Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
On #1, would replacing Harvey for Stephen Tarpley be alright?
On #2, would adding Roberto Osuna finish the deal, or is it too much?
On #3, I added Nick Williams. Is that enough?
Just trying to find a way to make things work...
By the way, here are the teams in contention:
Red Sox
Rays
Athletics
Angels
Phillies
Braves
Pirates
DodgersWolverines vs. The World || DavidTheGreat's Michigan Wolverines (NCAA14)
Season 1: 11-2 (Won Rose Bowl vs. Arizona)
Season 2: 0-0

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
So I'm at the end of May in year 2 and I have too many prospects and I wanna deal some for players that can help me contend this year.
Here are some trades, tell me what you think.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shelby Miller for Hedges (can change his position since his defensive stats are off the charts) + Fried (High B)/Tyson Ross (High B), Barbato RP (Low B).
Hosmer for Hedges, can move to first base (Low A) + Fried (High B) + Barbato (Low B)/Joe Ross (Low B).
Jay Bruce for Hedges (Low A) + Fried (High B) + Liriano (High B).
Cosart for Casey Kelly (Mid B) Jesse Hahn (Mid B) + Barbato (Low B).
Some insight on the teams/players.
Miller has a 5.23 ERA and has 45/18 K:BB in 52 Innings. He also only signed a one year deal. The Cards are 2 games back in their division.
Hosmer is batting .243, has a .316 OBP and a .543 SLG%. The Royals are 6 games back in the division and Hosmer has a 1 year deal.
Bruce is batting .291 with a .349 OBP and a .506 SLG%. The Reds are 11 games back in the division.
Cosart has a .289 ERA with 42/25 K:BB in 62 Innings. The Astros, as expected are dead last in the division.Last edited by Friar Fanatic; 06-09-2014, 05:57 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Please, don't bump your posts. I know you want to get some help, but it wasn't buried in the thread.. it was like 5 posts ago. Someone would have got back to you.
For the second trade, Osuna is more than too much. Stilson or Nolin would work better.
From Texas, you can get back either Odor/Sardinas + Williams + MartinezComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Friar, I think Hosmer is probably your best bet if you're looking for realism. Hedges + Barbados + Ross should work. I wouldn't give up Fried in that deal. An A + 2 Low B's is plenty for Hosmer who isn't hitting well.
All of them look fair though, but I just don't see those other guys moving. I don't know why Miller only has a one year deal, he's under team control IRL until at least 2019. Even if he's struggling, I don't think he moves. If you've running 30 team control, you can see that he signs with the Cards again this offseason. That is, again, if you're looking for realism.Comment

I was just trying to give up a fair amount. I don't feel right with Ross + Barbato so I'll change Ross to Kelly so it's more fair for them.
I don't mind giving up Fried since I have too many young SPs as is and my rotation is full.
Got any other ideas of players to target? I have more than enough prospects to ship off.
Low A, 3 High Bs, 5 Mid Bs, 3 Low Bs all willing to be traded.
I am looking for strong talent for this year and the future. Not someone who is 33Last edited by Friar Fanatic; 06-09-2014, 06:43 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
As painful as it is to watch this team irl, it sure has been fun dismantling their aging roster.
I plan to flip Jimmy Rollins to the Tigers as they kinda need a SS and are very much in contention in late July. The spreadsheet says he's worth a low B. Is RF S. Moya
too much to ask for in return?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
At the end of April in my Twins chise and not surprisingly I'm in the AL Central cellar. It's all part of the plan...
Looking through my org, I noticed that LHP Scott Diamond (mid C + low C) is mowing 'em down at AAA Rochester with a 2.43 ERA, solid DIPS, and good peripherals. My plan is to move Kevin Correia, who's been flat awful, into long relief and promote Scott Diamond to get some MLB stats. Also, I want to get Lewis Thorpe into AA ball so he can start accumulating starts, so I'll need to open a SP spot somewhere in the minors...you get the idea...
Long story short, if Diamond does well at the MLB level for a month or so, I plan on dealing him to a contender that is needy in SPs. Both the Phillies and Rockies fit this description at this point.
Some pieces I'd be interested in getting in a potential Scott Diamond deal...
Tom Murphy, C (COL)
Christhian Adames, INF (COL)
Chad Bettis, P (COL)
Tyler Matzek, P (COL)
Aaron Altherr, OF (PHI)
Phillippe Aumont, P (PHI)
Cesar Hernandez, INF (PHI)
Mario Hollands, P (PHI)
Tommy Joseph, C (PHI)
Brody Colvin, P (PHI)
All of those guys above are in the low C to high C range although Colvin isn't on the sheet. I'd probably add in one of Pedro Florimon/Eduardo Escobar to give Eddie Rosario a spot when he's reinstated.
Any of the names above seem like a bad fit for fairness/realism? Any of these guys especially movable?Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 06-09-2014, 07:32 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks! I don't have 30 team control but I assume he will sign again.

Those guys are: Yeonis Cespedes, Jason Heyward, Rick Porcello, Brett Anderson, Mat Latos, Justin Upton, Austin Jackson, Kris Medlen.
I could see the A's trading Cespedes if they don't think they can resign him + they're not contending. Hedges + a mid B pitching prospect should work there.
Not exactly sure what positions you need, but since you wanted SP, 1B and OF in your last post I'm going to assume that's it. I also don't know who you have, so no idea what's an upgrade, lol. Here's some more options, and I'm trying to keep it as young as I can.
1B: Brandon Belt, Justin Smoak, Chris Carter, Darin Ruf, Matt Adams
OF: Colby Rasmus, Dayan Viciedo, Adam Eaton, Michael Brantley, Josh Reddick, Dustin Ackley, Leonys Martin, Domonic Brown, Khris Davis, Carlos Gomez, Jose Tabata, Peter Bourjos
SP: Alex Cobb, Jeremy Hellickson, Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray, A.J. Griffin, Mike Minor, Tony Cingrani
Some of those guys might require a slight overpay. It's tough to land younger impact players because teams value them so highly, plus I have no idea who's contending, playing poorly, progressed greatly, etc in your franchise. Hopefully this helps a little though.Comment

Agree here for the most part. Okay with the first trade, could maybe get another C prospect. The trade would be Gausman + 2 C's. Try something like T.J. McFarland or Christian Walker.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Out of contention in my Marlins year 1 'chise.
Rays lost Jose Molina for the year and could use Salty, and Im think I need some top prospects up the middle on my farm. Not a fan of what the Rays offer there, so could this 3 way trade be realistic:
Rays Get
Salty
Padres Get
Taylor Guerrieri + Low C prospects
Marlins Get
SS Jace Peterson + Low prospectsComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
You're in the 2015 season, correct? The 2015 free agent class doesn't look to be anything spectacular (at least the list I'm looking at) but there a lot of quality guys who will hit the market in 2016. They should have one year left in your franchise, so some could be likely to move.
