels so really have to think in this situation.

Bard, what about Willingham to the Red Sox? Heard it mentioned on a local sports talk station... What do you think Boston gives up for him?

Not a bad power bat, could be a solid get for Fenway when healthy.

Is Britton a high C in your chise? If so, I would send him on over to Minny for Josh...pretty solid RP that could start that is MLB ready.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Yea I play pretty quickly (play 1 out of every 10 games) and am now 51-56 & 7GB and 6GB in the wild card.

Samardzija is now 10-7 2.70 ERA

Ive come up with the Royals, Mariners, Pirates, Jays, Angels and Rays as the most likely landing spots for Samardzija. I have some deals in mind for some of the teams but not the Angels or Rays because I'm not too familiar with their rosters.

                      Mariners:
Mariners get: Jeff Samardzija, Dan Vogelbach, Jorge Soler, James Russel
Cubs get: Taijuan Walker + Victor Sanchez
                      or
                      Mariners get: Jeff Samardzija
Cubs get: James Paxton, Edwin Diaz, Victor Sanchez, Luis Gohara, Tyler Marlette

                      Royals:
                      Royals get: Jeff Samardzija
Cubs Get: Miguel Almonte, Jorge Bonifacio, Jason Adam, Christian Binford
                      or
Royals get: Jeff Samardzija + Dan Vogelbach
Cubs get: Kyle Zimmer + Sam Selman

                      Pirates:
                      Pirates get: Jeff Samardzija
Cubs get: Tyler Glasnow/Nick Kingham, Josh Bell, Clay Holmes
                      or
Pirates get: Jeff Samardzija, Nate Schierholtz, James Russel
Cubs get: Tyler Glasnow, Nick Kingham, Josh Bell

                      Jays:
                      Jays get: Jeff Samardzija
Cubs get: Aaron Sanchez, Sean Nolin, Chase DeJong
                      or
                      Jays get: Jeff Samardzija
Cubs get: Sean Nolin, Chase DeJong, Daniel Norris, Alberto Tirado, John Stilson

Do any of these look realistic and good? Or are there better ones with the Rays or Angels?

Britton is actually a 68, the top D potential listed... seems low...

My C's are Doubront who is in my rotation and I'd like to keep.
                        Villarreal who's in AAA he's a 75 Overall high C
                        Pat Light 23 y/o 56OV
De La Rosa who is in AAA right now but was 1-1 with a 6.55 ERA with Boston to start the year.
I'd love to move Chris Capuano, he's a 78 OV on my set, 0-0 in 11.1IN, 7.94 ERA 3BB 13K 5HR. I think I'd have to send someone with him though, Willinghams making 1.1M, Capuano is 3M.

I would take the hit and release Cap, nobody is going to want him. Bryan for Willingham sounds alright, hard thrower In mid twenties for a sometimes healthy power bat. Rosa and Britton being D's and C's in your chise makes me sad haha.

I forget which one i'm using, but Britton is a C and Rosa is a B haha. Oh well, maybe they both dropped in yours due to struggling? Bryan for Willingham should be fine though.

For everyone wanting to trade Heyward, at least give it a year. By 2015 he will be your best OF (unless you somehow get a superstar). If your looking to get some more solid players, look into trading some SPs and RPs. His power will surprise you against lefties if your good at pull hitting. He's also their best base runner and lead off hitter IMO. He offers way more than you will get back in a trade for him.
