Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Trying to get younger and shed some contracts with the Phillies. I've been following the spreadsheet values and trying to keep things as realistic as possible. One big problem that I am finding is, much like with the real-life club, this process isn't going to be easy. Outside of Cliff Lee (and Utley who I am not making available) the Phillies really don't have much of value to swap for prospects.
Here are the deals that I have made so far:
Lee to Toronto for Stroman, Mitch Nay & low B prospect
Kendrick to LAA for Conger
Defratus to the Cubs for Brett Jackson
Cesar Hernandez to Stl for P. Borjous (They are loaded with outfield talent and he was riding the pine with a .225 avg.)
Bastardo to Cleveland for Moncrief and a B rated catching prospect
Outside of Stroman and maybe Borjous I'm having trouble securing players that will have much of an impact in turning this club around. One player that I am seriously considering making a run at is Bubba Starling. The spreadsheet lists his trade value as a high C. Is he a realistic target? I realize that he hasn't lived up to potential irl but I need to take a gamble or two on some guys if this team hopes to be relevant again in a few years. Thoughts? Who gets this deal done? Thanks.
I'm currently running my Brewers Franchise, and I just can't pitch with Lohse. Looking to keep things as real as possible, do you think the brewers would be willing to deal him?
If he is available for trade, who would you target for a middle of the rotation kind of guy?
Also I'm not thrilled, but not opposed to dealing Braun or Ramirez if I could get a possible A or B projected solid SP. Braun is currently 2nd in the league in HRs and RBI's so I'd like to keep him if at all possible.
Braun again I would need to know who is in it, Red Sox, Rangers, Nationals (Span can move to 4th OF in walk year), Mariners, and maybe a few others could be interested no matter what.
Ramirez I think the Dodgers may be the bets fit for him, they have Uribe at 3B and I think they would give up a B to add him to the team.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I consider Bubba a bust at this point, if he has a bad year irl he is leaving to go back to school and play football (think I read this in MLB baseball forum). So if they need bullpen help, maybe Mike Adams for him? If not just do a spec swap with them and give them a position of need.
Assuming the obvious: The Royals are still in contention.Last edited by Coper3000; 06-06-2014, 01:50 PM.Comment

Also it can work the other way, say they're playing horribly they can be downgraded a tad as well.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Are you rebuilding or competing with the Brewers? If competing and want to deal him, I would try to get a mid RP and a spec for him, if rebuilding just try to get value. What teams are currently in it in your chise?
Braun again I would need to know who is in it, Red Sox, Rangers, Nationals (Span can move to 4th OF in walk year), Mariners, and maybe a few others could be interested no matter what.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
After being inspired by so many people starting dynasties with there favorite teams and putting there own spin on it I have decided to do it with my Orioles. I would like to trade JJ Hardy before the season so I can play Machado there and Schoop at third with Flaherty (who I am high on and hit extremely well with) at second.
The Pirates look like the best fit so I am trying to work out a deal. Since I am the Orioles I am only looking for realism on the Pirates front but fairness for both sides.
Here is my idea.
Pirates get:
JJ Hardy
Orioles get:
Brandon Cumpton
Justin Wilson
Let me know what you guys think.
Also please excuse my bad case of RDS. It takes a while before i find a dynasty to stick withComment

Toronto Blue Jays Franchise
A know its a small trade but with Ryan Goins (broken foot) on the DL I wanted a secondbasemen so I trade OF Moises Sierra for 2B Tyler Pastornicky of the Braves.
Small trade but one I thought helped the Jays.Comment

What is a fair package to get back from the Brewers in a trade for Headley? Their prospects that I like are Jimmy Nelson, Clint Coulter, Michael Reed (big Coulter fan even though I have Hedges, two stud catchers is a good problem to have though, could make Coulter a 1B or OF since he could have the bat to do so). If needed to make the deal balance I'd look into Devin Williams and Jungmann.
I'd most prefer to start with Coulter and add pieces from there. Note that I'll be switching Headley to LF as Khris Davis has hit .180 on the year and they are 2 games out of first place. Then he can move to 3B next year if Aramis is gone. I wouldn't mind adding Rickie Weeks into the deal so I have a veteran guy to plug into my lineup in Headleys place, I don't expect I'd really need to add anything for Weeks though as I don't think he carries much of any value.
My ideas are
Nelson, Coulter, Weeks for Headley
Or
Nelson, Coulter, Reed, Weeks for Headley and Street (Krod has been terrible and Street has been solid at 22 saves with a 3.17 era)

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on Headley for Jimmy Nelson, Coulter, Rickie Weeks who will get a shot to revive his career as my starting 3B for the rest of the season. Figured I can hold Street until right at the deadline and move him elsewhere.

That's quite a return for Headley who unfortunately seems destined to go the way of Brady Anderson and Bret Boone as one-hit wonders. Was Headley performing well? If so, I like this deal for both sides. If Headley's just been meh, I think you made the Brewers overpay and they'd probably have tried Gindl out before dealing from an already thin system.
He's played fairly well but definitely not at an all star level. First week of July his stats are .261, 12 HR, 44 RBI and that's with a two week stint on the DL. So he's on pace to finish at about .260, 25 HR and 90 RBIs, not accounting for being in a better lineup and a hitters park. If it was a bit too much I could trade back Nelson for a lower level prospect?
It's worth adding that Davis is currently on DL and in 131 ABs Gindl is at .260, 2 hr, 16 RBI.
Another option I suppose could be keeping Gindl in LF, and moving either Aramis or Headley to 1B since Reynolds is on 60 day DL and Overbay is their starter there right now. Would that be more logical? I'm guessing Aramis would be the better move to 1B as Headley is a former gold glove winner
With all that taken into consideration what do you think a fair deal would have been for Headley? I'm fine with trading Nelson and/or Coulter back for different prospects if that's what it takes for fairness and realism. I don't know much about the Brewers so am not sure if they would trade Nelson or Coulter. I don't want to take any prospects that are extremely unlikely to be dealt IRL.
